The Priest of Complete Dispel ~ Every Time I Save a Cursed Beautiful Girl with My Status Abnormal Cure Skill, For Some Reason Her Dependence on Me Maxes Out ~ - Chapter 35: Guildmaster
Chapter 35: Guildmaster
After Shu left the Adventurer’s Guild, Glen and the rest of the Silver Blade party followed the receptionist, Lina, upstairs to visit the Guildmaster’s office.
When they knocked and opened the door—
“Whoa! Glen! You guys are alive! Thank goodness… I thought my heart was gonna stop!”
“Haha, we managed to make it back somehow. Seems like we caused quite a bit of worry,” Glen said with a laugh, as his shoulders were slapped heartily by Berg Steak, the man who had led the Adventurer’s Guild for ten years.
Though shorter than Garo, Berg was a head taller than Glen, with a rock-solid, muscular build. What stood out most, however, was his completely bald, gleaming scalp—not a single hair in sight.
In his forties, with the commanding presence of a former adventurer, he was truly a figure worthy of being called Guildmaster.
“I heard from Lina. It was supposed to be a simple goblin extermination, but it sounds like you got caught up in something far from ordinary.”
“I’ve got a detailed report about that. Can you spare some time?”
“Of course. Lina, get us some tea.”
“Yes, right away.”
With that, Glen and his four companions settled onto the office’s sofa, facing Berg.
“First, take a look at this.”
Glen placed a leather pouch on the table, and out rolled an enormous green magic stone, so large it could barely be held with both hands.
“What the hell is this ridiculous size!?”
“It came from a female Goblin King—a Goblin Queen.”
“…What!? A Goblin Queen!? I’ve never even heard of such a thing!”
Berg’s shout echoed through the office.
“That’s not all. There were Hobs, Mages, and even a General. We brought back as many magic stones as we could.”
“I can’t even wrap my head around this. A single General can wipe out an entire party… and you four took them on? How the hell did you make it back alive…? Wait. You said you collected magic stones?”
His shock was understandable. It should have been impossible. But they had someone with them who defied common sense.
“Yeah. We took down over fifty goblins. But it wasn’t me. The one who did it all was… my savior, and a Priest, Shu.”
“A Priest… you say?”
The moment he heard the word, Berg’s fist clenched tightly, veins bulging on his arm. He was famously anti-church. Just hearing the word “Priest” provoked such an obvious reaction.
“But don’t worry. He’s not with the church. Apparently, he’s from Magou Forest.”
“Magou Forest…? I’ve heard there’s a village there, but I thought it was just a fairy tale…”
“It’s real, Guildmaster. Shu didn’t know a thing about the outside world. And despite calling himself a Priest, his weapon is a sword. He’s full of contradictions,” Risia added, causing Berg to press a hand to his forehead.
“This is getting crazier by the second. The more I hear, the more my head feels like it’s gonna explode.”
“That’s not all. For some reason, a Saint Candidate was with us too.”
“A Saint Candidate…?”
“But don’t worry. Shu hasn’t been tainted by the church yet.”
“…So, if we want to recruit him as an adventurer, now’s the time.”
“Exactly. He’s already shown interest in becoming one.”
To Berg, who despised the church, anyone affiliated with it was an object of contempt. But Shu was still unaligned, and if Glen’s group vouched for his strength, Berg wanted to bring him into the fold.
“And… Shu can break curses.”
“…What did you say?”
Berg’s voice dropped low.
“It might sound like a joke, but it’s true. He apparently broke a curse on the Saint Candidate. And he also dispelled curses on women who were captured by the goblins.”
“He did something even a Saint couldn’t…?”
“From what we saw, he has at least two skills. One completely heals curses and status ailments. The other… we didn’t get the details, but it’s something that can knock out an opponent with just a glance.”
“…That’s insane… But he used that power on the goblins?”
“Yeah. Our job was just to finish off the goblins he’d already immobilized.”
Even now, it was hard to believe. But in reality, Glen and his party had survived against over fifty goblins.
“And now, here’s the real issue.”
“There’s more…?”
Glen continued with a serious expression.
“Do you know about Archbishop Bulldog?”
“Yeah, that slimy bastard. I heard he’s in town.”
“He’s been running a sex business underground, using kidnapped women to breed goblins.”
“What…!?”
Lina, standing in the back, covered her mouth, trembling.
Berg slammed the table with a loud thud, veins bulging even on his shiny bald head.
“That bastard…!”
“Here’s the magical tool they were using.”
Medina placed a black orb on the table.
“Hard to believe, but it’s supposedly capable of controlling even a Goblin Queen.”
“That’s ridiculous… But for Bulldog to have access to something like that…”
“According to the Saint Candidate, the Empire’s spies and demons are involved.”
“What… the Empire and demons!?”
Berg’s face paled. The information was clearly overwhelming him, his temples practically steaming with tension.
“So, you’re saying there’s a demon hiding in this city…?”
“That’s highly likely. It’s too big for us to handle alone.”
Glen clenched his fist, getting to the main point.
“Shu and the others want to capture Bulldog. I owe him my life, so I want to help. But the request came through the Guild, and we might already be targeted for crushing their operation.”
“So, you’re asking for my help too.”
“That’s right. Can you lend us a hand?”
Berg quickly grasped what Glen was getting at. A grin tugged at the corner of his mouth.
“If we can crush that scum, I’ll gladly help. But… first, bring Shu here in person. We’ll talk after that.”
“What about the Saint Candidate?”
“Bring her along too.”
“Got it. We’ll let them rest today and bring them tomorrow.”
With that, the discussion concluded, and Glen’s group left the office.
In the now-quiet room, Berg scratched his head and muttered to himself.
“Demons, huh… That’s no laughing matter. The Guild alone can’t handle this. …Tch, looks like I’ll have to contact that guy.”
He thought of a certain person’s name and let out a deep sigh.
