The Reason Why I was Cheated on By My Girlfriend - Chapter 8
Don’t Go (1)
Yua’s POV
‘Haru-kun! When we grow up, let’s get married, okay?’
‘Yeah! We’ll be together forever!’
A memory from childhood.
A beautiful memory that remains in my mind.
Haru-kun and I are always together.
When we were in kindergarten, we slept in the same futon almost every day, and we even took baths together too.
In grade school, we spent more time together than we did with our other friends. Even when we were teased by others in the higher grades, we never grew apart. We had fights, but we always made up.
In middle school, we chose different clubs. Although we spent less time together, it was still natural for us to go to school together and hang out on weekends.
Since Haru-kun is good at studying, I worked really hard to prepare for exams so we could attend the same high school.
I believed that we would always be together, forever.
However—
Stop. Don’t come in.
Please don’t taint this place, these memories.
I’m begging you, please.
I’d be willing to give up everything else. So—
“—Stop it!!”
…hmm? Is this my room?
“…that dream again.”
I’m breathing heavily.
My whole body is sticky with sweat.
“…I haven’t had this dream lately.”
It’s all Haru-kun’s fault.
He was acting all strange yesterday.
That’s why I had this dream. It’s all Haru-kun’s fault.
“…my body is so hot.”
Oh no, my hands are moving on their own.
I have to stop this.
“…ahnn, this is not enough.”
Before, I used to be afraid just to stroke the surface.
But now, I don’t even hesitate inserting my fingers.
Before, I didn’t know what it felt like inside.
But now, I know all the places that feel good.
“…Haru-kun…Haru-kun.”
I’m going crazy.
Haru-kun, come here quickly.
You promised me, remember?
That we’d be together forever.
I hate Haru-kun for leaving me alone.
Even though I make a move on him every day, he never makes a move on me.
Why? Why won’t you make a move on me?
…I hate him. I hate him.
I really hate that person.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Haru-kun! Good morning!”
In the morning, just as promised, Haru-kun comes to pick me up.
“How are you? Feeling better?”
I stand next to him outside the front door and said so.
“…yeah.”
Ahahaha, he looks sleepy.
He has a bit of dark circles under his eyes.
“You didn’t sleep well last night?”
“I’m fine. I slept for about two hours.”
It seems he didn’t get enough sleep last night
Was he doing something? Or was he thinking about something?
“I was thinking about you, Yua.”
“Ah, I see. About me…”
What should I do? I usually just directly ask him about it.
…eh? What did Haru-kun just say?
“…about me?”
After a slight pause, I asked so.
Normally, I’m sure my face would be blushing in red.
But right now, I feel uneasy.
Does that mean…Haru-kun is acting strange lately because of me?
“Hey, Haru-kun?”
I carefully take a peek at his face.
For a moment, it feels like time has stopped.
“I was counting all of your good points, Yua.”
Haru-kun is smiling. He has a very refreshing atmosphere.
“For example, how you can genuinely worry about someone.”
“W-Wait…”
“How you can’t abandon someone in trouble.”
“Stop…”
“And also, the shy smile you give when you help someone.”
“Haru-kun!”
I said so loudly.
My heart is throbbing loudly.
“Why are you saying such things? What are you trying to do?”
“Nothing. I just said what I wanted to say.”
“That’s a total lie. You’ve never done anything like this before.”
I clench the hand I’m hiding behind my back.
Something’s definitely off about Haru-kun.
“What are you trying to do?”
I ask the same question again.
“Nothing…”
He looks away for a moment, then he turns to me with a serious expression on his face.
“I just thought that if I don’t say that I want to say, it won’t get across. That’s all.”
He murmurs so softly.
Then Haru-kun starts walking.
“…no, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
After muttering so to myself, I catch up to Haru-kun and walk beside him.
I take a deep breath to calm myself down.
“Hey, what are you really trying to say?”
The anxiety just won’t go away.
I’ve never seen Haru-kun like this before.
“Yua, do you have someone you like?”
I stop in my tracks.
After taking a few steps, Haru-kun turns around to speak.
“Are you that surprised?”
“W-Well, of course!”
I’m completely surprised, really surprised.
This is love talk, right? Haru-kun, of all people?
“Haru-kun, you’re interested in romance?”
I continue to walk and asked so.
“Well, of course. I’m a high school student, after all.”
He matches my pace and walk beside me as he replies.
“By the way, I do have someone I like.”
“…ah.”
No, no, ‘ah’ isn’t the right reaction.
I should say something more.
For example…hmm?
I can’t think of anything.
I’m at a loss for words.
“Is it someone from the same school?”
“Of course.”
He’s answering. He’s actually saying it.
What should I do? I’m really curious about it, but I maybe shouldn’t ask about it. But then again, I really do want to know.
“…what kind of person is she?”
“She’s someone kind. Someone who can’t ignore people in trouble.”
“……”
Say something! Say something!
B-But, this is clearly leading towards a confession!
The fact he said that not able to ignore people in trouble is one of my good points earlier.
Wait, wait, I’m not ready for this.
Why so suddenly? Why today? Why on a day like this, with nothing special happening?
“…does she have a short hair?”
I ask so while looking directly at his face.
Afterabout two seconds, Haru-kun looks back forwards and says,
“It’s a secret.”
Why keep that a secret!
My hair is semi-long, just touching my shoulders. But, yeah, Haru-kun probably doesn’t know the names of hairstyles.
Maybe he can’t tell if my hair is long or short.
“What about you, Yua?”
Haru-kun asked so.
“What kind of person do you like?”
…why ask this now?
“I haven’t said that I like someone yet.”
“Ah, I see. So you don’t have anyone you like.”
“I didn’t say that either.”
“Why are you getting upset?”
“I’m not getting upset.”
What should I do? I can’t see Haru-kun’s expression.
But I shouldn’t run away now. This opportunity might never come again.
“Well, I do have someone I like, you know?”
I said so, trying to keep calm.
“Ah, really? What kind of person is he?”
Haru-kun’s calmness is annoying.
“A person who says he likes me.”
“…I see.”
Alright, Haru-kun’s expression stiffened a little as he replied so.
“……”
“……”
After that, both of us fall silent.
As we’re getting closer to school, the surroundings get noisier.
If we want to talk here, we would need to raise our voices to be heard.
But right now, it feels like we can even hear each other’s heartbeat.
My mind goes blank.
I can’t think of anything.
“Well then, see you later.”
“…eh? Ah, yeah. See you later.”
Before I knew it, we already arrive at our classroom.
Our seats are far apart, so both of us part ways to go to each other’s seat.
…I can’t remember anything about what happened on the way here.
What should I do? What if Haru-kun had said something during that time and I didn’t hear it.
“Arerere~ What happened, Yua? Your face is bright red.”
A friend of mine said so.
I quickly slap my cheeks.
“What are you talking about? I’m not red at all.”
“Is that so~”
After that, my friends tease me a lot about it.
Every time they point out the change in my facial expression, I become more conscious of it.
Haru-kun—
This is going to be a mess lol
