- Chapter 45- Adorable anger~
For long ten seconds, Mika wasn’t able to say a single thing as the chattering from the background again became louder because of the silence.
Naomi’s previous statement undoubtedly exposed something about Ryuuji that Mika was unaware of.
The fact that Naomi said Ryuuji has great taste in women as ever, implied a very clear fact.
“You mean, Ryuuji was interested in someone back in Middle-school?”
Naomi, who previously failed to land on Mika’s interest and was getting treated coldly by the raven-haired beauty, smiled in success.
Leaning on the table with a pretended surprised expression, Naomi blinked as she spoke in a surprised tone.
“He didn’t tell you? Are you sure he never brought up the name of his first crush?”
Mika’s eyes widened in utter shock upon hearing the word ‘crush’ attached to Ryuuji. It was true that she seldom paid attention to his talks in the past but not like she would have missed something so important either.
She never heard him talking about his past or any friend whom he was in touch with. Just the funky boy in the class and Aya were his friends apart from Mika.
If he really had a crush on someone then Ryuuji must have told Aya or Kazuya about it. And being friends they must have causally teased Ryuuji for it. But Mika never heard anything from them either.
The realization created doubts for Mika.
“You think I will believe that?”(Mika)
“Then can you tell me what’s this?” (Naomi)
Naomi expected something like this. That’s why she already tapped on the gallery of her phone and slid down to bring the perfect image, befitting the situation.
Mika looked at the picture closely where a tall boy wearing a school uniform had a red marker sign on his shirt and a heart drawn around it.
The boy undoubtedly was Ryuuji who was laughing merrily with his friend and from the angle of the picture it was evident that it was taken candidly.
With her gaze narrowed, Mika read the name before Naomi pulled the phone back.
Mika felt speechless but not the other party.
“He was very much invested in the girl and we all thought they would end up together and might go to the same school. Why Ryuuji never confessed or asked about her afterward is still unclear tho… ”
**CLING**
Wordlessly, Mika pulled her bag and got out of her seat before Naomi could have continued.
Naomi was startled since she was just teasing Mika and trying to push the girl toward Ryuuji through the jealousy path. But it seemed, she went slightly overboard.
Naomi also stood at her place with a worried expression when suddenly Ryuuji arrived.
______________
Mika left the restaurant on impulse. She couldn’t even remember when was the last time she got this worked up.
Her eyes were a little teary as she walked in the direction of her house at a higher pace than usual. Agitation works best as fuel.
The heat of the blazing sun or the gazes from the surrounding doesn’t matter anymore. Mika was no longer conscious of anything else.
Her mind was full of a single thought.
That picture.
Even Mika wasn’t sure why she was enraged about it in the first place.
Was it because Ryuuji never told her about his first crush even though they grew so close over the past few days? Or was it the discovery that Mika wasn’t his first love?
Might it sound a little arrogant but Mika had some kind of pride built in her after Ryuuji said that she was the first ever person he came to love.
He could have told her the truth. She never expected him to be her first love just like Ryuuji was to her. But Ryuuji chose to lie.
He lied to her.
“!!!”
Mika didn’t know where she was walking anymore due to the chaos of her weighing thoughts but the hold on her wrist pushed her out of her daze.
Looking to her left she found the person who was making such a mess out of her head standing there with a vivid worried expression written over his face.
“Why did you follow me?! You should’ve enjoyed your meal with your dear Na-o-mi-san.”
Ryuuji felt like sighing upon witnessing such adorable anger from Mika who clearly was pissed about the picture which Naomi showed her.
Just as Mika left, Ryuuji arrived at the table soon after. He saw Mika leaving the place but he had to know why she got so worked up so he could coax Mika properly.
He asked Naomi the reason which the latter immediately showed before Ryuuji also left the place. Leaving Naomi all along with the three sets of ramen.
Ryuuji felt a tinge of pain inside upon seeing the moisture in her eyes which signified how hurt she was.
In a way, Ryuuji was slightly elated since it shows that Mika cares about Ryuuji’s past and was more or less jealous right now because of that picture.
But undoubtedly he couldn’t show his happiness upfront.
“Nothing is more important than you, Mika-san. Now come with me.”
There were quite a few passers-by whose center of attraction landed on these two youngsters who clearly were having a sweet quarrel. Ryuuji didn’t like being watched and to explain things to Mika, he needed a more peaceful surrounding.
“Why should I?”
Mika pouted and turned her head in disagreement. She does want to hear him out but she was too infuriated at him to follow him now wordlessly.
She wants him to know how mad she was!
“When I got upset because of your friend then you explained things to me, right? Now it’s my turn to explain things. Won’t you give me some of your time, Miku?”
**Ba*dum**
The way he called her after so long a time was enough reason for her to nod her head. She knew it was a foul play of his, but such innocent pleading is just…
‘Baka…always playing with my emotions… ‘
With those thoughts, both of them started walking back to Ryuuji’s apartment.
That afternoon, they ate nothing. But not like it was a fruitless trip…. at least for Mika.
