Vol 3 Chapter 63 – The Lewd Sister
We arrived in the town nearest to where we had beaten the bandits to a pulp.
It looked like a good-sized place. There was a lot of foot traffic.
A major reason for stopping in a town was, of course, the need to buy food and supplies, but more importantly, to report that we had defeated the bandits.
After all, there’s usually a subjugation request out for types like them.
Naturally, the reward money changes depending on the severity of their crimes.
Petty crooks who only engage in minor misdeeds are assigned a proportional reward, so it’s rare for powerful bounty hunters or adventurers to take on those requests.
That’s why villains in this world can actually live surprisingly long, as long as they don’t do anything too evil.
Well, that’s the general rule, anyway. Sometimes they still get crushed by something akin to a natural disaster, like the Al-Ann combo.
All I can say for those bandits is, my condolences.
And though these two couldn’t care less, this is our main source of income.
Bounty hunting.
It’s surprisingly profitable.
Of course, there’s no doubt that it’s dangerous. It’s the kind of business where if the tables are turned on you, you lose your life.
That’s why there are so few to begin with, and since many overestimate themselves and get killed, almost no one can make a living this way.
And even if things go well, you might get targeted for revenge.
But none of that matters to these two, does it…
However, when you’re talking about freaks of nature on the level of Al and Antares, it’s a different story.
First off, the two of them are too strong to ever lose. And if someone came seeking revenge, they’d probably see it as another villain coming to be judged and gleefully slaughter them.
I wish they’d just properly accept the money…
“Goodwill that asks for something in return isn’t goodwill.”
“That is correct. Even if you do not ask for it, there will always be someone watching over you. There are times when such people will come to your aid.”
Ugh, these two…
What is with this troublesome breed of people…
It’d be insufferable if they forced these ideals on others, but they don’t do that.
Why do they have to have common sense in that one area? Just be completely unhinged already!
“Say what you want, but I’m reporting this and we’re getting paid. It’s not like having money is a problem. Besides, if we just left the bodies there, it’d cause problems, wouldn’t it?”
“”Huh? Why?””
The two of them tilted their heads in genuine confusion.
Why do they think it’s okay to just leave dead bodies lying around…?
For two people who have produced a massive number of corpses, it’s beyond strange that they’ve never once thought about cleaning up afterward.
“An animal or a monster will just eat them, so it’s not a problem.”
“Indeed!”
You have got to be kidding me…
The two idiots puffed out their chests, full of confidence.
Monsters aside, what are you going to do if animals get a taste for human flesh and start attacking people…
“Anyway, just shut up and follow me, you zero-life-skills combo.”
And so, with the two grumbling idiots in tow, I started walking.
Why do I, a weapon, have to be the one leading these humans around?! It makes no sense!
◆
Basically, any town above a certain size has a Guild.
An odd-job service is very important in this world.
After all, they do everything from cleaning the town to hunting bounties and monsters.
Though the casualty rate is insane.
And Guilds are usually bustling places.
That’s because adventurers tend to congregate there.
However, my impression upon entering this town’s Guild was…
“…It’s rather deserted, isn’t it.”
Rather… no, it was practically empty.
The number of Guild employees working there seemed proportionally small as well.
A Guild is supposed to be a place crowded with people, no matter where you go…
“Doesn’t it always feel like this?”
“You have absolutely no memory for things you’re not interested in, do you, Al?”
Al, who looked like he couldn’t possibly care less.
It’s probably because his brain is almost entirely occupied with killing villains.
Poor thing… This is probably incurable short of death.
As I was thinking that, we were able to get service at the reception desk right away, since it was so empty.
“Understood. We will launch an investigation from the Guild, and once confirmation is made, we will pay out the reward.”
“Thank you. By the way, I was a little curious—is this town always so quiet?”
At my question, the receptionist’s face twisted into a troubled expression.
I quite like seeing troubled looks on human faces. They’re so comical.
“Well, no. It wasn’t like this before. There was a big incident recently, you see…”
“Ah—”
I cut the conversation short there.
If she says outright that they’re in trouble, the Al-Ann combo will definitely react.
These two may be dangerous, but they are, for all intents and purposes, good people. They can use holy swords, after all.
So, they’ll no doubt try to stick their noses into this mess.
And if they do, I’m the one who’ll have to do all the fighting. Absolutely not.
“Alright, Al, Antares. We’re going to the inn.”
“You are not going to ask for details?”
“Nope.”
And with that, I led the two idiots out of the Guild.
It’s annoying that we have to stay in town until we get the reward money.
I’ll just have to pray that trouble doesn’t find us in the meantime.
…Well, I’m sure nothing like that will happen!
With that thought, I left the Guild.

“Would you like some soup?”
“Hm?”
Immediately after leaving the Guild, we ran into a sister handing out soup.
Her sister’s habit clung to her figure, revealing the lines of her body. She was a lewd sister.
…Tch.
