Big Sister Teacher’s Makeup Class Time (2)
Let’s talk about something from a little while back.
One thousand years ago. My meeting with Big Sister As.
Back then, I was gradually expanding my power as the Demon King, but I was still young and had few subordinates.
And when we clashed with the dragonute clan at the border of our territories, there was an exceptionally strong warrior.
The black-winged dragonute—Asmeia.
Our one-on-one duel lasted for three days and was so fierce that it changed the surrounding terrain. In the end, I won by a razor-thin margin, but right after that, the bedrock beneath our feet collapsed, and both of us fell to the bottom of the valley.
The exact moment we fell, I instinctively shielded Asmeia. I don’t even know the reason myself. She was an enemy. A person I had been trying to kill. Yet, my body just moved on its own.
As a result, Asmeia got away with light injuries, but I got caught up in the falling rocks, and combined with the damage from the duel, I ended up suffering major injuries.
The bottom of the valley. A dragonute who couldn’t fly due to her injured wings, and a dying Demon King who couldn’t move.
She must have hesitated. If she killed me right here, she could claim she won the duel. But killing an opponent who had shielded her and suffered severe injuries as a result was something the pride of a dragonute wouldn’t allow, it seems.
“I am returning the favor. Until your wounds heal, I will let you live.”
A rough but accurate first-aid treatment. Searching for herbs, scooping up water, and starting a fire.
When I regained consciousness a few days later, Asmeia was sleeping by my side.
She probably fell asleep while keeping watch over the bonfire.
Her sleeping face was gentle, without a single shred of the ferocity she showed on the battlefield.
And during this life together, Asmeia would come to know.
An unexpected side of the young Demon King—one that wasn’t very Demon King-like at all.
Back then, my immunity to women was hopelessly non-existent. Growing up on a battlefield full of nothing but men, I had almost zero experience talking properly with a woman. Then, enter Asmeia. Beautiful white skin, glossy black hair, and—overwhelmingly huge breasts. Our distance was close in the narrow space at the bottom of the valley. Our bodies would touch every single time she treated me.
“Are you… perhaps shy?”
“I’m not shy. It’s just that my wounds are hot.”
“Even your ears are red, though.”
“…Shut up.”
The Demon King was blushing and turning his eyes away. A man who was feared on the battlefield couldn’t even match eyes properly just because a woman got close to his body.
Inside Asmeia, something collapsed decisively.
This man is strong. He is definitely strong. But he is hopelessly clumsy, and hopelessly risky. He is an idiot who would shield her and take major injuries, and in front of a woman, he turns red like a boy.
—I can’t leave him alone.
According to what the person herself told me later, that was the kind of emotion it was.
Leaping past frameworks like enemy or ally, she just felt a strong conviction that “this guy needs someone by his side to fuss over him.”
I never imagined back then that a relationship starting from being meddlesome would last for a thousand years, though.
Eventually, rescue from both factions arrived, and our life together at the bottom of the valley ended.
Sandwiched between the Demon King’s subordinates and the dragonute clan, it was a glare-down once again.
But Asmeia faced the dragonute clan and declared this:
“I am going to become this person’s subordinate. I have decided so.”
The dragonute clan goes into an uproar. My subordinates roll their eyes too.
Only Asmeia herself held the most composed face, announcing it like an established fact.
Ever since, Asmeia became my staff officer.
Even though she uses a serene face to call me “Lord Erdrain” in public, she switches to “little brother” whenever we are completely alone. A cold-headed staff officer during military councils. A overprotective older sister who manages everything from my meals to my sleeping hours during any other time.
And that older sister power was fully displayed even in the middle of military councils.
For example, when I suggested a slightly reckless strategy.
While feeling troubled, all of my subordinates would stay completely quiet. There was nobody with the guts to go against the Demon King.
But there was a single woman who would open her mouth with a cool face.
“No, you can’t♪”
A smile that leaves no room for argument.
Even if I throw back, “Let me hear your reason for rejecting it,” she pushes through with, “No means no♪”
Usually, it ended with me giving in.
Behind the scenes, the soldiers were whispering among themselves.
—”The woman who whips the Demon King into shape.”
The fact that I couldn’t deny it is the most frustrating part.
—
The makeup class—which was just a name for our time alone together—ended, and Big Sister As opened the classroom door.
Lyco was still standing firmly on her feet in the hallway.
Keeping her arms crossed, her tail bristled up, and her cheeks pouted, she hadn’t moved a single step away.
“…Stealing a march, I told you it is forbidden, right?”
A low voice. The highlight hasn’t returned to her amber eyes.
In response, Big Sister As lets out a sweet smile without a trace of feeling bad about it.
“This is a makeup class, so it’s safe♪”
Don’t go thinking everything is allowed just because you call it a makeup class.
“By the way, because your reflection on improper heterosexual association is insufficient, I plan on having another makeup class tomorrow too♪”
Lyco’s tail bristled up even more with a loud puff.
Her silver fur stands on end, and a low growling sound can be heard.
“What Sister As is worried about isn’t Master, but that Master will get taken by me. Selfish. That kind of thing makes people dislike you.”
“Oh, you caught me? But it’s fine. Because I’m the older sister♪”
What do you mean, “Because I’m the older sister”?
Just as I was thinking that, the highlight disappeared from Big Sister As’s eyes too.
Neither of them draws back a single step. The air gradually gets charged with static electricity.
What am I supposed to do? At this rate, I am going to get crushed right between the glints of these yandere eyes.
—If so, now is my only chance.
The awareness of the two girls is completely pointed toward each other. This single split second when I disappeared from their vision.
The exact same method as when I slipped through the enemy lines by piercing a gap in their encirclement one thousand years ago.
Deadening my sounds. Erasing my presence. Backing away along the wall. Turning the corner. Moving down the hallway while deadening my footsteps.
I can still feel the presence of sparks flying behind my back. Alright, I haven’t been noticed.
If I return to the dorm just like this, today will be peaceful.
Retreating is the absolute basic of the basics on a battlefield. Skill in how you escape is the scale to measure a general’s capacity, you know.
Right now, the ones I am escaping from are my own circle, but let’s go ahead and say the essence is the same.
Turning two corners, I reached the stairs. I can breathe a sigh of relief now.
Just as I thought that.
“—You over there, Demon King. Stop right there.”
My feet froze.
When I look back, a golden hair was standing on the other side of the hallway.
A single beautiful girl leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.
Clarissa.
While still wearing her student council armband, she is looking down at me. Because she is a little bit taller than Eldi’s body, the angle she looks down from is oddly bossy.
“Your quickness in running away is as sharp as ever, isn’t it?”
“…How long have you been here, Clara?”
“From the start. I have been around this area the entire time during your makeup class, though.”
Does the student council have that much free time?
“Come along. I have something to discuss in the student council room.”
“I’m already tired today. Make it tomorrow.”
“You have no right to refuse.”
“Too much trouble.”
“…You won’t… come with me?”
Don’t go making a face like you’re about to cry all of a sudden. I’m weak against that kind of thing.
“…Fine. I’ll go.”
Letting out a single sigh. Clara’s expression brightens up all at once.
For a split second. For just a mere split second, she makes the face of a girl her age—and quickly fixes it with, “I-it’s not like I wanted you to come that badly or anything, though.”
Honestly, she is someone who just can’t be honest.
—
At the exact same time.
Lyco and Asmeia, who had been glaring at each other across the corner of the hallway, suddenly came back to themselves.
“…Master?”
“Little brother?”
They look back.
Inside the hallway, there is no sign of Erdrain.
Lyco’s ears stand straight up. The tip of her nose moves.
Trying to trace his scent, she narrows her eyebrows.
“He disappeared a long time ago.”
“He escaped…?”
“Probably, toward that direction.”
Lyco’s nose caught the remaining scent.
What lay ahead was—the student council room.
“Miss Clara…?”
“Stolen away… by a home-wrecking cat…!”
As expected, the highlight disappeared from the eyes of the two girls once again.
