- Chapter 54- I screwed it up...
Ryuuji was on the verge of such distress that rather than a single person around him, he could see nothing at the moment. He just couldn’t focus on anything other than the girl walking with big strides away from him.
For the initial movements he just dumbly followed her while calling her name without anything proper in mind to say. The reason was simple.
There was no valid answer to define why and how he ended up in that situation with Sakura. Whatever he would say, Mika would take it otherwise and he couldn’t blame her for it.
He was no child nor was he forced to be with Sakura, just he never thought she would abruptly kiss him without his consent or warning and the shittiest luck he has would make Mika appear right at the moment.
He was indeed quite distressed by this whole development.
But right now, Ryuuji knew he had to man up and apologize to Mika and make her understand his circumstances, and clear out the misunderstanding.
“Listen to me Mika, please!”
He fastened his pace and continued to call her in a pleading voice yet to no avail. She was paying no heed to his calls and continued to walk wordlessly.
Lost for options, Ryuuji walked ahead and took a hold of her wrist which naturally brought a hold to her movement but little did he expect what would follow by his sudden action.
**Slap**
Ryuuji’s eyes went wide as he felt a slight burning sensation on his left cheek and his face turned to the right with the force he felt from the slap.
He was numb for a moment while registering what transpired when suddenly Mika shook off her hand from his grasp as her words followed behind.
“How dare you touch me?! Who permitted you to impose yourself on me however you like?!”
Ryuuji stiffly turned his head to look at her with his gaze still stretched in shock before his body went stiff. Her eyes…he knew that look. He was greeted with that gaze for a long time in the past Ryuuji could remember.
The time when Mika had no soft side for Ryuuji and the only feeling she harbored for him was: detest. The time which he could never forget…he was facing that Mika at the moment.
“I should’ve never formed any relations with you Takuya Ryuuji! It was better the way things have processed that night. I should’ve never come closer to you and fallen for you! Your relationship with me is nothing but a mistake, you hear that?!”
Her voice was nearing to be a shout at the silent and isolated shore as Mika voiced as hateful thoughts she could muster in a fit of anger.
Ryuuji was no longer moving from his spot and he heard and registered each of her words which made his heart weighed with nothing but pain.
He knew she was angry…but this…
For a long moment, no one spoke before Mika felt her eyes damping a bit which she forbid herself to show to the man in front.
Turning on her toes she spoke her fading words before she walked away.
“Don’t ever approach me, Ryuuji.”
She walked away, without any thought of turning back or even taking a glance at Ryuuji who was standing still at his place like his world had met its end in front of his eyes yet he was unable to utter a single word about it.
Her words…despite being said in anger were true in a way. The way things have processed that night, Ryuuji would have never approached Mika in the first place. If not for her coming to his apartment and knowing his past, nothing this much would have been happening. Mika wouldn’t have to get hurt like this.
Was he trying to seek pity from her by telling his story? Now Ryuuji thinks about it, it does seem he was just finding an excuse to be with her. His desperation which he shrouded in the name of love was nothing but a child’s prayer of desiring warmth.
In reality, he never deserved Mika and her leaving him like this, seemed nothing out of place. She was never meant to be with him and the way he has hurt her today made him regret his decision to ever let himself be with her despite Mika’s hatred for him most of the time in the past.
Without him realizing Ryuuji stood at his spot for more than twenty minutes, thinking and repeating the words he have heard from Mika.
It was not for the vibration he felt from his pocket, Ryuuji might not have reacted or moved for a longer period.
Taking out his phone he saw Kazuya’s name which was not surprising given how Mika should’ve returned. Strange was, how many calls Kazuya have already done before Ryuuji realized.
“He-”
Ryuuji was about to say when Kazuya interjected in a hurried tone.
“Where are you?! Hurry and return, right now! Mika-san is…you just return!”
*TU*TU*TU*
Ryuuji’s heart sank as he sensed the urgency in Kazuya’s voice and the name attached to his words made his concern rise high enough for him to be on run without even realizing it.
It took Ryuuji just two minutes to reach the still-lighted beach house as he climbed in a rush and saw Aya and Kazuya talking about something near the entrance.
“Where the fu*k were you, assh*le? What have you done to Mi-chan?!”
Aya flared without mercy, ready to bite any moment, but Ryuuji didn’t reply and walked into the house to quench his stress as soon as possible.
Walking around the ground floor he didn’t find anyone. Neither the older woman nor Mika but before Ryuuji could have climbed the stairs to search for Mika, Kazuya’s voice caught up his haste.
“She left, Ryuu.”
Like cold water falling over his head in the middle of a cold night, Ryuuji felt stiff at his place as he heard something which shouldn’t have been possible given the place and time.
But Aya’s following word just printed a sealing of truth on his worries.
“She was leaving the house on her own without hearing anything from anyone. Seeing her state and her reluctance to be here, Yukino(aunt) had no option but to give her a ride back home. But can you tell me what the heck cornered her to take such a decision all of a sudden?!”
Ryuuji was no longer listening to what Aya said after he heard about Mika’s departure.
He slowly turned himself and landed his butt on the stair before muttering under his breath.
“I screwed it all…”
