Ao-kun, I want to do it one more time.

Waiting for Kouta’s return, Mizuki lightly nudged my arm.

“Hm?”

“Um, could you help me apply sunscreen on my back?”

“Yeah, sure… Wait, me?”

“Yes… My arms can’t reach my back properly.”

“Isn’t Kana coming soon? Maybe you could ask her?”

Touching Mizuki’s skin felt like a reward, but I hesitated.

“I’d prefer if you did it.”

Her pleading eyes left me unable to refuse. I took the sunscreen from her and squeezed some into my hand.

“Alright, I’ll.”

“Yes, please.”

What a cute way to ask. I gently touched her back to avoid startling her, but…

“Eek!”

“Mizuki-san!?, that’s… I might get the wrong idea.”

“Sorry… It’s just cold… I’ll try to endure it.”

She covered her mouth with her hand but quickly stopped, worried she might suffocate.

“Well, pull yourself together.”

I signaled to continue before Kouta and the others returned. As I applied the sunscreen…

“I’ll try to hold back my voice, so please, go ahead…”

As I resumed applying sunscreen,

“Mmnn…”

“It’s starting to feel weird.”

“Well then, what should I do?”

I racked my brain, trying to figure out how to proceed, and somehow managed to finish applying the sunscreen before Kouta and the others returned.

“Hey, how’s my swimsuit, Ao?”

Kana showed me her swimsuit while we were sitting under the beach umbrella.

“Yeah, I think it’s cute.”

“Your reaction’s weak!”

“I’d feel some death glare if I praised here.”

I glanced at Mizuki to see her tilting her head slightly.

“Kana-san’s swimsuit is cute.”

“Yeah, I’m glad you think so, Mi-chan.”

Our reactions were supposed to be the same. So why such a big difference?

“Hey, you three over there, wanna play beach volleyball?”

Hasekura-san came over with a pumped-up beach ball.

“Sure, let’s play! What about you, Mi-chan?”

“I’d like to play too. What about you, Ao-kun?”

“I’m in.”

“Likewise for Rikuto and Kouta, so let’s split up.”

And as a result of that split, I ended up on the same team as Kana and Hasekura-san, while Mizuki was with Kouta and Rikuto.

“Ao, weren’t you on a different team than Mi-chan during the last basketball game… Lonely?”

Yeah, Mizuki and I never seem to end up on the same team. Why is that?

“I’m not lonely. More importantly, former volleyball ace, I’m counting on you this time.”

“Alright, leave it to me!”

“Kougami-kun, I want you to say things like that to me too!”

She seems to want to be relied upon. I thought about what to say next.

“Then, Hasekura-san, could you support Kana?”

“Yeah, I’ve got it!”

She’s smiling broadly. Now, that’s what I’d call a unified team spirit.

“Tsuyuzaki-san, you were pretty good at volleyball, right?”

“Well, I was okay. You and Tabe-kun were quite the stars in volleyball, though. Getting a lot of attention.”

“I didn’t think Tsuyuzaki-san had an aura that showed interest in guys. Right, Kouta?”

“Tsuyuzaki-san is just an ordinary girl, so it makes sense.”

“Huh, really…”

It was supposed to be a strategy meeting for volleyball, but the conversation had veered off course, and Mizuki nodded along.

After beach volleyball ended, Mizuki and I were enjoying the sea together.

“Ao-kun, do you know what couples do when they’re out like this?”

Mizuki asked as we waded into water just deep enough to not reach our knees.

“Have as much fun as possible?”

“Well, yes, but that’s not quite it.”

Mizuki bent down, scooped up some water with her hands, and then splashed it on me.

“Ah, I see. It’s a water fight. Got it.”

Thinking it customary to retaliate when splashed, I returned the favor.

To anyone watching, we probably looked like a silly couple, with comments like “Oh, stop it!” or “That’s enough!” floating around us.

“After playing beach volleyball and splashing around in the water, I’m pretty tired,”

After our water play, we sat down on the sand, and I stared blankly out at the sea. Occasionally, the waves washed over my feet.

“Being tired just means we had a lot of fun,”

Mizuki said happily, leaning against my shoulder.

“Ao-kun,”

As we looked at each other, I felt a strange sensation, and I gently pressed my lips against hers.

Then, as we parted, Mizuki opened her eyes and happily touched her lips with her right hand.

“It was an unforgettable first kiss,”

“Same here. Next time, I’ll be waiting for a kiss from you,”

I said, and Mizuki blushed deeply and nodded quietly.

“Um, can I be a little selfish?”

“Selfish? You  selfishness hardly ever feels selfish to me. But I’m all ears for this selfishness of yours,”

Mizuki’s selfishness is almost always a reward for me.

She looked a little embarrassed as she touched her hair and asked with upturned eyes.

“Ao-kun, I want to do it one more time.”

TL: yep… I havent kissed anyone…
