The Story Of How I, A Gloomy Guy, Ended Up Surrounded By the Top-Tier Beautiful Girls In Class After A Seat Change - Chapter 1
I, Ryota Izumiya, am undoubtedly at the very bottom of the class hierarchy.
Since childhood, I’ve disliked standing out and have always been an introvert. Although I barely manage to keep my grades in the top tier, my only friend is a fellow otaku, Kanade Tanaka (who is in the neighboring class).
I have zero experience in romance and have never had a girlfriend in my life. My height and face are average, making me the epitome of an introvert. I’m definitely at the bottom of the hierarchy of Class 2-1.
Because of this, I’ve tried to lead a peaceful school life without interfering with others since my first year of high school. After all, if you don’t stand out, you won’t get hurt.
However, even someone like me has people I find difficult to deal with.
These are mainly the three S-class beauties at the top of the hierarchy: Yuria Ichinose, Rui Kuroki, and Airi Miyama.
They always stick together. Yuria Ichinose has a gal-like appearance and brown hair; Rui Kuroki is the black-haired, classy class president; and Airi Miyama is called the cute little sister type with her sweet voice. These three are incredibly conspicuous in the class and are recognized as beautiful by everyone.
I’ve never even talked to them because compared to them, I’m only someone at the bottom of the class hierarchy. Approaching popular people clearly wouldn’t lead to anything good, so from my introverted perspective, they are the ones I should avoid the most.
By keeping my distance from them, I can maintain a peaceful life as an introvert—
That’s what I had always thought.
—
Today, I had an unusually bad feeling since morning.
After waking up, I suddenly experienced sleep paralysis and lost 30 minutes. The horoscope on TV, which happened to be on, ranked my Sagittarius sign dead last. Moreover, the lucky color for me is absurdly the color rainbow… Seriously, how can someone wear something as conspicuous as rainbow colors?
Even as I thought that, I changed into the rainbow-colored trunks from the lucky bag I bought at the beginning of the year, almost making me late (what am I doing?).
I passed through the school gate with the unfamiliar rainbow trunks making my groin itch. If I were to be late on top of being known as the introverted otaku in class, I’d lose even more standing.
(Isn’t homeroom already starting? If so, this isn’t good!)
Our homeroom teacher, Yamada, is a violent, old-fashioned teacher who always carries a bamboo sword. If I’m late, I might get buried in the ground.
Panicking, I rushed into the classroom of Class 2-1.
Inside, I saw my classmates moving their seats. They were taking out their materials from their desks and carrying them around.
“This is the first seat change of the year, right?”
“Yeah, I didn’t think Yamada-sensei, being so strict, would allow a seat change.”
“It’s all thanks to the class president for convincing him.”
From my classmates’ conversations, it seemed that the class president, Rui Kuroki, had persuaded Yamada-sensei to allow the seat change.
The lottery had already finished, and everyone was moving to the seats written on the blackboard. My name, Ryota Izumiya, was also there.
A seat change is not something an introvert like me looks forward to. I don’t have any feelings of wanting to sit next to someone I like or close to friends.
Now, where is my seat…? Hmm…
To my left was Yuria Ichinose.
To my right was Rui Kuroki.
And in front of me was Airi Miyama….Eh??
“No way…”
I was surrounded by the three top-tier beauties whom I found the most difficult to deal with.
