- The Story About How I Was Fired From My Company and Then Picked up by a Possessive Streamer With Over 5 Million Subscribers
- Chapter 5 - The Beginning of Cohabitation
“We’ve arrived, Eiji-san. This is our house!”
Kanna-san said to me, exuding a joyful aura.
Is she really that happy? I thought as I looked at the house she lived in…Hmm.
“It’s a surprisingly normal house.”
There didn’t seem to be many people around, but that was one of its charms. It was a typical house, which made me feel a bit more familiar with it.
“Did you want a more luxurious house, Eiji-san?”
“No, no. I just thought it was a bit unexpected. I had an image of a house belonging to a streamer with 5 million subscribers being much more extravagant. But personally, I think this kind of house feels more relatable.”
“R-really? That’s a relief.”
I could see Kanna-san exhale as if she were relieved.
“If you didn’t like it, Eiji-san, I almost considered selling it.”
“Huh? Kanna-san, did you just say something?”
I thought I heard something a bit alarming, but she acted as if nothing had happened.
“Oh, it’s nothing~! Come on, Eiji-san! Let’s go inside the house right away!”
“Right. Well…excuse me for intruding.”
With her encouragement, I stepped inside…but then—
“This…this is…incredible.”
“Haha…I’m so embarrassed.”
She lowered her head in shame, avoiding my gaze.
I couldn’t help but grimace at the state of the house. After all, just a glance showed garbage scattered all over the hallway.
“I tried to clean up somehow…but it only made the mess worse…”
Could it be that this disaster was caused by Kanna-san’s failed attempt to clean?
I was surprised. No, really surprised. From her appearance alone, I thought she was a perfect person who could handle both housework and her job…but it seemed she had her weaknesses.
“Well, let’s start with the first task: cleaning up this mess.”
With that, I took out my trusty rubber gloves and trash bags from my bag.
“Huh? Eiji-san? Why do you have rubber gloves and trash bags in your bag?”
“Oh, well, I once visited a streamer’s house for work at my previous company, and the place was a total disaster with trash everywhere. It was such a nightmare…so ever since then, I’ve been prepared.”
I still remember it vividly. There were half-eaten cups of instant noodles scattered under the floor and expired bread…it was a horrible experience.
“…I see.”
“Is something wrong, Kanna-san?”
“No, it’s nothing. So, Eiji-san, what should I do? I feel bad not doing anything.”
Hmm…I’d like her to help with the cleaning, but…that might only make things worse.
“How about I give you a memo with a list of ingredients? Could you go out and buy them?”
“Ingredients? Got it! Leave it to me!”
She enthusiastically pounded her chest, showing her determination.
At that moment, I couldn’t help but notice her large chest bounce.
Ugh…where should I look?
While pondering that, I handed her the memo with the ingredients for tonight’s dinner. Kanna-san took it and left to do the shopping.
“Phew…Alright, time to tackle my first job. Let’s do this.”
I stretched my body to get ready, and then I began cleaning up the mountain of garbage, making sure to tidy up every corner.
But the hallway, the living room, the toilet, and even the bathroom were all filled with trash and grime, so it took a long time.
What was that yellow liquid that had spread all over the bathroom…?
And why were there underwear scattered in the living room…? Well, better not to ask too many questions.
◇
“Phew…I think I’ve cleaned up most of it.”
Wiping the sweat from my forehead, I looked at the living room, which had been a garbage dump before I cleaned it.
Now, it was spotless, just like an ordinary room in any regular household.
“I’d like to clean the second floor too, but…I feel awkward cleaning someone else’s room, so I’ll stop here for today.”
Thinking that, I glanced at the now-clear window. The sky had turned red—it was already evening.
“Sigh…I didn’t expect my first job to be this exhausting…My body aches.”
To relieve the strain from cleaning, I stretched and rotated my hips.
I wanted to start preparing dinner, but…Kanna-san still hadn’t come back.
What should I do…? Just as I was thinking that, I heard the front door open. Maybe Kanna-san had returned?
“I’m home…huh? Was the hallway always this clean?”
A voice slightly younger than Kanna-san’s called out…It seemed like it wasn’t her. Now that I think about it, didn’t she mention that two other people lived here?
While pondering that, a blonde-haired girl in a school uniform appeared at the living room entrance.
“…Huh?”
“Ah, hello. I’ll be working here starting today—”
“—Kyahhhhhh!! An intruder!!!”
I was about to introduce myself when the girl in front of me turned pale and collapsed on the spot, trying to flee. Wait, Kanna-san!? Didn’t you explain this to the other two!?
“P-please wait! I’m not suspicious!”
“C-call the p-p-police…!!”
“Wait, wait, wait!! Please, just listen!! Kanna-san asked me to be here!!”
“Kanna-san…?”
As soon as I mentioned Kanna-san’s name, she finally seemed to listen to me and continued looking at me.
“Y-yes. I’m sorry for startling you. Kanna-san asked me to start working here today.”
“Is that so…Jeez, Kanna-san! Why didn’t she talk to us first…? Hm?”
Suddenly, she stood up and walked over to me, staring intently. Huh? What now?
“…Huh?”
“Is something wrong?”
She seemed to have realized something, freezing as if time had stopped. Should I say something? But then—
“—Ahhhhhh!!!”
“Huh? Wh-what is it?”
“Hey, hey!! You’re…!!”
Huh? This situation…it feels familiar…like it just happened today…While I was thinking that, the girl, who looked like a high school student, excitedly raised her voice.
“Could it be…you’re Eiji-san!?”
…Ah, so that’s what this is.
As I realized what was happening, I sighed and gave a wry smile at the deja vu of the situation.
