- The Puppet Protagonist: Adriel's Life is Controlled by Everyone Around Him
- Chap 47 - Veiled Threats
Elizabeth, at the age of 12, stepped into the realm of the Attribute Control Bureau (ATB). Her motive was simple, driven by her love for Adriel, whose allure was only heightened by his cursed nature.
Adriel had become the center of attention, and his reputation as a Casanova was rapidly growing. Fearing that he would succumb to a life of frivolous relationships, Elizabeth joined the ATB to keep a watchful eye on him.
Within the confines of the ATB, Elizabeth encountered Alexia, a girl blessed with monstrous physical strength. Their connection teetered on the edge of friendship, as Elizabeth held no trust or interest in anyone other than Adriel. For Elizabeth, the status of “almost friend” was the highest accolade one could achieve.
However, this fragile bond didn’t last long. Once Anomaly 0 assisted Elizabeth in alleviating Adriel’s curse, she swiftly severed ties with the ATB, avoiding its clutches.
Yet now, in the face of an emergency involving Adriel, Elizabeth finds herself reluctantly returning to the ATB’s realm.
“Ah, look who decided to show up, the great Elizabeth.” Alexia greeted Elizabeth with a sly grin as she made her entrance.
Elizabeth responded with a sarcastic smirk. “Oh, Alexia, always lurking around. Where’s your precious Makoto, huh?”
From the moment Elizabeth met Alexia, it was clear that her affections were solely directed towards Makoto. She would go to great lengths to secure his loyalty, whether through physical, financial, or emotional means.
It was a stark contrast to Elizabeth’s own desires for Adriel. She longed to bind him to her in every way possible, but the presence of Seda and Adriel’s mother hindered her plans.
“He’s on a mission,” Alexia replied, her voice tinged with a mix of concern and possessiveness.
Elizabeth couldn’t help but smirk mischievously. “Ah, so he’s finally away from your clutches, huh? How unusual.”
Alexia’s eyes narrowed, her expression turning cold. “Elizabeth, this is no time for games. Something serious is happening.”
Elizabeth, although tempted to continue teasing, sensed the seriousness in Alexia’s voice. She decided to put aside her playful demeanor for a moment.
“We have a code red, something that could bring everything crashing down.” Alexia spoke with urgency, her voice laced with a sense of impending doom.
Elizabeth’s eyes widened, her heart pounding in her chest. Code Red was the highest level of danger within the Attribute Control Bureau, and the fact that it involved Adriel, her beloved, sent a chill down her spine.
“What happened?” Elizabeth’s voice trembled, her concern evident.
Alexia took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. “A breach suddenly appeared a week ago, and it’s targeting Adriel. We don’t know what or who came through, but they have their sights set on him.”
The color drained from Elizabeth’s face as fear gripped her. “What?” Her voice quivered with a mixture of disbelief and worry.
“Yes, it’s true. Adriel is the primary target, and we have limited information about the situation,” Alexia explained, her voice filled with a sense of urgency.
“What more do you know about this anomaly?” Elizabeth’s voice quivered with a mix of fear and concern, her mind racing with thoughts of Adriel’s safety.
Alexia’s expression grew solemn. “She’s specifically targeting Adriel, and we have no knowledge of her true capabilities.”
Elizabeth’s grip tightened, her knuckles turning white as worry consumed her. Every fiber of her being longed to protect Adriel from any harm that might befall him.
“Where should we begin?” Elizabeth’s voice trembled, her determination shining through despite her anxiety.
“The town where the attacks started is just 1 kilometer away from here,” Alexia informed her, her gaze fixed on Elizabeth. “And, Elizabeth, I didn’t want to reveal too much, but we had to seek Seda’s assistance.”

Seda returned to her house under the cover of night, exhaustion evident on her face. She had just completed a grueling mission to assist her sister in finding her beloved Makoto. As she entered her room, her eyes fell upon a cherished photograph of Adriel, the one person who held her heart captive.
“Ah, my love, we are finally reunited,” Seda whispered softly to the image, a tender smile gracing her lips. The thought of Adriel’s presence brought solace and warmth to her weary soul.
However, her moment of tranquility was abruptly interrupted by a piercing ringtone. Seda’s heart skipped a beat as she reached for her phone; her breath caught in anticipation. The caller ID displayed the emblem of the Attribute Control Bureau, causing a surge of concern to course through her veins.
With trembling hands, she answered the call, her voice betraying a mix of anxiety and devotion. “This is Seda. What news do you have regarding Adriel? Is he in danger?”
