The Story About How I Was Fired From My Company and Then Picked up by a Possessive Streamer With Over 5 Million Subscribers - Chapter 40
“Good job, everyone!”
The clinking sound of cups echoed with those words. Right now, we’re at Kappa Sushi, celebrating the end of our successful—well, sort of—collaboration stream.
“Wow, the second half was mostly about Eiji, but we managed to finish successfully,” said Sayaka.
“…Yeah. It was my first collaboration…I was nervous,” added Rinmei.
“Good job to both of you. Today’s on me, so feel free to eat as much as you want,” I told them.
“Really? Yay! You’re the best, Eiji!” Sayaka cheered.
“…Yeah. I’ll eat a lot. Thanks, Eiji,” Rinmei said quietly.
With the two realizing I was treating them, they showed no restraint and started taking plate after plate of sushi. They kept eating without a care in the world.
…I said that, but is my wallet going to survive this?
“Eiji, thanks for today,” Kanna said elegantly, holding up her cup as she spoke to me.
I raised my glass of water and lightly tapped it against hers.
“Kanna, you did a great job today too. The collaboration stream turned out really well,” I replied.
“Ah, haha…even though it ended up being all about you, Eiji, at the end…hearing you say that makes me happy,” she laughed awkwardly.
…Well, judging by the comments, it seems the viewers got pretty excited because of me, so I guess that’s okay?
“Eiji, thank you,” Kanna said suddenly.
“Huh? For what?” I asked, surprised by her sudden thanks.
“For giving us the chance to collaborate. You helped make one of my dreams come true,” she said.
“Was it a dream?” I asked, curious.
“Yes. It’s always been a dream of mine to do a stream with the three of us after we each became well-known. And you made it come true,” she explained.
I couldn’t help but be captivated by the elegant, slightly flushed look on her face.
“I’m really happy. Getting to do this collaboration with Sayaka and Rinmei…I really want to thank you. Truly, thank you,” she said sincerely.
“N-No…I just created the opportunity. The fact that we could do the collaboration and become popular is thanks to you, Kanna. It’s because you all worked so hard,” I stammered.
“…Hehe. You’re the same as always, Eiji,” Kanna smiled gently and then gracefully picked up a piece of sushi and ate it. Every movement she made seemed more mature than usual, and it made my heart race.
(What…what’s going on? Kanna seems unusually…alluring today…)
“Here, Eiji,” Kanna said, looking at me.
“Huh? Kanna?” I asked.
“Hehe, I’ve always wanted to try this with you, Eiji. Say ‘aah,’” she said, holding a piece of sushi towards me with her chopsticks.
“Aah…?” I hesitated, caught off guard by her gesture.
“Come on, Eiji. Say ‘aah,’” she insisted.
“A-Aah…” I opened my mouth, and she gently placed the sushi in. The prawn’s texture mixed perfectly with the rice, making it delicious.
“Now, Eiji, feed me next,” Kanna said.
“Huh?”
“Come on, say ‘aah,'” she said, brushing her hair back with a mature air, her mouth slightly open, waiting.
A bit flustered, I picked up a piece of sushi with my chopsticks and brought it to her mouth, just as she had done for me.
“…Is this salmon? Hehe, it’s delicious,” she said, smiling.
“S-So…I’m glad you like it…” I muttered.
…This is bad. Kanna’s actions are unusually mature today, and I can’t look her in the eye. Just as I thought about looking away, I noticed Sayaka and Rinmei holding out sushi towards me too.
“E-Eiji, um…open your mouth,” Sayaka said, blushing.
“…I want to feed you too…It’s my first time, so take it, okay?” Rinmei added.
Sayaka, you don’t need to blush for something like this, and Rinmei…don’t say such outrageous things. As I braced myself and was about to open my mouth, I was suddenly yanked to the side with great force.
“Mmph!”
I couldn’t breathe. Struggling, I glanced up to see that Kanna had pulled me into a tight embrace.
“K-Kanna? Let go of Eiji! I can’t feed him like this!” Sayaka complained.
“…No,” Kanna said firmly.
“…I want to feed Eiji too,” Rinmei added.
“…No,” Kanna repeated.
Wait…something smells like alcohol…from Kanna?
“Wait, Kanna, are you drunk!?” I asked in disbelief.
“…Ah, I see. That explains her assertiveness…She’s acting differently,” Rinmei observed.
“Whaaat? Come on, you two, I’m not drunk at all~,” Kanna slurred, her voice suddenly sounding much more childlike.
Ah…now I get it. Kanna must have a low tolerance for alcohol.
“Eiji~. Hehehe, Eiji~,” she giggled, squeezing me even tighter.
I-I can’t breathe…It’s suffocating, but…
“Enough! Let go of Eiji already, Kanna! Rinmei, help me pull them apart!” Sayaka shouted.
“…Okay…Kanna, let go of Eiji,” Rinmei urged.
“Aah! You’re always trying to separate me and Eiji! Today, I won’t let go, no matter what!” Kanna cried out.
Even though we were inside a restaurant, the chaos continued. But for some reason, I didn’t feel like stopping it.
Because…the three of them looked so happy.
◇
“Ah, I’m so full. Thanks for the meal, Eiji!” Sayaka said, patting her stomach.
“…It was delicious…Thank you, Eiji,” Rinmei added.
“Haha…I’m glad you both enjoyed it,” I replied, looking at my now empty wallet while carrying the sleeping Kanna on my back.
Honestly, I wish they’d shown a little more restraint.
“…Hey! You!”
A voice suddenly called out from behind me. It was a voice I hadn’t heard in a long time and one I didn’t want to hear.
I turned around and saw…
“…Why are you here?” I asked.
Standing there in tattered clothes was my former boss, Shigeru Meguro.
