The Reason Why I was Cheated on By My Girlfriend - Chapter 9
Don’t Go (2)
Yua’s POV
The day goes by in no time.
I can’t remember anything what happened today—classes, conversations with friends, nothing.
Suddenly,
“Yua.”
It’s Haru-kun’s voice.
I can tell even without looking. He’s standing in front of my desk.
“…what is it?”
“I’m heading home. What about you?”
What’s with that way of inviting me to go home with you?
Well, it doesn’t really matter.
“I’m going home too.”
“Alright, then let’s go.”
“…yeah.”
Haru-kun’s atmosphere is really different today.
It feels like he has made some sort of resolve.
He’s definitely going to say something on the way home, right?
What should I do? Should I think of an answer or something in advance?
…wait, we’re already outside!?
That was fast. Hold on. Please give me a little more time.
I have to think of an answer.
What should I do in situations like this?
Maybe keeping it simple is better?
But, Haru-kun is probably thinking about various things—
“─Haru-kun!”
Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice said so.
When I turn around, I see a familiar girl standing there.
Sakashita Kaguya-san.
She’s probably the most famous second-year student in our school.
She has a distinctive long black hair.
She’s a very beautiful person, someone you’d admire even if you’re a girl.
“Haruki-san. Are you heading home now?”
For someone like her to call out to Haru-kun.
She is standing directly in front of Haru-kun and is speaking to him in a friendly manner.
“Ah, are you going home too, Kaguya?”
“Yes! If it’s alright with you, do you want to walk home together?”
I don’t understand.
What’s this? What’s going on?
“Hey…”
I somehow managed to say so.
Both of them look at me at the same time.
“Haruki-san. Who is this person?”
“Ah, she is my childhood friend.”
“I see. So she’s Niimi Yua-san.”
…wait, wait. I don’t get it. I don’t understand.
“I’m Sakashita Kaguya. Nice to meet you. This is our first meeting, right?”
Why is Sakashita-san here?
Why is she calling Haru-kun by his first name?
“I’m currently dating Haruki-san. I hope we can get along.”
……
“…ah, yeah, nice to meet you.”
“Is it alright if I call you Yua-san?”
“…yeah, that’s fine.”
“I’m really happy. After hearing Haruki-san saying a lot of things about you, I’d really like to become your friend.”
……
“Yua.”
Haru-kun calls out to me.
“I’m sorry, it seems like I’m walking home with Kaguya today.”
……
“Haruki-san, were you planning to go home with Yua-san?”
“No, it’s just that our home is in the same direction.”
Wait, wait, wait a minute.
What is this? This has to be a dream, right? Why are they both here? Why? Why?
“Since we’re all here, why don’t we go home together?”
“…if Kaguya is okay with it.”
“Yua-san, what do you think?”
“…yeah. It’s fine.”
…ah.
“Then, shall we go?”
Sakashita-san happily grabs Haru-kun’s hand, like a couple.
“Haru-kun, did you read the book I told you about yesterday?”
“Yeah. Thanks to that, I didn’t get enough sleep.”
…eh? Didn’t get enough sleep?
Haru-kun, you said it was because you were thinking about me in the morning.
“Ah, I understand what you’re talking about. You can lose track of time reading that book.”
What’s with this person…? Get out of my way.
The one who should be standing next to Haru-kun is me. That place next to Haru-kun is my place.
“Ah, I’m sorry. We were just talking between the two of us.”
“……”
“Yua-san, do you like reading?”
“…I don’t read at all.”
Why is she talking to me so casually?
“That’s a shame.”
Since when did she start dating Haru-kun?
“Haruki-san…”
Stop. Don’t call him by his name.
“No one is at home today…”
Wait, what?
What are you talking about in front of me?
“Seriously? Got it. I’ll come by later.”
“Wait a minute.”
Oh no, I just said it without thinking.
“…Haru-kun, please explain.”
“About what?”
“…all of it! Everything!”
“Even if you say everything…”
“Are you going to Sakashita-san’s house now?”
“Ah, yeah, that’s right.”
“…what are you going there for?”
“What for…? It’s obvious, isn’t it?”
Haru-kun looks at me and smiles.
“Just to do the same thing as you did.”
“Same thing?”
“Well, it means what it means.”
Haru-kun takes Sakashita-san’s hand and turns his back to me.
“Wait.”
Even though I said so, they didn’t stop.
Ignoring me, the two of them walk away.
“Wait!”
My voice sounds hoarse.
They can’t even hear me.
“…why?”
My mind is a mess.
Tears are running down my cheeks.
Something hot is rising up from deep within my stomach.
“…please look at me, Haru-kun.”
Haru-kun didn’t bother to turn around.
He continues to talk happily with Sakashita-san, walking further away.
“…please, don’t go.”
I want to chase after them, but my legs just won’t move.
Eventually, my knees gave out.
I place both of my hands on the ground.
Then, I look up.
The whole world seems distorted and blurry.
“…no, don’t go. Please, I’m begging you.”
In the blurry world, the only thing I can see are the two of them, walking side by side, holding hands.
They look beautiful.
They seem like a perfect match.
There is no room for me in that scene.
I have betrayed Haru-kun so many times, I have no right to chase after him.
“…no, I don’t want it. I don’t want it.”
‘—Just to do the same thing as you did.’
“…ah.”
Everything’s connected.
“Did you…see it?”
The way Haru-kun has been avoiding me.
His strange behaviour lately.
It all came together.
“……”
A voiceless scream.
I don’t read much, but I’m familiar with that expression.
My throat hurts so much it feels like it might tear.
I’m probably screaming, but I can’t tell. I can’t hear it.
I’m surely crying and screaming.
I know the truth.
I don’t have the right to lament.
But…but…but…
I don’t want this. I really don’t want this. Haru-kun…I don’t want this.
We promised.
You promised me that we’d be together forever, Haru-kun…so please, don’t go.
I don’t remember anything after that.
Somehow, I find myself standing in my room.
I don’t even remember how I walk back here. I’m amazed I didn’t get hit by a car.
Huddled in the corner of the room in my uniform, I hug my knees.
When I look up, the light shining through the window illuminates my face.
“……”
It’s beautiful.
Everything in this world is beautiful…everything except me.
I’m the only one who’s filthy and dirty.
This is a fitting end for me.
“…ahaha.”
It’s funny.
“…ahahaha.”
I can’t help but laugh.
“Ahahahaha.”
I continue laughing to myself, like a broken toy.
somebody’s mentally unstable…
