- Chapter 13- Ryuu doesn\'t let me sleep~
The following day, Mika woke up in a little hurry since she knew she had messed up.
“Yabai!!!”
Screaming, she went inside the bathroom after glancing at her alarm clock, which in her imagination grinned and whispered, ‘Say goodbye to your Ryuu~.’
While she took a shower and changed into her uniform, she constantly cursed herself for being such a sleepy head and also blamed Ryuuji for keeping her awake late at night through his thoughts.
Strangely, she never thought of Ryuuji often when alone in the past. But now, she keeps thinking about every word they have exchanged and compares how he has changed because of her stupidity.
Even the little gestures, like how he helped her with fishbones with which she always had difficulty. She kept on remembering it until drowsiness didn’t sweep her consciousness away.
“Mika! You are getting late!”
“Eiiii!”
Again, Ryuuji threw her into a stupor when her mother shouted out from the other side of the door.
Arranging her hair, she picked up her bag before leaving the room and following her mother downstairs.
“Really, Mika? Your resolve cooled down within a day? What happened with the going to school with Ryuu-kun plans?”
Mika apologetically smiled before she walked to the kitchen and picked up her bento.
Unlike some seconds ago, she wasn’t rushed much since she knew Ryuuji undoubtedly had already reached school by now.
He never fails to wake early and come to fetch her too, but now he must have found it bothersome to wait for her. After all, what she has done is only causing him problems.
Aoki wanted to say something to lighten up her daughter’s mood, but the denseness of dark clouds over Mika’s head was beyond dispersable. In the end, she lightly tapped on her shoulder before seeing her off in a gentle voice.
“Have a safe trip.”
“I will be going…”
With a heavy mood, Mika closed the door on her back before walking out of the main entrance only to get shocked so early in the morning.
“Heh?”
Maybe it was her desperation, or she might be half asleep, but for some reason, she could see Ryuuji standing in front of her entrance at the same spot where he used to meet her in the morning.
“You forgot this last night.”
“Ah!”
With a low yelp, she immediately returned to reality as she saw Ryuuji extending a scrunchie toward her.
She took the hairband as she remembered that last night in Ryuuji’s house; she untied her hair when she was about to eat since it was relatively much cooler in the living room.
“T-Thanks…”
Mika was so surprised by his appearance unexpectedly that only a single syllable escaped her lips.
Ryuuji turned toward his left before he started walking forward wordlessly.
Mika’s blinked in perplexion before she also turned on her toes and followed by.
“You could have given it to me in school, too, no? You shouldn’t have waited for me~.”
Her tone betrayed her words as she chimed before crossing her arms on her back.
“I didn’t wait. I was crossing when I saw you leaving.”
Ryuuji spoke while trying to keep his gaze straight and avoid Mika’s adorable self, which he seldom has seen before.
Mika blinked as she asked in a slightly brighter tone.
“You were this late? Did you sleep late last night, just like me?”
It was incredibly rare to hear Ryuuji being late since he had always been a diligent child who got up early so he could wake Mika up without fail.
“I…was studying…”
Mika pouted slightly as, unlike her, who was only thinking about him, it seemed he had become totally casual about their relationship.
But little did she see how flustered he became while answering an entirely white lie. He did try to study but failed miserably due to the words Mika left with.
Voluntarily or not, he couldn’t get rid of Mika at all.
_._
On the main street, Ryuuji walked on the right today, which didn’t go unnoticed by Mika as she smiled warmly at such a considerate gesture.
Without many words exchanged other than the initial ones, both of them reached the school, which, unlike most days, was already crowded with students.
Fortunately, they weren’t late since their house wasn’t much far from school.
Mika was slightly nervous about facing her friend Aya today after what happened last day. Even though she doesn’t regret what she said, it still was shameless of Mika to say such a thing.
But Mika has determined herself that she would face whatever came, even if the person was someone close to her. She wouldn’t run away and face whatever came in her path to know her feelings for Ryuuji.
However, little did she assume that Ayama, would not even wait for a lunch break and drag her out of the class just after Mika stepped inside.
“You come with me. I have something to settle.”
