- Chapter 13 - The Yandere Night-Stalking Sisters
The Yandere Night-Stalking Sisters
After school.
As I left the classroom and started walking down the hallway, I heard footsteps behind me.
“Hey, that magic you used earlier was amazing!”
Zekt caught up with me. His eyes were shining brightly. It was pure interest.
“Are you seriously F-rank?”
“The test results say so, so that’s what it is.”
I wasn’t lying. The magic rank of Eldi’s body really is F.
It’s just that the inside happens to be a Demon King from a thousand years ago.
“I’m going to do some independent magic practice after school today. Do you want to come?”
“Pass. I’m tired.”
“Got it. See you tomorrow, then.”
Zekt ran off toward his friends.
Clara, who was walking over from the other end of the hallway, watched him leave with a steady gaze.
“…You two seem to get along pretty well.”
She approached me, still wearing her student council armband.
“We don’t get along that well. He just strikes up conversations with me on his own.”
“Zekt. An A-rank honor student. The student council keeps track of him too, but…”
Her tone was businesslike. But—the corners of her mouth were pouting just a tiny bit.
“Well, getting along with an honor student isn’t a bad thing. I suppose a poorly behaved Demon King might actually turn into a decent person.”
“The poorly behaved part was from my past life, wasn’t it?”
“A soul doesn’t really change all that easily, you know.”
Man, she really doesn’t hold back.
“Well then, why don’t you straighten me out properly, Miss Honor Student Hero?”
I meant it as a light joke. But Clara’s expression changed for just a split second.
“I hate when you put it like that. I’m not a Hero or anything. I’m just a traitor who gave her body and soul to the Demon King.”
—Right after saying it, she covered her mouth.
Underneath her blonde hair, she turned completely red all the way to the tips of her ears in an instant.
“Uh, ah… n-no, that’s not it! That was just a figure of speech!”
Clara turned on her heel at blinding speed.
It took all of three seconds for her student council armband to disappear around the corner of the hallway.
The former Hero’s running speed was alive and well.
—Gave her body and soul, huh.
I don’t remember her giving me her body, though. Well, whatever.
—
That night. Inside my own room in the dorm.
Since I was exhausted from using magic for the first time in a while, I lay down on my bed and closed my eyes.
Just when my consciousness was about to drift off—a presence woke me up.
The window had been opened before I knew it. The curtains were fluttering in the night wind.
A silver shadow was sitting right on the window frame. That’s breaking and entering, you know.
Well, I guess I’m to blame too for not locking it.
“…Lyco, what did you come here for?”
“I came to check if Master is safe.”
“This is the third floor, you know. At least come through the door.”
“The window is faster. I wanted to see Master as soon as possible.”
The logic left no room for argument, but there was definitely a problem with the ethics. This is a boys’ dorm.
Lyco climbed down from the window frame into the room and sat down right next to my bed.
Her silver ears were flattened. Her amber eyes glowed faintly in the dark.
A watchful stance. It was the exact same way she used to sit in front of me at our campsites a thousand years ago.
“Lyco, this is a boys’ dorm after all, so just go home for today.”
“No.”
“This is an order from the Demon King, you know.”
“Today, I’m going through a rebellious phase.”
Going through a rebellious phase after all this time? Exactly how old are you if you add it all up?
“Lyco, your rebellious phase ended a long time ago, didn’t it?”
“That was the first one. This is the second one.”
“How many phases are there going to be?”
“As long as Master tells me to go home, they’ll keep coming forever.”
What a convenient rebellious phase. She obeys every other order so perfectly, yet she completely rejects any instruction to stay away from me. That’s not a rebellious phase, that’s just being spoiled.
“I’ll stay here until Master falls asleep. Once you fall asleep, I’ll stay even more.”
“Don’t increase your numbers after I fall asleep.”
“Should I develop a duplication spell?”
“Don’t do that.”
While we were having that conversation, a knock came at the door, and it opened with a click.
Wait, I definitely locked that door, though!?
“Just doing the nightly rounds~”
I had a feeling it was a suspicious person. Right after that.
“—I came to take care of my little brother!”
Don’t declare your rounds and your personal business at the same time.
Plus, she brought her own slippers with her. This was the work of a repeat offender.
“The lights were still on in my little brother’s room. You aren’t sleeping properly, are you?”
“I was just about to sleep right now.”
“Well, that’s perfect then. I’ll brew some herbal tea for you. You’ll be able to sleep right away after you drink it.”
“I can sleep even without drinking it, though.”
“Are you saying you won’t drink your big sister’s herbal tea?”
She was totally a power-tripping big sister.
No, more importantly, I’m pretty sure the door was locked.
“The spare key comes with a teacher’s management authority.”
“That’s an abuse of official power, you know.”
“I’d prefer if you called it an abuse of love ♪”
I won’t.
She walked into the room—and the moment she saw Lyco, her expression froze for a split second.
She recovered her smile immediately.
She recovered it, but the temperature in her eyes dropped by about five degrees. Terrifying.
“Oh, so Lyco was here too.”
The highlights in her eyes disappeared.
“This is my territory.”
Lyco fought back. The highlights in her eyes disappeared, too.
It was total deja vu. I had seen this exact sight before.
I was just about to open my mouth to break it up—when right then.
Footsteps from the hallway. A perfectly disciplined pace.
“This is a nightly patrol by the student council.”
Clarissa appeared!
A patrol armband. A binder for records in her hand. Her official look was absolutely perfect.
But there was absolutely no reason for her to be patrolling a boys’ dorm at this hour.
And the moment she saw Lyco and Asmeia making themselves at home in the room, Clara’s eyebrows twitched.
“…What are you two doing here?”
“Taking care of my little brother ♪”
“Guarding Master.”
“You both are way too full of personal desires. This is a disciplinary violation. Which one of you is the naughty one here?”
The highlights disappeared. That made three of them tonight.
Even while complaining, Clara marched right into the room.
She closed the door, placed her binder on the desk, and leaned her back against the wall.
She showed no sign of leaving. You too?
Three beautiful girls inside a cramped dorm room.
I tried to kick them out, but nobody moved.
“I was the first to arrive. Guarding duty goes to whoever gets here first.”
Lyco sat next to the bed and wrapped her tail loosely around my arm.
This isn’t guarding, it’s handcuffs. Her silver tail looked totally fluffy, but when it got wrapped around you with a demi-human’s muscle strength, it was pretty hard to get out of. Is she some kind of binding-type yandere?
“Since my little brother’s hands seem to be busy, big sister will feed it to you. Here, say ahh.”
Asmeia took a sip of the herbal tea she poured into the cup herself—and brought her face right up to mine. Wait. That movement is strange. Are you trying to feed it to me mouth-to-mouth!?
Right before her lips reached me—a silver tail smacked Asmeia right in the face.
The highlightless gazes of Lyco and Asmeia practically shot sparks at each other.
Please don’t have a territorial dispute right on top of my bed.
“The only reason I am here is as part of my nightly patrol. Since there are two suspicious individuals, I am simply keeping an eye on them.”
On the other hand, Clara was sitting on her knees on the floor of the small living space a little distance away.
The fact that she was being a little modest felt nice. Compared to the other two, anyway.
She was resting her binder on her lap, apparently writing down surveillance info on the suspicious individuals.
Just so you know, there are three suspicious individuals here, including you.
Anyway, every single one of them looked ready to dig in for the night.
I looked at the clock with an exasperated face. It was already almost midnight.
“I’m sleeping. You guys go back and sleep too.”
When I said that, the reactions of the three lined up perfectly.
“I’m guarding Master, so you can go ahead and sleep.”
“Should big sister sing a lullaby for you?”
“As the student council vice president, I have a duty to maintain public morals.”
Three different people making the exact same declaration that they weren’t leaving.
It couldn’t be helped. If I just went to sleep first, they would probably leave eventually.
I pulled up the blanket and closed my eyes.
But—the stares were painful.
When I opened my eyes just a tiny bit, I found myself being watched from three different directions.
Lyco was right next to me at point-blank range. Her amber eyes glowed faintly. She was barely blinking at all. Is she some kind of bird of prey?
Asmeia rested her chin on her hand at the table. She was smiling brightly with her herbal tea in one hand. It looked like a picture of a holy mother watching over her peacefully sleeping little brother—or at least it could look that way, but I wasn’t asleep yet. Please just let me sleep in peace.
Clara stayed sitting on her knees, pretending to watch Lyco and Asmeia while sneaking glances my way. You were totally peeking whenever I tried to sleep, weren’t you?
Plus, it looked like her knees were reaching their limit, because her thighs were shaking in tiny increments.
The fact that she refused to lose her posture out of sheer stubbornness was pretty impressive, though. I’ll give her credit for that.
“Yeah, there’s no way I can sleep like this.”
The three of them didn’t mean any harm. And because they didn’t mean any harm, it made things way worse.
Fifteen minutes passed. I gave up and decided to just pretend to be asleep.
I adjusted my breathing to be deep and steady, and relaxed my entire body. It was a ultimate move used by the Demon King whenever he was in a tight spot: playing dead perfectly—or rather, playing asleep.
Will they go home now?
The first one to move was Asmeia.
Calling it tiptoeing—would be a stretch. The wings were in the way. Even if she could silence her footsteps, her black wings made a rustling sound and threw off air pressure. It was catastrophically unsuited for stealth.
Even so, she seemed to think she was being perfectly stealthy, slipping into the sheets with a satisfied look on her face.
“Little brother, big sister is going to give you a big hug, okay? My little brother can’t sleep unless he’s hugged by his big sister, right?”
No such fact exists. Don’t make things up.
The next one to move was Lyco.
This one made absolutely no sound. Even her presence was faint. By the time I noticed her, she was already inside the blanket.
Where did she even get in from? Lyco curled up tightly right around my stomach area.
“Protecting Master’s stomach. This is the warmest spot.”
Are you protecting it or just using it for warmth?
Anyway, she was stuck right against my stomach. Her silver ears kept pressing and rubbing against me. It felt a bit nice and fluffy, but if I admitted that, she would definitely never leave this time, so I stayed quiet.
The only one left was Clara.
She didn’t move from the wall for quite a while.
Even after Lyco and Asmeia settled into the bed, Clara alone stayed far away.
The aura of her internal conflict came through loud and clear.
After hesitating for a few minutes.
Tiny footsteps approached slowly. Stopped. Approached again. Stopped.
She took five minutes to close a distance of about two meters.
Where did the former Hero’s charging power go?
“…This is an act to defeat the Demon King, after all.”
Who are you making excuses to?
“Attacking the enemy while they sleep is a basic rule of military strategy. In other words, this is a legitimate military operation—”
It looked like she finished arming herself with logic.
Clara took the final step—and lay down right on top of me.
Asmeia was on the left. Lyco was on my stomach. The only remaining space left was right on top. Even if it was the result of elimination, she ended up drawing the boldest position. Is she even aware of it?
“It can’t be helped. There’s no space left. It’s an unavoidable force. This is absolutely not my own intention.”
I don’t know anyone else who rides on top of a person due to an unavoidable force.
Her blonde hair brushed against my cheek. The heartbeat coming through her clothes was ridiculously fast.
“…Good night. Demon King Erdrain.”
Only her very last words were strangely honest.
Asmeia on my side. Lyco on my stomach. Clara on top of me.
I was surrounded by body heat from every single direction. I couldn’t move at all.
But—strangely enough, it didn’t feel bad.
The body heat of the three mixed together, making this cramped bed feel warmer than the throne room from a thousand years ago.
…Let’s just keep my eyes closed like this for a little bit.
Lyco’s sleeping breaths. Asmeia’s gentle breathing. Clara’s breathing, which was turning steady as she started to fall asleep.
The three sounds overlapped—and my consciousness slowly drifted away, too.
—
The next morning.
I woke up.
The first thing I noticed was that it was hard to breathe.
Asmeia, who was supposed to be sleeping beside me, had shifted into a position where she was cradling my head before I knew it. My face was completely buried in her chest.
Don’t try to kill me with huge breasts. The crisis of suffocation wasn’t anything new, but when it’s carried out while I’m asleep, there’s no way to defend against it.
“Nnn… little brother, don’t struggle… you can’t leave big sister, okay…”
She tightened her hold while talking in her sleep. The strength in her arms went up. She even closed her wings over me. No escape.
I tried to look to the other two for help—
Lyco, who was around my stomach area, was biting the hem of my pajamas.
A gentle bite. She was chewing on the fabric in her sleep. Is it a demi-human’s instinct? Does she have a habit of putting things that smell safe into her mouth?
“Master tastes good…”
I heard her mumble in her sleep.
Are you trying to eat me? That’s way too terrifying.
“Nmu… Master’s sweat tastes good…”
That part is even more terrifying.
Clara, you’re the only one I can count on now!
But Clara, who had fallen asleep while hugging me from above, hadn’t moved an inch even now that it was morning. Even though she was talking all about public morals and whatever, she had a completely happy sleeping face.
“I totally hate you for not looking only at me…”
The ending of her sleepy words sounded completely like a little kid. Is this the state of the student council vice president?
Anyway, I really wish someone would do something about Lyco’s teeth poking holes in my pajamas, Asmeia suffocating me with her breasts, and Clara’s drool soaking into my clothes.
“…Please, at least one of you wake up.”
I should have developed a spell to wake all three of them up at once back in my past life.
