Chapter 1: Living With a Streamer
Well, let’s start with a question.
When you hear the term “streamer,” what comes to mind?
A game streamer who conveys the fun of a game and entertains viewers through the screen?
A V-tuber who uses an avatar to chat and have fun through games or live streams, a recent hot topic?
Or perhaps a music YouTuber who creates and posts their own music or does cover songs of trending hits?
There are many other possibilities, but it probably varies from person to person. In fact, social media is full of such content.
This is the image of streamers now and in the future, bouncing around in society.
As for me, Kojima Yusuke, I am not posting videos…
So why am I talking about this? Well, you’ll understand if you see my current life.
Here I am, in a house in a certain town, somehow managing to live.
So, what am I doing now…
“…Eiji-san? Are you listening?”
I am being made to sit upright in front of Miyamoto Kanna, a woman with long black hair.
“Y-Yes, of course!”
I straighten my back and improve my slouched posture. When I look ahead…for some reason, I see a prominent game streamer who does not seem to have any light in his eyes.
“I’ve told you many times, haven’t I? Please stop approaching other women. Why won’t you listen to me? You’re mine, you know? Even just recently, you tried to help an unknown, obscure woman’s stream…Is being with me not enough? What’s the matter?”
Tears are streaming down from her eyes, which have no light at all. Seeing her like this makes me anxious. Why is she so emotionally fragile?
“N-No! That’s not it at all…”
“Well, well, it’s fine—”
Suddenly, I feel someone hugging me from the side. Turning my neck only a little, I see a high school girl with what is probably natural blonde hair, Yugiri Sayaka.
“Eiji-san, Eiji-san, let’s play now and save Kanna’s important talk for later~”
“No, Sayaka, I don’t have time for that right now…”
“Nope.”
The new-generation rookie V-tuber who is highly anticipated tightens her hug on me for some reason. Huh? Why?
“…Eiji-san, you have to play with me. You must. If I say so, that’s what you should do. If not, I might die from loneliness. If you refuse me now, I’m confident I can die right here in front of you. You’re kind, so it’s hard for you to refuse, right? But it’s okay. You don’t need to spend time with others. I’ll make sure you have fun, heal you, and do whatever you want. You just need to chat with me, play a lot, and be with me. If there’s anything you dislike, feel free to tell me. Is it my face? My personality? Or just me? I’ll fix it with any means if you don’t like it! Oh, or is someone harassing you? That’s very unpleasant. I’ll socially erase them right away. So, Eiji-san, who’s the one…”
“St-Stop!! Stop it, Sayaka!! Calm down!? No one’s bothering me! And how did this conversation even get to this point!?”
I’m trembling at her machine-gun-like talk. More than that, why did the topic suddenly switch to someone bothering me…
Then, someone starts tugging on my sleeve.
“…Eiji. Let’s stream today…join me.”
Looking over, I see a short woman with shoulder-length, shiny silver hair, Sumera Ria, who is not like the two earlier.
“Is it already that time? Can you wait a bit? I’ll be right there.”
“Now is best.”
“What? No, I mean, a little ‘now’…”
As expected of the hot-topic music YouTuber. Each word she says feels heavy.
“Now. It has to be now.”
“Um…Why?”
“…The aphrodisiac will arrive soon.”
“STOP!! What did you just say!? Aphrodisiac!? What kind of stream are you planning to do!?”
“…I’ll give it to Eiji to create a pretext.”
“That’s a big no!! You idiot!!”
I flick her forehead hard. She winces in pain, but I don’t care! More importantly, why was she planning something like that…
“…Eiji-san?”
A voice tinged with tears reaches me…
“Eiji-san?”
A cheerful, lively voice comes…
“…Eiji?”
A quiet but determined voice is heard.
Ah…why did it come to this?
Seeing these people who give off an almost yandere-like atmosphere, I can’t help but think this.
Yes…it all started a few months ago.

Chapter 2: The End Result of Hard Work
“You’re fired.”
This is “AO Brittia,” one of Japan’s few major video production companies. It’s quite an impressive company with a history of winning the top prize at the global video production contest “SMART VIEW.”
Because of this, many famous YouTubers, VTubers, and streamers often send video requests. It’s said that if you join this company, your future will be secure.
I, Kojima Yusuke, who belong to this company, have been told by my boss that I’m fired.
…What? What??
“W-What do you mean!?”
I received a message from this person early in the morning to come to the office. After making an effort to find the time and coming here, I’m being told I’m fired…How can I accept this?
Despite my feelings, my boss, while picking his ear, begins to explain.
“Well, you’re just not needed anymore. That’s all.”
“…Huh?”
I can’t understand what this person in front of me is saying…Not needed, so fired?
“…Excuse me, but…isn’t it a bit harsh to fire someone for personal reasons in this day and age?”
I try to persuade my boss, who seems disinterested. Of course, I want to persuade him. Why do I have to leave this company I worked so hard to get into just because of a reason like “not needed” when I’m constantly given unreasonable orders?
“Ah…you’re persistent. If I say you’re not needed, then you’re not needed for this company. New talent will be coming in soon. I appreciate the effort you’ve put in, but that’s it. Finish your last task and leave.”
After saying that, my boss, or rather, the person who was supposed to be my boss, heads off somewhere else.
“…Ha-ha, what’s that?”
The shock is so great that I collapse to my knees. Some people who feel sorry for me try to speak to me, but…right now, I want to be alone.
“…Well, I guess I’ll just do the last job.”
I manage to switch gears and say that, but the fact that I’ve been fired keeps running through my mind, making me work several hours later than usual.
After finishing my work, I quietly said, “Thank you for everything…” and left the large company where I had worked.
I lost my job. That…is unavoidable.
If I don’t produce results, it’s inevitable to receive such a declaration, I think.
However, I took some pride in my work in video production, and it was fulfilling.
I pushed myself, sometimes even collapsing from overwork due to my boss’s unreasonable orders, but I completed all my tasks.
I take some pride in having gotten along well with those who sent requests occasionally. I used my experience to help make unknown people somewhat famous, and occasionally even train talents to compete with top streamers.
I really enjoyed supporting people who are passionate about their work in the screen…it was my reason for living.
“…And now, being declared useless and currently unemployed…Are you kidding me?”
My sadness overtakes my anger.
…Even though I worked hard…
I often hear that those who put in effort are rewarded, or that good people are rewarded, but…those words sound empty to me now.
“Ha-ha…What was I working so hard for…Ah…Damn it.”
Thinking back on the past, my vision blurs for a moment. Was it raining…? But for now, staying like this might be better.
—
“…So…what should I do from here…I have savings, but…I hesitate to tell my parents…”
After calming down a bit, I sit on a bench in a park, watching children play, and think about what to do next.
I could rely on my parents, but…that’s a last resort. Seeing their joy when I got the job at AO Brittia…there’s no way I can tell them I was fired.
At least, it’s fortunate that I have savings.
With that, I won’t be kicked out of my apartment…but…
“I need to find a job quickly…If I’m lucky, I might find another video company…Worst case, I’ll have to take on physical labor jobs…Ugh…Why is this happening…”
I feel a bit depressed. It’s hard to think of anything positive right after quitting.
What should I do…If things continue like this, I might stay unemployed, lose the will to work, and end up dying alone…No, no, no! I’m thinking too much…! R-Right? I’m thinking too much, right…?
I’m starting to get scared as my own words seem more real.
While thinking about this…I suddenly hear a voice.
“…Um, excuse me!”
“?Y-Yes…?”
Turning towards the voice, I see a woman who looks a bit nervous, her body stiff. Her face is hard to see due to her hat, but she has simple, long black hair and medium eyes, not too sharp nor drooping. In contrast, her nose and jawline are clear, and her face shape is well-defined.
She gives off a slightly intimidating impression, but from my experience with various people, I don’t get that feeling.
Still, she’s very beautiful. To be approached by someone like her…Wait, but this voice sounds familiar…
“Ah, you’re…! Um…Eiji-san!!
…Is that right?”
“…Huh? Eiji??”
Eiji…Could it be the Eiji I knew from middle school who was a YouTuber?
Yes, I used to be a YouTuber named Eiji during middle school. I wasn’t among the top well-known, but I was somehow popular. When my parents found out, they asked me to quit.
Although I wanted to continue, I left the YouTube world during my third year of middle school due to the exams.
I thought that part of my life was forever sealed as a dark history…I never thought I would hear that name again.
Embarrassed, I can’t say “Yes, that’s me,” so I try to deflect and ask the beautiful woman about herself.
“Um…who exactly are you…?”
She seems to remember she needs to introduce herself and opens her mouth, but keeps looking around, hesitating to speak.
“Um…?”
Seeing her behavior, I start to think something is off and speak up.
“P-Please come with me!”
“Eh, wait!”
Suddenly, she grabs my hand forcefully and tries to take me somewhere. Perhaps because I hadn’t expected her actions, I was carried away, just like that.
…Is this okay?
Feeling a bit anxious, I follow the beautiful woman until we reach a deserted alley.
“Um, why are we here…?”
“Sorry…It was a bit inconvenient to introduce myself there…So, let me start over.”
She catches her breath, places her hand on her chest, and speaks formally.
“My name is Miyamoto Kanna…I’m a YouTuber who works as a game streamer, KANNA.”
“Eh…Eh!?”
I can’t hide my surprise at her name.
If she’s KANNA, she’s…a big-name streamer with over 5 million subscribers.
