Chapter 106: Tanaka and Yuria’s Intentions
The study session continued, even though Tanaka dozed off a few times.
“If you memorize every page in the Japanese history section, getting 100 points on the test will be easy!”
“No way, I can’t remember that much at once.”
“It’s okay! If someone like me, a tiny nerdy girl with glasses and no chest, can do it, then a beautiful girl like you, Yuria, with big thighs and all, can do it perfectly!”
“You’ve got as little self-esteem as Ryota… And is that really how you see me?”
Despite everything, Tanaka and Yuria had become close, and Tanaka could now talk to Yuria comfortably.
“Well, it’s almost 7 p.m., so shall we wrap this up?”
I said to the two of them while glancing at my phone.
Just like during my study session with Airi, time flew by when we were focused like this.
“That sounds good. Your family usually has dinner around 7 p.m., right, Ryota?”
“Yeah, so we should start—”
“Hey, Tanaka, don’t you know a bit too much about Ryota?”
As Tanaka and I were talking, Yuria interrupted.
“You know his dinner time, you’ve been asked by his parents to keep an eye on him, and you’ve been close since middle school… It’s almost like you’re childhood friends.”
“Well, I did hang out with Ryota a lot during our first and second years of middle school. So, I guess I built a good relationship with his family.”
“A good relationship? That’s just because you’re overly familiar. You even flatter my sister, who’s also a shy girl, to get hand-me-down clothes. And on Sundays, you secretly learned my mom’s roast pork recipe.”
“W-wait, Ryota, that’s not being overly familiar… Tanaka, are you purposely—”
“Ah, ah! What are you saying, Yuria! I just want to build a good relationship with his sister and mother, that’s all!”
Tanaka denied it vehemently, shaking her head so hard her glasses nearly flew off.
What’s gotten into her all of a sudden? Tanaka is as emotionally unstable as ever.
“Anyway! Why don’t we talk about summer vacation plans instead? Yuria, you’re a popular girl, so your schedule must be packed, right?”
“Summer vacation plans? I haven’t decided anything yet.”
“Really? Aren’t you going anywhere with your boyfriends?”
“Boyfriends? No, I don’t have a boyfriend, and I’ve never dated anyone.”
“…Really? I heard rumors that you had several boyfriends from other schools.”
Several boyfriends? What kind of rumor is that?
I admit, before I got to know Yuria, I had the image of her being a wild girl, but still…
Strange rumors often circulate about the trio of beautiful girls. When Airi and I simply went to the cafeteria and Sno-To together, there were already rumors that we were dating.
“Well, I’m planning to figure out my summer vacation plans after the test.”
Yuria smiled mischievously and looked at me.
W-what’s with that unpleasant smile…? Does she mean that she’ll drag me around based on my test results before making her plans?
Judging by Yuria’s expression, that’s exactly what she means… Sigh. Looks like my summer will be spent as her errand boy.
“So, what about you, Tanaka? Do you have any plans? Like a family trip?”
“Our family is too busy with work to go on a trip… But actually, I’m planning to go to Comiket.”
“Comiket!?”
Yuria and I reacted simultaneously, but Yuria quickly coughed to hide her nerdy side and tried to act calm.
“W-what’s Comiket?”
“Oh, Yuria, you probably don’t know. It’s a big event where they sell doujinshi. There are also corporate booths and cosplay areas, so there’s a lot to enjoy.”
I thought to myself, “Yuria knows all about this,” while watching her try to keep a straight face.
Still, Comiket, huh?
I was surprised to hear Tanaka was going to Comiket because, for a high schooler from the countryside, attending Comiket is quite challenging. The round-trip cost to Tokyo, the price of doujinshi, the unfamiliarity with city train transfers, and the tight budget makes a day trip the only option… it’s all a bit daunting.
I’ve never been to Comiket because I could see myself struggling with all those hurdles. Plus, I’m not a fan of crowds.
“S-so, Ryota, why don’t you come with me to Comiket? It’ll be more comfortable going together.”
“M-me too?”
“…Is that a no?”
Tanaka asked, looking up at me.
Going together, huh… Next year we’ll be busy with exams, so we won’t be able to go to Comiket. I did want to go, just a little, since this would be my last chance.
“…Alright. I’ll see if I can borrow some money for the trip and think about it. I want to go too.”
“Really!? …Yay!”
“Wait.”
Yuria suddenly cut in with a serious expression.
Don’t tell me, Yuria, you…
“I’m going to Comiket too.”
I knew it… I had a feeling she’d want to go to the Nyu-kyun booth.
She’s definitely going to blow her cover as an otaku!

Chapter 107: Yuria’s Reverse Bunny?
—
“Are you serious, Ichinose-san? Do you want to go to Comiket? I mean, I feel a bit weird saying this, but Comiket is pretty much an otaku event.”
“I don’t really mind that kind of thing, plus, I’ve gotten used to otakus thanks to Ryota.”
“B-but! You see! Someone as beautiful as you might get your b-butt touched in the crowd!”
What is Tanaka saying? She should apologize to otakus across the nation, including me! (When it comes to Yuria, thighs are the real deal, not the butt!)
But why is Tanaka sounding a bit worried? This isn’t like her. Usually, she’d be saying something like, “Whoa, if Ichinose-san’s coming, I’ll prepare a reverse bunny cosplay!” or something like that…
Maybe Tanaka doesn’t know that Yuria is a hardcore otaku. She might think that hanging out with a non-otaku would spoil the fun.
Even though Tanaka often behaves recklessly, she knows how to read the room when it counts.
Since I know about Yuria’s situation, maybe I should make it so that she can join us.
“Hey, Tanaka. If she wants to come, shouldn’t we, as otakus, take this chance to convert a gal into one of us? I don’t see the problem.”
“Th-that’s…”
“Hmm?”
“…If Ryota-kun says so, then fine. Let’s go to Summer Comiket as a group of three.”
Tanaka, who was frowning just a moment ago, suddenly returned to her usual self.
“Oh, but in exchange, Ichinose-san has to come in a reverse bunny cosplay.”
“What! Me!?”
Ah, there she goes, back to being the usual Tanaka.
Yuria in a reverse bunny outfit… irresistible.
“No way! Reverse bunny outfits leave all the important parts exposed! If I walk around in that, I’d definitely get detained by the police!”
“That’s true… Wait, Ichinose-san, you know about reverse bunnies?”
“Ah.”
Oh, crap. That’s right. Reverse bunnies had a boom in the otaku community for a while, becoming a trend among illustrators. But outside of otaku circles, only hardcore A● fans would know about them.
This isn’t good. If this keeps up, her otaku secret might get exposed…
She hasn’t even survived the midterms, and she’s already on the brink of exposing herself at the speed of sound.
I have no choice. I’ll have to cover for her like always.
“A-actually, I’m the one who told her about reverse bunnies recently!”
“Ryota-kun told you about reverse bunnies!? You’re the worst!”
You’re the last person who should be saying that after suggesting she wear one.
“Well, I won’t push for a reverse bunny, but maybe we could settle on a regular bunny outfit?”
“That sounds great! With Ichinose-san’s figure, you’d get tons of photographers swarming you.”
“I-I’m not doing it! I’m not interested in that kind of thing.”
Yuria denied it, but I remember her offering to show me her maid cosplay if I came to her room, so she probably just doesn’t want strangers to see her in revealing outfits.
Yuria doesn’t seem to mind showing her thighs, but she’s strangely guarded.
(But, Yuria in cosplay…)
“Ryota, why are you grinning?”
“No, it’s nothing.”
It seems my thoughts were showing on my face.
—
“Alright, Ryota-kun, see you later. Thanks for having us.”
“Ryota, later.”
“Yeah, take care, you two.”
I saw the two of them off at the entrance and then went back inside.
“Phew… Finally, some alone time.”
Every time girls come over to my room, something crazy happens, and it’s exhausting. But even though Yuria confiscated them, I still have another box hidden on the bookshelf.
(I could keep the other box safely stored away… or use it alone if it comes to that.)
Just as I was thinking these indecent thoughts, I got a notification on Lime from the top student in my grade, who sent me a photo.
As soon as I saw it, I rushed to my room, postponing dinner.
‘Rui: We had swim training today, so here’s a special swimsuit photo. How do I look?’
Today’s selfie from Rui was a picture of her in a school swimsuit, reflected in the mirror.
“A school swimsuit!?”
The tight-fitting swimsuit highlighted her slender waist and long, muscular legs. Even though it’s not fair to compare her to Airi or Yuria, seeing her in that school swimsuit showed that Rui also had a chest that was appropriate for her age.
(Rui’s figure… it’s amazing.)
Sending a picture like this to a boy in the middle of puberty, fully aware of how beautiful she is, is seriously pushing boundaries.
(She’s the exact opposite of Yuria, who’s shy even though she’s a gal. Rui has this calm, pure vibe, yet she sends these cosplay-like selfies without a hint of shame. What’s going on in her head?)
I quickly saved the photo and replied on Lime with a sticker of a panting, tongue-out chihuahua.
“To think that I’ve been exchanging messages with Rui like this for a few months now…”
It was by pure chance, but I happened to save Kuroki Rui from a difficult situation twice. That’s probably why she’s been getting so involved with me.
And if Kuroki Rui becomes the student council president… I…
“N-no, I haven’t decided yet! Besides, being the vice president isn’t really my thing…”
Even as I said that, my eyes drifted back to the photos on my phone.
“I’ll definitely miss these selfies if they stop…”
At this point, Kuroki Rui’s selfies have become like an app subscription to me.
I never really needed them, but once I got hooked, there was no turning back… It’s a subscription hell.
“She said I could decide after summer break, so I’ll leave the choice of whether to continue this relationship by becoming vice president to future me.”
With those leisurely thoughts, I prepared myself for the upcoming end-of-term exams.
