“A trip to the beach?”

It was the lunch break at the Minagawa High School when the group of four gathered to share lunch and chat about the upcoming vacation.

It was Kazuya who proposed the idea of the trip after he got to know that neither Aya nor Mika and Ryuuji had anything specific planned for summer other than Aya’s uncertain trip to her grandparents’.

Hearing his remark, complicated expressions spread on the others’ faces as Ryuuji was the one who voiced his thoughts first.

“No, man. I have plans to dwell in books like never before and study up to the final syllabus.”

Ryuuji had never had many fun vacations before, but still, he used to go places like pools, water parks, and such. But this summer, he has a full-fledged plan to cover up everything he lacks and do his best for the exams.

“It’s just a two days trip, my brother. And the vacation lasts for thirty days. You can study in those remaining times. I swear not to disturb you after the trip.”

Since Kazuya’s aunt runs a beach house, Kazuya proposed the idea of staying over for one night so they could at least enjoy themselves without hurrying to leave early.

The thought was tempting, but still, Ryuuji was reluctant since he didn’t have enough savings either. But before he could have rejected it again, a telepathic signal traveled from his friend.

‘Brother. Help me. This might be the chance I need. ‘

With his brows wrinkled in the plea, Kazuya communicated with his eyes and confessed his true motive for this trip.

Ryuuji turned his gaze toward Aya, who was utterly oblivious to Kazuya’s effort as she ate her lunch with Mika merrily while listening to their banter.

Ryuuji cursed the lover boy hefty before he heaved a heavy sigh and finally gave in.

“Okay, if it’s like that. I will go, but don’t dare to distract me after we return or ….”

“Yes, yes. I promise.”

Kazuya fake wept in elation before he turned his gaze toward Mika, who seemed to be a little taken aback with Ryuuji’s sudden change of decision.

“Well. If Ryuu-kun is going, I will easily get permission from my mother, so yeah. I am on it too.”

Aya and Kazuya’s expressions shifted to a baffled one as they glanced at Ryuuji before turning toward Mika again.

“What’s this vibe?”

“Things have escalated rather quickly.”

Both Aya and Kazuya commented on the complicated relationship between their two friends, which has gotten weirder day after day.

Mika blinked, her neck tilted in perplexity since she was entirely oblivious to why they said so. On the other hand, Ryuuji facepalmed and made a mental note to talk some of the things out with Mika afterward.

“And A-Ayama-san, you?”

Aya wanted to cringe since she wasn’t used to being called such formally by her friends, yet Kazuya always seemed to create a wall between them.

Holding back her urge to remind him the same thing who knows how many times, she spoke in a cheery tone.

“Of course, I am going.”

“Oh, that’s why Ryuu-kun suddenly said he’s going on the trip… ”

After school, both Mika and Ryuuji were naturally returning together when she asked him about why he switched so suddenly.

Mika was somehow aware of Kazuya’s liking for Aya but hearing it from Ryuuji made it clear.

“Ah, yes. Ryuu-kun, mom is not home today too.”

Suddenly Ryuuji’s feet halted as the train of last night’s memories flashed through his eyes instantly.

For some steps, Mika didn’t notice him getting stunned. Only after she felt that there wasn’t any presence beside her she turned her head to see that Ryuuji was standing at his place with his expression getting tensed

She instantly walked back to him and cleared the misunderstanding.

“She will definitely return today. You see, my aunt is in the seventh month of pregnancy, so my mom often visits her. So I was thinking, would it be fine if we buy groceries, and I make something delicious at your place today?”

Mika hurriedly explained to him as she heard him exhaling audibly. She realized how worked up he had become after what happened yesterday.

Maybe she is a strange one to be still the same as ever, even though she received the first kiss of her life.

Ryuuji nodded as he continued walking along with Mika.

“Will it be okay to go to the store near the station? It will have all the ingredients I need.”

The store Mika mentioned was rather far, but she required everything for the special dish she had learned from her mother not so long ago.

On the other hand, Ryuuji was a little surprised to see such an obedient and mannered Mika who, unlike before, cared for his opinions.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

Affirming, both of them strolled away from their home to the store. But little did they think who they might face in that place from the past of Mika…

A/N: – Next chapter would be a little dramatic and steamy also. I want to remind you guys that, Ryuuji has been in love with Mika for a while, so him reacting to some certain events should be justified, right?
