Chapter 204: Himesaki’s Summons (Super Pervert)
I headed straight to the rooftop after Himesaki summoned me.
I was no longer her little puppy but her friend, yet there were so many things about her candidacy that piqued my curiosity.
I hurried there and, upon arrival, spotted Himesaki eating lunch alone in the corner of the rooftop.
She held a rice ball about the size of a band ball in both hands and ate it steadily by herself. Yes, it was a lone meal.
“Ah! Senpai Ryota, over here, over here.”
When she noticed me, Himesaki waved me over with a cute smile.
“Thanks for coming right away! As expected, your footwork is lightning-fast, huh?”
“Y-Yeah, well, that’s true… but even after running for office, you’re still eating alone?”
“Hey! There’s no causal link between running for office and not having friends!”
“No, I just figured that since you were running for student council president, you’d gotten used to the class environment and made some friends by now.”
“Oh, you mean that kind of…”
Himesaki finished the rice ball in one big bite, then stowed the wrapping in her lunchbox while her expression clouded slightly.
“I ran because my classmates told me to give it a shot… I’d been agonizing over whether to do it for a while…”
“So you just went with the flow and ran?”
“B-But! I couldn’t exactly say no, especially when even the homeroom teacher urged me to try! And they know I haven’t fit in with the class yet.”
Himesaki pouted sulkily as she spoke.
Well, regardless of whether she had friends, it made sense that people would want to recommend her based on her potential.
“That’s how much they’re expecting from you. Plus, hasn’t running for office brought some changes around you?”
“Well… yeah. Everyone said they’d help with the campaign.”
Himesaki said that and gave a bashful smile.
She seemed to wear a softer smile than before.
“I still get a lot of special treatment, but through this campaign, I hope people get to know me a little better…”
“If you can think that way, then running was the right call.”
“B-But! Running for office is still…! Once I’m on stage, I’ll get nervous and talk too fast… English would be easy, though.”
A sudden English speech… that might actually land well.
“You might not get it, Senpai Ryota… but I’m actually pretty shy.”
“Whoa, that’s kinda erotic.”
“Where are you getting excited about that!”
When we first met, Himesaki had pulled off that cheeky underclassman act, but she had this side to her too, unexpectedly.
“So basically, you don’t mind running itself, but speeches and stuff are tough, so that’s the part you hate?”
“Y-Yes.”
“But back when you were blackmailing me with those photos, you were full of life. Just do your speech in that vibe.”
“Th-That was! I was desperate just to get close to you, Senpai Ryota… The real me is way more, um, shy.”
“N-Nah… that’s kinda erotic.”
“So why are you getting excited about that!”
No matter what Himesaki said, it sounded erotic. I had no idea why.
“Well, it’s decided that you’re running, so do your best, Himesaki. I’ll cheer you on, and if anything comes up…”
“Um! The reason I called you here today is because I have a favor to ask!”
Himesaki suddenly stood up with her lunchbox in hand.
“S-Senpai Ryota… you’re not Rui-senpai’s endorser, right?”
“Endorser? Well, yeah, that’s true.”
“Then! If it’s okay, could you be my endorser, please!”
“H-Huh? Me, your endorser!? Are you serious?”
“Yes! You’re popular among the first-years, so I thought I’d ask.”
With that, I recalled the time I’d waited for Himesaki.
Sure, some students had looked surprised when they saw me, but it hadn’t seemed like I was popular or anything.
“Uh, sorry, Himesaki. Actually, I’m supporting Rui, but on top of that, I’ve kinda become the endorser for this cocky girl named Tanaka.”
“Huh? Senpai Ryota, you’re that Tanaka person’s endorser?”
“Yeah, so I can’t be yours. Sorry!”
“Oh… I see.”
Himesaki’s face clearly fell in disappointment.
“Sigh… I thought if I could ask you, Senpai Ryota, I could do it without holding back on anything.”
“S-Sorry. Isn’t there some other girl who’d do it?”
“That’s fine on that front. Some friends from class offered to. I was planning to ask you first before giving them an answer, so I haven’t replied yet.”
“I see. But in a way, isn’t that good? You might get closer to her. You can’t rely on me as your only friend forever.”
“I… wouldn’t mind if…”
“You wouldn’t mind?”
“No! I mean, it’s easier that way! As long as I have one easy-to-handle friend like you, Senpai Ryota, that’s fine!”
“Easy-to-handle? Come on.”
Maybe because I’d turned down the endorser role, Himesaki’s tone suddenly turned a bit snarky.
“But honestly, I’m a little jealous. With your relationship to Rui-senpai and now this Tanaka thing, you have such a wide circle of friends, unlike me.”
I didn’t know anyone with a narrower social circle than mine…
Heck, just being friends with those three beautiful girls meant I had no guy friends at all.
“You’re just playing around with me, right?”
“Wh-Where’d you learn a word like that! What textbook has that in it!”
“You’re just using me for my body, right?”
“No, I’m not! Hell, I want to!”
She must’ve watched some weird drama lately.
“Anyway, enough fooling around.”
“What, Himesaki? So our relationship was just fooling around, huh?”
“Hey, stop countering like that.”
Himesaki gave a light retort but stood up with her lunchbox.
“You’re endorsing Tanaka-senpai while supporting Kuroki-senpai, right? So from today, we’re enemies?”
“Yeah… looks like it.”
I’d wanted to avoid this ever since Rui ran, but… no helping it.
“Kuroki-senpai’s wall is high, but I’ll give it my all.”
With that, Himesaki bowed and left the rooftop.
She might really be the only one who could rival Rui.
I couldn’t get complacent.
“…Hm? From Airi on Line?”
[Airi: Ryota! Come to the classroom right now!]
Damn, what now!
