- Vol 1 Chapter 30 - I Don’t Want to Go Home Tonight
Before ten o’clock in the afternoon.
The birthday party was over, and after seeing off the last participant after the birthday party, Itomori-kun and I were basking in the night breeze on the balcony.
“I can’t believe that the confession was meant to fend off the men who approached me.”
“I-I’m sorry. That’s all I can think of… but it actually worked, didn’t it?”
It worked, far from it.
After the public confession, none of the men spoke to me with carelessness. Thanks to that, I had the most peaceful birthday party ever.
“Does that mean that the confession was a lie?”
That was the first thing that bothered me when I realized the intention behind the confession.
Itomori-kun was looking at the moon floating in the night sky at my question, he suddenly looked down and smiled shyly.
“…N-no, I’m not lying. I can’t say such a thing with a lie.”
“I see. I’m relieved.”
He looked back to where he was, and I followed him and looked up to the sky.
We share a silent moment in the cool breeze. In the hall, the staff are cleaning up the mess, and the noise is strangely comfortable.
“”Um.””
At exactly the same time, we both started to speak and immediately made eye contact.
We politely tried to give way to each other, but in the end, I was the one who spoke first.
“The fact that the confession was true means that Itomori-kun is my boyfriend… Yes, I wanted to make sure.”
“Ah, um, y-yes, boyfriend… I’m sure that’s true.”
“Thank you. What did Itomori-kun say to me?”
“Well, I’m with you… I wonder if I can think of senpai as my girlfriend.”
“Yes. I’m your girlfriend.”
“Ah… um, ah, yes… I-I see.”
His face turned red and he scratched the back of his head.
He is cute because he is so shy after making a confession like a hero in a girls’ comic book that he has abandoned both shame and hearsay.
“But I feel embarrassed. It’s like making someone happy or proposing no matter what. My head was all messed up and I just panicked…!”
“So you mean you don’t want to make me happy?”
“T-that’s not it! I’ll make you happy! Even if it costs me my life, I promise!”
“Don’t put your life on the line. Without Itomori-kun, I would cry.”
“Ah… Y-yes. I’m sorry.”
“I will make Itomori-kun happy, too. Absolutely.”
My emotions accumulate. I really want to laugh more, but my facial muscles don’t twitch at all.
Itomori-kun gently patted my head, as I bit my teeth inwardly in frustration.
“I’m always happy to be with senpai.”
He said with fond squinting eyes.
Immediately afterward, he lost his expression and laughed and said, “Did I say something that got me carried away…?”
He tries to act cool but quickly gets embarrassed. I love everything about him, so much so that the intensity of it is almost painful.
I want to get drunk right now and let everything go.
“…Um, Itomori-kun.”
“What is it?”
I grabbed him by the sleeve.
Like when we first met.
“Would it bother you if I said I wanted to go to Itomori-kun’s house?”
“Right now? It’s already pretty good time, so I guess I’ll be heading home soon―”
“I don’t want to.”
“Huh…?”
Itomori-kun looked confused.
I pulled his sleeve lightly and pulled him towards me.
“I don’t want to go home tonight.”
Itomori-kun blushed even more and took a lot of time to think about it.
At last, he nodded a little and muttered weakly, “Well, shall we go?”
