- Chap 36 - The Immersive Forest: A Journey to the Demon King of the North
As I sit in my carriage, I can feel my nerves getting the best of me. I’m on my way to meet the demon king of the north, and he’s requested an urgent meeting. I have no choice but to go straight to him.
The demon king of the north is the youngest among us, and unlike the rest of us, who are immortal, he has a single weakness that can kill him. It’s like the story of Achilles and his heel. His weakness is the Mitryl metal, and despite its rarity, it can be used to end his life. This made him a prime target for the demon king of the west, who constantly bullied him. It’s more like an older brother bullying a younger brother, but that didn’t make it any less hurtful. The demon of the north was furious, and he’s been looking for a way to end his weakness ever since.
As for me and the demon king of the west, our only weakness is through sealing. That means the only way to defeat us is by finding the heroes, Emma and Elora. They’re the only ones who can seal us away and bring peace to the land.
I couldn’t help but marvel at the stunning scenery that surrounded me. In this game, the distance between my castle and his was vast, so I had plenty of time to soak in the breathtaking sights that had been meticulously crafted by the game developers.
The wind was so realistic that I could feel it tousling my hair and brushing against my skin. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, allowing myself to be completely immersed in the game’s world. The scent of the grass and trees was so surreal that it almost felt like I was there in person, experiencing it all firsthand.
Every little detail was simply amazing. From the way the sunlight danced through the leaves to the way the shadows fell across the path, it was all so incredibly realistic. I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the game designers who had put so much time and effort into creating such a beautiful virtual world.
My carriage passed through a lush forest, where green leaves glimmered with dew under the sun’s rays. Towering trees cast long shadows as the wind rustled through the leaves, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of wildflowers. The ground was soft and springy, with a carpet of grass and moss.
Deeper into the woods, the scenery grew even more spectacular, with golden light piercing through the leaves to create a dappled effect on the forest floor. The trees became thicker and closer together, forming a natural tunnel. The sound of horses’ hooves crunching leaves and twigs echoed gently through the woods.
Occasionally, breaks in the trees revealed stunning views of the surrounding countryside, including rolling hills, shimmering lakes, and snow-capped mountains stretching out as far as the eye could see. Despite being on a mission to meet the demon king of the north, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the incredible virtual world and the designers who had crafted it so meticulously. As I gazed out at the breathtaking scenery, I felt a sense of awe and wonder that left me speechless.
I couldn’t help but smile as I played the game, marveling at the stunning graphics and intricate details. It was like I had been transported to a whole new world.
Suddenly, Elizu broke the silence with her question.
“Master, what do you think the demon king of the north wants with you?”
I looked over at Azazel, who replied with a smirk.
“Well, he probably wants our master’s protection.”
Elizu nodded in agreement.
“That makes sense.”
She paused for a moment, lost in thought.
“He’s like a little brother to me,” I explained. “If he needs protection or any kind of help, it’s my duty to give it to him.”
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as I thought about the demon king of the West.
“He’s like a troublesome younger brother,” I said with a sigh. “I’m probably too scared to ask him for help, thanks to all the bullying he’s been getting.”
As we rode deeper into the forest, Elizu couldn’t resist taking a jab at the demon king of the north. “Master, do you think he’s afraid of heroes?” she taunted, clearly relishing in the opportunity to mock him.
I rolled my eyes. Among our group of demon kings and subordinates, there was always a bit of a rivalry to see who was the strongest. But I knew better than to fall into that trap. “Not likely,” I replied diplomatically, not wanting to hurt my little brother’s pride. “Perhaps he wants our help to assemble an army and eliminate any weaknesses before the heroes catch wind of his plans.”
It was a tricky situation. The demon kings and our subordinates were the only ones who knew how to kill him, but that information was not something we wanted to be widely known. Leaks and spies were always a concern, and it was crucial to keep our secrets safe.
Azazel, who had been riding in silence, spoke up. “Whatever the reason, we have to be prepared for anything. We don’t know what kind of situation we’ll be walking into.”
I nodded in agreement. “Exactly. “We have to be on our guard.”
We journeyed along the forest path, the thick foliage began to dissipate, revealing a vast clearing ahead. At the clearing’s center loomed the grand castle of the demon king of the north, an immense edifice crafted from black stone and adorned with grotesque depictions of demons and monsters. A moat of molten lava encircled the castle, and a drawbridge of thick iron chains spanned its fiery depths.
The castle’s walls bristled with archers, and a battalion of soldiers stood sentry at the entrance. As our carriage drew near, the gates groaned open, allowing us to enter and proceed within.
