- The Story Of How I, A Gloomy Guy, Ended Up Surrounded By the Top-Tier Beautiful Girls In Class After A Seat Change
- Chapter 19 - What is Perfectionism?
Rui Kuroki, a perfect human being, is a perfectionist who wishes to be perfect.
However, her perfectionism extends beyond academics and sports.
“You were the only classmate in middle school who didn’t confess to me, Izumiya-kun.”
(Everyone else in our class liked Kuroki… except me?)
Why did Kuroki say something like that?
I don’t understand. But it sounded like she was saying she wasn’t ‘perfect’ because I didn’t confess to her.
Is what Kuroki said even true?
It’s hard to believe that every other boy in our middle school confessed to Kuroki. It doesn’t seem realistic.
But—strangely, if it’s Kuroki, it might not be a lie. She is a rare existence, and it’s easy to understand why everyone would be drawn to her.
“Are you doubting me?”
“No, it’s not that…”
“I’m telling you the truth. Every boy in our middle school class confessed to me at least once. The only one who didn’t was you, Izumiya-kun.”
Kuroki says this with a cunning smile—a warm smile, like sunshine on this rainy day. No matter how beautiful she is, I can’t believe everything she says.
“One question. What about the classmates who dated other girls?”
“That’s because they chose other girls after I turned them down. Everyone wanted to eat Chateaubriand but had to settle for ribeye or sirloin… love is cruel.”
(The cruel thing is your analogy…!!)
I suppress the urge to retort.
“But—Izumiya-kun, you were different, right?”
“M-me…?”
“In your case, you didn’t even look at the meat. You’re like a herbivore… that made you different from the other carnivorous boys.”
A herbivore… me?
I don’t think there’s anyone more carnivorous (with a love for big boobs and thick thighs) than me…
“Hey, Izumiya-kun, you actually like me, don’t you? You were just too embarrassed to confess, right?”
“S-sorry, but I don’t feel that way about you.”
“Come on, you like me, don’t you?”
Kuroki moves closer with her best smile.
(She’s trying to sway my feelings for her perfectionism.)
I admit Kuroki is stunningly beautiful. The nice smell from her glossy black hair has my heart racing, to be honest.
(But… sorry, I don’t like you.)
The reason is… Kuroki may be perfect, but she lacks something crucial for my tastes.
“Come on, say you like me.”
“I told you I—”
As I was about to deny it, Kuroki suddenly moved her face close to my ear.
“Repeat after me; I like you, Kuroki-san~ I love you~”
“Don’t say it like a hypnotic voice! Stop it!”
“H-hypnotic voice…?”
Kuroki whispers like a hypnosis countdown ASMR. I try to move away but realize stepping out of the umbrella means getting soaked in the rain, so I step back under it.
(Wait… I have no escape because of the rain…)
“Hehe, just realized it?”
“You can’t be serious…”
“Alright, let’s start a little game.”
Kuroki, with her biggest grin of the day, declares.
“The rules are simple. I won’t leave this spot until you say, ‘I like you.’ If you don’t want to say it, we can stay here until morning. Is that okay?”
“Y-you must be kidding! I’m going home!”
“The rain is getting heavier… leaving a girl in such heavy rain… Izumiya-kun, you’re so mean.”
This Woman…! She Wants Me to Confess That Badly…!
“If I get you to say it, I win…”
“W-what do you mean by ‘win’?”
“Never mind that. Izumiya-kun, what will you do? Leave me standing in front of the school gate, or confess and get it over with?”
What do you mean, what will I do…? No matter how talented and beautiful Kuroki is, confessing just because she pressured me feels wrong.
“Please, stop teasing me. I will never say I like you, and you wouldn’t be happy hearing a forced confession anyway, right?”
Desperately, I delivered my honest thoughts… but.
“What if… I said it would make me happy?”
“W-what? That can’t be…”
“It’s true. Because, ever since that day, I—”
At that moment—
A hand with sky-blue nail polish reached out from behind and touched Kuroki’s shoulder.
“Hey. Isn’t it ,Rui?”
Turning around, I saw the hand attached to a shapely thigh peeking out from under a skirt.
(That thigh… it’s Yuria Ichinose!)
Even though I avoided looking at it during class today, that thigh is etched in my memory.
“Why is Rui walking home with him? Rui, you promised to walk home with me. If you’re hitting on someone, find someone else.”
“Y-you promised to walk home with Ichinose…?”
“Airi borrowed Rui’s umbrella to go on a date with her boyfriend, so Rui promised to walk home with me. I told her to wait because I had some cultural festival committee work… why are you with Izumiya?”
This doesn’t add up.
Before leaving the entrance, Kuroki said, “Airi told me to borrow an umbrella from you.”
“Tch… later, nerd.”
Ichinose clicks her tongue, pulls Kuroki under her umbrella, and then starts walking away.
Left behind in my dispute with Kuroki, I stood there alone.
(What’s with Ichinose acting all superior, even though she’s a nerd herself…)
Despite the stark contrast to yesterday, it’s true Ichinose saved me.
(Thanks to Ichinose, I avoided the confrontation with Kuroki… I should be grateful.)
Just as I started walking, my phone buzzed in my pocket. It is a Lime notification.
‘Ichinose: I acted cold because Rui was there. Sorry, Ryota.’
I see. So that’s why she seemed unusually cold.
Ichinose went out of her way to apologize through Lime.
(It’s tough for Ichinose to be stuck in the middle, too…)
As I was about to close my phone, another notification popped up: ‘You have received a Lime from a user not on your friends list.’
“Not a friend…?”
The name ‘Kuroki’ appeared on the screen. No way…
‘Kuroki: Hehe, we’ve become close, so I added you as a friend ♡ Keep what happened earlier a secret, okay? If you spill it… you don’t know what will happen. ♡’
‘Kuroki: And don’t worry, I’ll make you fall for me, Ryota ♡ Just wait and see, okay?’
Two consecutive Limes scarier than any horror movie arrived.
Far from reassuring, it was nothing but terrifying.
(Why does someone like me, an introverted nerd, have to be targeted by the most beautiful girl of our generation…!)
My peace… is undoubtedly shattered.
Thus, I (unwillingly) held secrets about the three top girls in the class hierarchy.
Because of the seating change, the girls revealed secrets that no one knows about…
And I felt that my high school life would become even more chaotic.
Design wise, Kuroki is my favorite type but i definitely feel why the MC here doesn’t like her. She does seem like she has a nasty personality. –
