- The Person I Met On The Internet Turned Out to be a Super Popular Yandere Vtuber
- Chapter 7 - This is Her Home
“Finally, the day has come.”
Today is the day I will visit Yame-san’s place.
After finishing the procedures to leave the apartment following my hospital stay, I have come to this moment… I was so nervous about today that I couldn’t sleep at all last night, feeling sleep-deprived.
Looking in the mirror, I had terrible dark circles under my eyes… If Yame-san saw me like this, she might worry unnecessarily.
“It’s helpful that I don’t have much to bring.”
Most of my entertainment was on my laptop, so there are very few things I plan to take from this room.
Thinking about it, it seems like my past few years have been quite dull.
And the more I think about it, the scarier it gets to imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t met Gonzales-san… Yame-san.
“I have a room prepared for you, Tomokawa-san, and the furniture is mostly there. So if there’s anything missing, you can get it as needed.”
“Is it really okay to be so accommodating? I mean, Yame-san, you just moved in…”
“I just moved the things from the room I had prepared originally. Haha, I’m glad I had it ready for a long time♪”
“Sigh…”
I felt like Yame-san and I weren’t quite on the same page in our conversation… But regardless, when I heard that she had prepared a room for me, I was more touched and happy than confused… It was a feeling I couldn’t quite understand.
“Thank you for everything… You’ve taken care of me.”
Saying goodbye to the room I had been using for so long, I stepped outside.
The sunlight welcoming me outside… Although it should have been a scene no different from going to work, I felt like I had wings sprouting from my back, ready to fly anywhere.
“A sense of liberation… maybe.”
Feeling freed from the confines, I couldn’t help but relax my cheeks.
“…The relationship with the landlord and the neighbor was the worst.”
Glancing at the neighbor, I saw a pile of garbage bags in front of the door.
Well, there are all kinds of people in the world… The man living next to me was a nuisance, not paying rent and never taking out the trash.
The landlord was also troubled, and I had once warned him, but that led to me being greatly disliked, with verbal abuse and rude gestures whenever we crossed paths.
“Well, it didn’t matter to me, so I didn’t feel anything.”
As I stared like that, the door opened.
Clearly still half-asleep with messy hair and a cigarette in his mouth, he held a garbage bag… As usual, he was about to leave it at the entrance, but then our eyes met.
“Tch!”
“…”
He raised his middle finger as usual, but it seemed like he realized I was leaving, so he approached.
“Hey, leaving, huh, you nosy trash guy.”
He said that right away, but it only irritated me slightly.
Without saying anything back to him, I turned my back and started down the stairs, but I noticed a shadow on the ground, so I reflexively moved my body—right where a beer can fell.
Thinking it couldn’t be true, I looked towards where the man would be, and there he was, wearing a creepy smirk.
“Tch.”
I picked up the can and properly disposed of it.
“Tomokawa-san.”
“…Huh?”
But at that moment—almost as if questioning why, her… Yame-san’s voice could be heard.
“Huh… Why?”
“I’m here♪”
There was Yame-san.
Since we originally had a meeting place, I was surprised that she was there.
“You came… Why?”
“I couldn’t wait to show you around… So I came without waiting.”
“I see…”
Yame-san looked behind me.
I also followed her gaze, and there was a man looking dumbfounded with his mouth wide open… It seemed like it was unusual for him to see me with a woman.
Yame-san chuckled, smiled kindly while looking at me, and squeezed my hand tighter.
“Let’s go, Tomokawa-san. To your new home… A new place where you can rest your heart.”
“…Okay.”
And so, I started walking with Yame-san.
“By the way… about those dark circles?”
“Um… Embarrassingly, I couldn’t sleep last night because I was too excited about today.”
“Ah… So you were looking forward to it that much?”
“…”
Looking forward… It feels wrong to nod here!
But as if she understood everything, Yame-san smiled gently, looked at me, and squeezed my hand even tighter.
“I’m happy, Tomokawa-san♪”
“…”
Oh no, It’s no good… Her smile is too bright for me to look directly at.
From then on, our connected hands never let go, and the conversation led us to what seemed to be a very expensive apartment building.
(Yame-san mentioned that the other members of Citrus also live here.)
She said that, but I didn’t ask for more details and didn’t feel like asking.
Maybe Yame-san will tell me eventually, but honestly, I don’t really want to know at all.
“It looks like a place where celebrities live.”
“Rumors say they do, right?”
“Oh, they do…”
So they do live here…
I wonder who it is… Whether they’re a big name or just starting out, I don’t particularly care about that either.
“Here it is.”
And finally, I arrived at the room where Yame-san lives… or rather, the place I will be staying from today, which feels quite daunting.
Following Yame-san inside after she unlocked the door, I entered as well.
As the door closed with a click, Yame-san turned around.
“Welcome back, Tomokawa-san.”
How long has it been since I heard those words?
“Can I say ‘I’m back’?”
“Yes♪”
“…I’m back, Yame-san.”
Ah, it’s been a while since I said ‘I’m back.’
At work, there might be small exchanges like ‘welcome back’ or ‘I’m back’ when returning from the restroom, but at least in that company, there was none of that.
“Yame-san…?”
Suddenly, Yame-san touched my eyes… It seems I was quietly shedding tears.
And just like before, she hugged my head.
I had almost forgotten… No, I would never forget the resilience that guided me.
“From now on, I’ll say ‘welcome back’ to you. So I want you to say ‘I’m back’ to me. Of course, the reverse too.”
“Yes… Yes!”
Damn… I’m just crying all the time, how pathetic—
“Don’t think it’s pathetic to cry all the time, okay? It means you were tired enough to shed tears like that—more than anything, I’m happy that you showed me your vulnerable side. It means you trust me enough.”
“Trust… I’ve entrusted everything already.”
“Haha, it’s all thanks to the two years of building trust♪”
Even if we haven’t met face to face, the two years of interaction were never in vain… Is that what it means?
After forcibly holding back my tears, I finally received a tour.
“This is the living room.”
“…Wow.”
The living room… It’s so spacious!
It’s natural to compare it to where I’ve been living, but it’s incredibly vast and impressive.
“Oh, posters.”
On the wall were posters of the Citrus members.
Not just posters, but also tapestries, acrylic stands, and many decorations… It’s like Yame-san’s love for the other members is overflowing.
“They are comrades who have shared joys and sorrows.”
“I see… Wow.”
“The bathroom is over there, the toilet is there… But more importantly, let me show you to your room, Tomokawa-san.”
And so, I was led to the room I would be using.
“…Wow.”
It’s spacious… aside from that, as she said, the furniture is all set up, and there’s even a tapestry of Iroha… and even limited edition rare items.
“T-This is…!”
“Since you’re my fan, Tomokawa-san, consider it a housewarming gift. It may feel strange to display them in your own home, but did you like it?”
“Of course, I’m thrilled! I applied for this in a campaign but didn’t win!”
Wait, over there is an even rarer…!?
“This… this is a treasure trove…”
Am I dreaming…? When I pinched my cheek, it hurt.
“Tomokawa-san.”
“Yes?”
“I have a suggestion, is that okay?”
“A suggestion? Yes, go ahead!”
With a finger on her lips, mischievously, Yame-san said, “Since we’re living together, why don’t we call each other by our names?”
“By names…?”
“Yes. I want to call you Asahi-san and myself Shiori. What do you think?”
Calling each other by names… Of course, if Yame-san is okay with it, I nodded.
The smile Yame-san showed at that moment was so beautiful that it felt like my soul might escape.
