The Person Who Gave Me An Extraordinary Life Was You, A Beautiful Executive Secretary - Chapter 1
Episode 1: A Temporary Extraordinary
“Excuse me. Isn’t the seat cramped?”
As I uttered these words, she turned her beautiful eyes towards me, her lips loosening into a smile.
“It’s okay. This seat offers a good view, doesn’t it?”
She didn’t seem bothered, just a normal response.
I felt relieved after speaking with her.
“Oh, I see. Sorry, when I reserved the seat, all of this area was empty. I didn’t expect us to end up sitting next to each other.”
“Yeah, me neither. It’s funny how things turn out, isn’t it?”
She was beautiful. Even in the darkness, her black, large eyes sparkled against her snow-white skin.
With her straight nose and small red lips, she responded to my sudden approach with a gentle smile.
A bit childish, but charming.
“Um, if I’m bothering you, I can move to another seat?”
“Oh… It’s okay, I don’t mind…”
With her smile, I decided to enjoy the movie from my original seat.
Feeling the warmth from her nearby, I started to relax.
I thought being alone would be easier, but this… was unexpected.
The movie depicted the story of a man and a woman who were separated in childhood, reunited after a long time, and intertwined their feelings while traveling through Japan and abroad, weaving a romance. While there were comedic moments, the serious plot was depicted amidst beautiful scenes, making the audience feel like they were traveling the world themselves.
I remember feeling emotional during the scene where the two passed each other in a beautiful European castle, closing the distance between them with mutual understanding.
As I watched the scenes unfold on the silver screen, memories from the past resurfaced in my mind.
Nostalgic yet bittersweet, including memories I’d rather forget.
Eventually, the time passed, the credits rolled, and the lights in the theater came on.
Then I noticed something strange about the girl next to me.
—Is she crying?
She was using a white handkerchief to wipe away tears streaming down her face.
Was the movie that touching?
Or perhaps, like me, she was reminiscing about something from the past?
Normally, in this situation with a stranger, it’s normal to just leave quietly.
Interrupting might ruin the mood or worse, be perceived as having ulterior motives.
In any case, I’ve always been an introvert, both in my student days and now at work. Approaching her might just come off as creepy.
I experienced a brief moment of extraordinary.
That alone made coming here today worthwhile.
I got up without saying anything and took a few steps away from her.
“Uwaaa~~h!!”
A loud cry chased after me from behind.
It felt like I was being pulled back.
Turning around, I saw her bending over, her face towards the floor, shoulders shaking.
Well, I might as well play the creepy guy or annoying character.
After all, we’ll probably never meet again.
We should swallow our pride in desperate times… they say.
“Um, are you okay?”
Approaching her again, I spoke softly while lowering my posture.
Without lifting her face, she seemed to nod slightly.
“…I’m sorry… for this… sudden…”
“No, it’s just…”
Unable to find the next words, I simply looked at her.
Near the theater entrance, the staff were glancing in our direction from a distance.
They probably had cleanup and preparations for tomorrow after the last screening.
But forcibly dragging her out would be pitiful.
She was crying like a child.
I surrendered to the passing time in silence.
“Excuse me, it’s time for the screening to end.”
“Oh, sorry.”
As the staff member with cleaning tools spoke, I bowed my head.
“Um, shall we go?”
“…Yes.”
She gave a weak reply and slowly got up, pressing her eyes with the handkerchief.
Outside the theater, the place was sparsely populated.
We sat on a bench on the same floor, sitting close together.
Finally calming down, she still had teary eyes as she looked towards me.
“I’m sorry. Um… for causing trouble to a stranger like this…”
“No, it’s okay. I was just a little curious, that’s all.”
“I made you spend extra time because of me…”
“Nah, it’s fine. The movie was a bit longer than usual anyway. Plus, I’m just going home to take a bath and sleep. Don’t worry about it.”
“I’m really sorry…”
Apologetically, she bowed her head repeatedly, her black hair swaying.
“Please, don’t worry about it. Well, I should be going now.”
“Oh……”
As she seemed about to say something, I waved lightly before leaving the scene, leaving her alone on the bench.
This is fine.
Such as having a meal together, exchanging contact information—those are the plots of movies or novels.
Reality isn’t that sweet. I know that well enough.
There have been many small chances before.
Bumping into each other by chance, picking up something someone dropped, meeting in a bookstore…
None of them led to anything more, and sometimes I received strange looks like, “Who’s this guy?”
With expectations like that, the world beyond is far from the realm of introverted loners.
To protect the me within me, I eventually stopped thinking about the future.
As I sighed heavily, a gentle voice came from behind me.
“Um, excuse me…”
Was she calling me?
Turning my inconspicuous head back, I saw a woman with long hair standing right behind me.
Just a while ago, we spent a fleeting moment together in the movie theater—it was her.
