The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
A new morning came.
But the place where I woke up wasn’t my usual rundown shack.
A huge bed with a canopy.
Silk sheets that felt great against the skin.
From the window, I could look down on a well-kept garden, and I heard little birds chirping.
The old Sumeragi family mansion.
That was my new base—you know, me, Jin Sakurai.
“…This still feels kinda weird, y’know.”
I let out a sigh as I sat up.
The room was way too big, made me uneasy.
Never thought I’d miss the stains on the walls or the drafts.
“Morning, Jin.”
Along with the voice, a steaming cup of black tea got placed on the side table.
It was Tsugumi.
She wasn’t in her old patched-up clothes anymore; she had on a nicely made simple dress.
It was designed for easy movement, but with her pretty looks, she could’ve passed for some sheltered noble lady.
Just, that short sword stuck at her waist didn’t fit at all.
“Morning, Tsugumi. You’re up early.”
“Yeah. I did a patrol around the mansion.”
“Patrol?”
“In case there’re still enemies hiding. …No mice, though.”
Tsugumi smiled, but deep in her eyes, she wasn’t smiling.
I decided not to ask if her “mice” meant real rodents or Sumeragi family holdouts.
Her regenerated arms and legs seemed totally natural now.
The way she poured the tea was smooth, not a single sound.
Her movements were so perfect they almost looked a bit inhuman.
“Here ya go.”
“Thanks.”
I took the black tea and had a sip.
It tasted like fancy, aromatic high-end leaves.
“So, what’s on the schedule today?”
“Morning’s a meeting with Cattleya in the office. Afternoon’s reorganizing the knight order with Ray. …Oh, and looks like we got a visitor.”
“Visitor?”
“Yeah. Making a fuss out front at the gate. Cattleya’s handling it, but… whaddya wanna do? Kick ’em out?”
Tsugumi’s hand went to the short sword at her waist.
“Eliminate” sounded way too rough.
“Nah, I’ll go. Can’t avoid this stuff now that I’m head of the Guardian House.”
I finished the black tea and stood up.
I slipped into the new clothes they’d prepared—not some stiff noble formal wear, but high-quality knight gear focused on function.
I checked myself in the mirror.
The traces of that hand-to-mouth kid from a few months back had faded.
My eyes had this determined glint, and my back was straight.
“Let’s go, Tsugumi.”
“Yes, Master.”
Tsugumi bowed all dramatic and proper-like, then followed behind me.
When we got down to the mansion’s entrance hall, yelling voices echoed.
“That’s what I’ve been sayin’! Let me through! I’m the head of the Borg Merchant Association, in charge of this city’s logistics!”
A pudgy, greasy guy was screaming, his face bright red.
Behind him, a few guys who looked like bodyguards hung back.
Facing him off was Cattleya.
She kept a calm face, brushing off the guy’s outburst.
“As I said, the Master is busy, so we can’t allow meetings without an appointment.”
“Master!? Some no-name brat just sat in Sumeragi’s chair is all! Let me through already! I gotta talk about contracts with Lord Genzou!”
Sounds like one of those guys who did business riding on the Sumeragi name.
Now that Genzou was gone and the new head was some young punk, he was getting cocky.
“Noisy, huh.”
I called out while coming down the stairs.
The guy whipped around to me.
“Who’re you?”
“Nice to meet ya. I’m the new head, Jin Sakurai.”
I kept it calm and polite as I introduced myself.
The guy eyed me up and down like he was appraising goods, then snorted.
“Hmph, just a kid, huh. Hey, you. You know the Sumeragi family owes my association a ton of debt, right?”
“Debt?”
“Yeah! Unpaid bills for weapons and materials! How ’bout you pay up right now, nice and proper. If you can’t, gimme part of this mansion’s rights instead.”
Obvious lie.
Cattleya frowned and whispered to me.
“It’s a lie. The Sumeragi family took materials by force. No way there was any money lending.”
“Yeah, figured.”
Basically, a hyena trying to snatch mansion assets in the chaos.
I felt like sighing.
Easier dealing with magic beasts.
“Mr. Borg, right? If you got contracts from the previous head’s time, we’ll check ’em.”
“Documents? That stuff was all verbal agreements! You callin’ me a liar, you punk!?”
“No proof, then please leave.”
“Wha… cheeky brat! Hey, take him out!”
The guy jerked his chin, and the bodyguards behind drew swords.
Rough-looking mercenary types.
“Kid’s runnin’ the show? This city’s done for!”
“Won’t learn without some pain, huh?”
The guys grinned as they closed in.
Cattleya reached for her sword.
But faster than that.
A white shadow leaped in front of me.
“—Insolent fools.”
Cold voice.
It was Tsugumi.
She hadn’t drawn her weapon.
She just stepped forward with her right foot, slipping into the lead guy’s guard.
“Huh?”
Faster than the guy could react, Tsugumi’s left palm heel smashed his jaw.
Thud!!
A dull sound rang out, and the big guy’s body floated in the air.
He rolled messy, taking out the guys behind him.
“Wha, what!?”
“Fast…!”
The remaining guys panicked.
Tsugumi stared them down, face blank.
“You wanna die, drawing weapons in front of Jin?”
Killing intent.
Not just any—pure, sharp killing intent like when she slaughtered the mutants in the northern forest filled the hall.
The air froze.
The bodyguards froze like frogs stared down by a snake.
“Hii…!”
“This chick… her eyes are crazy…”
The merchant called Borg pissed himself and collapsed.
“Tsugumi, that’s enough.”
I called out, and Tsugumi snapped around, her killing intent vanishing.
“Yeah. But they were coming at you, Jin.”
“I know. Thanks for protecting me.”
I patted Tsugumi’s head, then turned to pale-faced Borg.
“As you saw, we got no shortage of muscle. Keep up the unfair demands, and we’ll respond in kind.”
I said it calm and clear.
“But if you wanna cooperate for the city’s growth, you’re welcome. Let’s do fair deals from now on.”
Carrot and stick.
Minato would’ve handled it smoother, but this was my best shot.
“O-okay… I’ll come back! Yeah, I’ll come back later!”
Borg scrambled up and dragged his passed-out bodyguards out.
“Phew… that wore me out.”
“Nice handling, my lord.”
Cattleya said, impressed.
“Intimidation with force, but leaving room for talks with mercy. Perfect head material.”
“Only ’cause you and Tsugumi were here. Alone, I’d get looked down on nonstop.”
“I won’t let ’em.”
Tsugumi gripped my sleeve tight.
“Anyone who makes fun of Jin, I’ll shut ’em all up.”
“…Easy there.”
Tsugumi’s loyalty was great, but still a bit risky.
The Present God’s words—”Every time you twist reason, the world’s distortion bounces back at you.”
Was her over-the-top aggression the distortion I caused?
“Alright, next up’s the office meeting.”
I switched gears.
No time to get sentimental.
To make this city a safe spot for Tsugumi and the others, tons to do.
In the office, Ray was already waiting.
He had his feet up on the fine desk, lounging, but dropped ’em quick when we came in.
“Yo, young boss. How was your first job?”
“Cut the young boss crap. …So, how’re the Black Knights?”
“Oh, that.”
Ray got serious.
“Half ran off. The half left say they’re loyal to Lady Cattleya… but honestly, morale’s shot. Sumeragi’s gone, they’re worried what happens to ’em.”
“Makes sense.”
Guys who were terror regime enforcers till now—sudden “be the good guys” throws ’em off.
“So, Jin, I got a proposal.”
Cattleya spread out a map.
“Disband the Black Knights, set up a new vigilante group. New name, total overhaul. Not Sumeragi private soldiers—shield to protect the city.”
“Got it. Name?”
“You decide.”
All eyes on me.
I thought a sec, then spoke.
“…[Silver Sword]. Whaddya think?”
“Silver…”
“Color of Tsugumi’s hair. Plus, image of light slicing darkness, and purity.”
I said it, and Tsugumi blushed, looking down.
Cattleya blinked surprised, then chuckled softly.
“Not bad. I’ll be captain, Ray vice-captain handling combat training. Cool?”
“No complaints.”
“None here. Under Lady Cattleya, even the roughnecks’ll behave.”
Plan set.
Reorg the group, maintain city security, watch the northern forest.
“One more big thing.”
Cattleya said, serious.
“Soon, there’ll be a Guardian House assembly. Whether you’re officially recognized as Sakurai head—that’s the showdown spot.”
Guardian House conference.
West’s Saijo family, Minato’s an ally, but the other three houses? Unknown.
How they’ll take the kid who beat Genzou.
“Got it. I’ll prepare.”
I nodded.
Looked out the window.
City kept moving today too.
People living, laughing, worrying.
I stood here to protect this view.
“Alright, let’s get to work!”
My call got strong responses from the crew.
Sakurai family’s fight was just starting.
But now I had trusty allies.
And that “Lv4” shining on my status screen.
No matter the hardship, I’ll heal it.
The city’s wounds, people’s heart wounds too.
I grabbed a pen and headed to the pile of papers.
