- The person who used to hate me, suddenly turned into a yandere!
- Chapter 37- Please leave Mika in my care!
Around seven in the evening, the three joined the dining table for dinner.
Mika and Ryuuji mostly chatted rather than studying which resulted in almost nothing written for the holiday assignment.
Well, they had a month to finish it and neither of them is irresponsible to neglect their homework.
It’s been a while since these three were gathered at this dining table. The last time Ryuuji remembered was a big event for him.
Mika also seemed to be thinking the same thing, as she held Ryuuji’s hand under the table with an apology written on her face.
Ryuuji sighed before he held her hand back in reassurance as he smiled in understanding.
“Ara~ Is it romance, I am sensing in the air~.”
As the older one put the bowls on the dining table she muttered in a mischievous tone while taking glances at the two cozy youngsters.
Mika and Ryuuji simultaneously let go of each other as they plopped their hands on the table and gaze entirely straight.
The redness their cheeks adapted was enough to fill her sugar dose for today as Aoki brought the last dish and also took the seat opposite the two.
She couldn’t be more elated than to see her children reconciling and growing fondly together toward each other.
Today’s dinner was Yakimeshi with shrimp. Soup and other side dishes were also served which both Ryuuji and Mika have a great liking for.
Spoons and chopsticks soon started making very low clattering as the three began eating the delicious food.
“It’s great, Aoki-san.”
“Yeah, mom. Maybe it’s because I was hungry but today I feel it’s something extra than the regular ones.”
Mika and Ryuuji expressed their genuine compliment since the fried rice was enough to extend their appetite and make them swoon.
“Thank you. And, eat to your heart’s desire. I have made a lot today.”
The atmosphere at the table was harmonious unlike in the past when Mika doesn’t really seem talkative during dinner.
Ryuuji was aware that she doesn’t like his presence much or his meddling in her time with her mother.
Despite not showing, Ryuuji was slightly surprised to see how she had changed over so little time.
If before she tried to be secluded and hide her feelings, then now she was expressing her thoughts with each bite.
He doesn’t know how he should be feeling about this change of hers but it wasn’t bad in any way. Rather, seeing her so lively made him less guilty to redo the same thing he vowed to avoid.
The dinner went merrily as they ate more than usual and after helping the landlady with the dishes, Ryuuji was guided by Mika to the living area.
Aoki took some time to arrange things as the two teenagers talked about the upcoming trip and what they would be doing.
After some minutes, the older woman finally arrived, as she sat on a comfortable bean bag with a teacup in her hand.
Ryuuji also focused on the front since he knew Aoki had something important to talk about which she primarily called him.
“So how are you guys planning to travel?”
Ryuuji already had asked for everything from Kazuya and also planned most of the things which the latter forgot.
“It will take four hours by train to reach Shinojima Beach.”
“Shinojima hmm… ”
The beach Ryuuji mentioned wasn’t far by road but since there weren’t any means, their last resort remained on tracks.
Kazuya suggested to bring his family’s car but Aya shot him down since she likes to travel in trains more and also no one in the group has a license yet.
“I did talk to your friend’s aunt who runs a beach house there. Seriously, she is so friendly that I might be going with my sister after her delivery.”
Ryuuji smiled as he was familiar with Kazuya’s aunt, since he once went with Kazuya to the beach to deliver something urgent.
And also, she often visit Kazuya on weekends and came across Ryuuji when he went to play games or sort.
After a small pause, Akio finally spoke the thing which was worrying her since she heard of this trip.
“You see, Ryuu-kun. Mika has never gone anywhere without me and her father. I am happy that my daughter is taking a step toward a necessary change but I still can’t let go of my worries.”
Ryuuji nodded and stayed silent since he knew what Akio might be feeling to let Mika go with a bunch of irresponsible teenagers.
Mika was silently sitting at the corner of the couch while listening to the conversation of the two adults without daring to interfere as she heard her mother continuing.
“I do know Aya-chan and have met Kazuya-kun once during the Parents’ meeting but the only person I could trust Mika on is you Ryuu-kun.”
It was a big thing that despite being an orphan Mika’s mother found Ryuuji reliable enough to delegate the responsibility to her daughter.
Ryuuji was overwhelmed by the trust, Akio had in him.
Not so long after he spoke without any hesitation with his voice filled with utmost sincerity.
“Please leave Mika in my care.”
