Prologue: My Genius Classmate is a Little Girl Who Only Shows Her Sweet Side to Me
There’s a little girl in our class.
Her name is Hoshimiya Hime. She’s eight years old girl, with long, beautiful white hair and strikingly red eyes, as if stained with blood.
And no, she’s not a high schooler who just looks young.
She’s actually eight years old on paper, about the age for a second grader. Yet, she attends my second-year high school class.
Why has something like that taken place you ask? It’s because, the little girl named Hoshimiya Hime is a “genius little girl” who skipped grades all the way to here.
She is, let’s just say, stands out in every way.
Contrary to her adorable, childlike appearance, her intellect surpasses everyone else’s. Her demeanor is also calm, mature—so much so that it’s hard to believe she’s only eight, which overall makes her — incredibly difficult to approach.
…Or at least, that’s what I thought until yesterday.
“G-good morning, Hoshimiya-san.”
“…Thank you.”
A classmate greeted Hoshimiya-san as she arrived at the classroom in the morning.
Hoshimiya-san, however, only gave a slight nod without even looking at them, and walked straight to her seat.
Then, as always, she sat down at the desk next to mine… and began reading a book in silence.
She usually spends her time at school like this, reading thick English books that look hard to understand just at a glance.
—Better not disturb her.
Her mind might hold the potential to change Japan’s… no, the world’s future. So, we all have an unspoken rule to keep the classroom quiet for her concentration.
Which is why I also stayed silent, but—
“…Yohei-kun, why aren’t you saying anything to me?”
To my surprise, she was the one to speak up to me.
“Even though we chatted so much yesterday!”
Moreover, Hoshimiya san was even puffed her cheeks in a sulky way. Though she’s usually expressionless, only with me does she show such an adorable, childlike side of hers.
“Oh, uh, I thought it’d be better not to interrupt your reading…”
“Eh? Yohei-kun, to think you’re being so considerate, so wonderful. I’m sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were ignoring me.”
“I’d never ignore you.”
“Really!? Oh, I’m so happy…!”
At my words, Hoshimiya-san’s pouty face brightened immediately.
She exhaled in relief and then gave me a soft, relaxed ~funya -like smile.
“Well then, from tomorrow, I won’t bring any books, so please feel free to talk to me. I’m not good at starting conversations, so I’d prefer if you, Youhei-kun could talk to me casually.”
“No, I-I mean… More than the face that I’d feel bad interrupting you, and… I think it’s more like, reading is a way more meaningful for you to spend your time on rather than talking to me.”
“There’s no more meaningful time in this world than chatting with Yohei-kun. Instead, I think these books are just getting in my way.”
With that, Hoshimiya-san closed her book, put it on her desk, and right when I thought that she had just come over, she went and sat on my lap.
“With that, it’s chat time with Yohei-kun now.”
“H-Hoshimiya-san… we’re drawing attention! Everyone’s looking!”
Even though it’s already rare to see her open her mouth.
And the fact that the class was already staring in surprise just because she was talking, and now that she’s sitting on my lap… it’s getting pretty chaotic.
“H-Hey! Hoshimiya-san is actually talking to someone!?”
“And with some nobody mob like him!”
“Damn it… that mob! Even I want her to sit on my lap!”
Hey, enough with the “mob” comments! Well, even I’m aware that I’m just an ordinary mob that is found just anywhere! Also, who was the one who said that last part? I’ll make sure you never get near Hoshimiya-san, Got It!
…But despite my worries regarding our classmates’ reactions, Hoshimiya-san seemed completely unfazed by all that uproar.
“Come to think of it… why do you call me by my last name? I’m not just Hoshimiya; I have a name, ‘Hime.’ also you know? Call me by my first name. Even though Youhei is older than me, you should at least be able to do that, right?”
In fact, she seemed more concerned with how I addressed her.
“I mean, since you’re going to marry Sei-oneechan, I think you should practice using our first names to avoid confusion.”
That’s right.
For some reason, this little girl seems extremely fond of me… and has been urging me to marry her sister all throughout.
“Then you will have the same last name as my Oneechan. And once you’re married, I get to be your little sister in law♪ I just can’t help but really look forward to that day eagerly”
“You’re jumping the gun! Besides, I haven’t decided on marry your sister.”
“Nope, it’s not Hoshimiya. If you don’t call me by my first name, I’ll stay here on your lap and attend the entire class.”
Saying that, Hoshimiya-san leaned back, putting her complete weight against me, as if declaring, ‘I am not moving an inch.’ Her soft, squishy weight pressed against me, as I couldn’t help but feel a little flustered and troubled.
Even though I don’t mind her, but it’s embarrassing with everyone watching us especially.
Calling a girl by her first name is also embarrassing, but since she’s still a child, it’s not as bad as I think, maybe.
I gathered my courage and addressed her by her first name.
“Ahem… Hime. Is that okay?”
“…Ehehe♪ I had Yohei-kun call me by my first name! I guess, this means you’ll have to take responsibility and make me your little sister-law compulsorily.”
“Just how do we come to that?”
“Ah, but your lap feels more comfortable, so I’ll stay here and attend the class today.”
“That’s not what we agreed on now did we.”
… Just how did things end up like this?
Even though until yesterday, I was living a normal life, like any other “background character” boy that can be found in any school.
But ever since I chatted with her after-school time yesterday… it feels like my life has completely changed.
