The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Morning.
Right when I woke up, I checked how my body felt inside.
There was this hot lump right below my navel, around my dantian.
That’s my magic power.
My magic tank was filled all the way to the limit.
Thanks to spending the whole day yesterday just resting and meditating hardcore.
Yeah, this should do it.
“…Morning, Jin.”
Tsugumi shifted beside me.
She didn’t have to crawl anymore.
She kicked the blanket off and stood up firmly on those white legs of hers, planting both feet on the floor.
Every single movement looked like a miracle to me—and at the same time, it made me super proud.
“Morning, Tsugumi. How you feeling?”
“Perfect. Like, the feeling in my toes is totally mine again, y’know?”
Tsugumi went up on her tiptoes right there to show me.
Her balance was spot on too.
Probably the result of all that so-called “rehab” that was really just intense training.
Over in the corner of the room, Cattleya had already finished taking care of her gear and was waiting.
“Looks like you’re all set, Jin.”
“Yeah. Ready whenever.”
I clenched my fist.
Today was the day we fix Ray’s arm.
Now that I’d gotten Tsugumi’s limbs back, this was the other big thing I’d been dying to do.
The time had finally come.
After a quick breakfast, it wasn’t long before someone knocked on the door.
“Jin, it’s me.”
Ray’s voice.
I opened the door and there he was—Ray, standing next to his little sister Leia.
Ray looked more nervous than usual, and Leia had her hands clasped together like she was praying.
“Been waiting. Come on in.”
I let the two of them inside.
Five people crammed into this tiny rundown shack.
It was packed, but it didn’t feel cramped in a bad way.
Everyone here was someone I could really trust.
“…So this is where you fixed her leg, huh.”
Ray looked at Tsugumi’s right foot and muttered, sounding kinda emotional.
“Yeah. It was super hot and hurt like hell… but it grew back properly.”
“I see… I’m ready.”
Ray turned to face me and let out a long breath.
“Please, Jin. Let me hold a sword again.”
“Yeah. Leave it to me.”
I had Ray sit on the bed.
He took off his jacket and bared his right shoulder.
The old stump where the sleeve just hung empty.
The pride that magic beast once ripped away from him.
I placed my hand on that cut-off surface.
This was different from Tsugumi’s case.
An adult man—and a battle-hardened warrior at that.
The bones were thicker, the muscle density way higher.
Which meant it was gonna eat up a ton more magic power.
But right now, I had enough.
“Here we go, Ray.”
“Yeah…!”
I started gathering my magic.
What I pictured was Ray’s left arm.
Perfect symmetry.
Muscles forged like steel, bones that had survived countless life-or-death fights.
“<Repair Evolve>—Level 4.”
My palm flared bright.
The whole room got washed in pure white light.
“Guh, oooooooooooohhh!!”
Ray let out this beast-like growl from deep in his throat.
Every muscle in his body locked up tight, sweat pouring out.
His left hand grabbed the sheet and squeezed so hard it looked like he was gonna rip it apart.
It hurt like hell.
Bones stretching out from a place that shouldn’t have anything, flesh swelling up, nerves growing through.
It was basically torture—like remaking a human body.
But Ray didn’t scream.
He gritted his teeth so hard, eyes almost rolling back, but he took the pain.
Because he knew this was the price to get back what he lost.
(…Shit, this is heavy!!)
I was going all out too.
Magic was getting sucked away like crazy.
Same speed as Tsugumi’s leg—or maybe even faster.
I wasn’t gonna half-ass even a single muscle fiber.
This was a warrior’s arm.
If I made it half-baked, it’d shatter the second he swung a sword.
I was making the strongest arm possible.
Pouring every last drop of my magic into an arm tougher than a steel sword.
Crack, crack, gurgle, gurgle—the sounds of regeneration echoed everywhere.
Leia let out a little scream and covered her mouth.
Cattleya and Tsugumi just stared without even blinking.
A few minutes passed.
But it felt like forever.
Suu…
The light finally pulled back.
“Haa… haa… haa…!”
I dropped straight down onto the floor.
My magic was bone dry.
This overwhelming exhaustion hit me—I couldn’t even move a finger.
But my eyes stayed locked forward.
And there it was.
A right arm thick like a log, skin scarred and weathered just like a veteran’s should be.
“Big… brother…?”
Leia called out in a shaky voice.
Ray was breathing hard through his shoulders, slowly turning to look at his right side.
His face went blank.
Eyes like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
He reached out carefully with his left hand and touched the right arm.
Real feeling.
Body heat.
“Can I… move it…?”
Ray focused.
He clenched his right fist.
Grip.
A strong, solid sound—like you could almost hear the power.
Veins popped on his arm, muscles bulged.
It moved.
Perfectly.
“Ah… aaah…!!”
A sound slipped out of Ray.
He stood up.
Then he thrust his right fist straight up toward the sky.
“It’s back… IT’S BAAAAAACKKKKK!!”
That was a roar straight from his soul.
Leia broke down crying and clung to her brother’s legs.
Ray wrapped his left arm around her and used his right hand to gently stroke her head.
Both hands—holding his little sister with love.
I just sat there on the floor watching it all.
Thank god.
It worked.
“…Good job, Jin.”
Tsugumi came over from the side and wiped the sweat off my face with a towel.
Cattleya handed me a cup of water.
“Impressive. Remaking an arm like that from scratch.”
“Heh… yeah, that was rough…”
I chugged the water in one go.
After sharing a moment of pure joy with his sister, Ray turned back to me.
His eyes had tears in them, but even more than that, there was this burning fire.
“Jin… ‘thank you’ doesn’t even cut it.”
“It’s cool. You’ve helped me out a ton too.”
“No, lemme say it. This right arm of mine—you gave me my life back.”
Ray dropped to one knee in front of me and bowed his head.
“My sword belongs to you starting today. If you say fight, I fight. If you say protect, I protect. Until the day this life runs out, I’ll be your shield and your spear.”
The biggest oath a mercenary can make.
I felt a little embarrassed, but I accepted his resolve.
“I’m counting on you, Ray.”
Ray looked up and flashed a huge grin.
A clear, refreshed smile—like something heavy had finally lifted off him.
“Alright then…”
Ray stood up and grabbed the big sword he’d left in the corner of the room—not the light one-handed one, but the greatsword he used to use.
The one he’d been carrying on his back this whole time.
He could never bring himself to throw it away.
“My body’s itching like crazy… Lady Cattleya.”
Ray shot her this sharp, eager look.
“Mind sparring with me? For rehab.”
“…Hmph.”
Cattleya’s lips twisted.
A battle-hungry smirk.
“Fine. Let’s see what that fully-healed body can really do.”
We moved to the empty lot behind the place.
Me, Tsugumi, and Leia were just spectators.
Ray took a stance with the greatsword.
Right hand high on the grip, left hand low.
Perfect middle guard.
Even just standing there, the pressure he gave off was on another level compared to when he had one arm.
The greatsword looked light as a feather in his hands.
“Here I come!!”
Ray kicked off the ground.
Fast.
Way faster than before.
With his balance fully restored, his step-in was twice as deep.
DOOON!!
Ray’s greatsword smashed against Cattleya’s longsword.
A heavy metallic clang rang out, and the shockwave made the grass shake.
“Heavy!!”
Cattleya shouted happily and deflected it.
But Ray didn’t stop.
He used the momentum from being pushed back, spun around, and slammed in a second hit loaded with centrifugal force.
Raw power.
That was Ray’s true nature.
The brutal mass attacks he couldn’t do with one arm.
“ORA ORA ORAAAA!!”
“Damn it, don’t get cocky!!”
There were even moments where Cattleya was forced purely on defense.
Of course she wasn’t going all out, but still—the fact that he was pushing the knight captain back was real.
“Amazing…”
Tsugumi’s eyes were sparkling next to me.
She was glued to every move Ray made.
Footwork, how he used his arms, breathing.
She was trying to soak it all up.
“If I could fight like that… I could protect Jin even better.”
“Tsugumi…”
Her drive always came back to that.
But right now, I was really glad for it.
A few minutes later.
Ray and Cattleya both pulled their swords back at the same time.
“Haa… haa… Man, my body’s still rusty as hell.”
“What are you talking about? For your first fight back, that was damn good.”
Cattleya sheathed her sword and nodded, looking satisfied.
“You pass, Ray. I can leave my back to you.”
“Honored, Captain.”
The two of them gripped hands hard.
The moment their old teacher-student relationship turned into equal comrades-in-arms.
Watching that, I felt this solid sense of certainty.
The strongest swordsman, Ray.
The unbreakable knight, Cattleya.
And Tsugumi, who’s just a bundle of insane potential.
Our fighting strength was complete.
No matter what came at us, we could handle it.
“Jin.”
Ray came back and slapped my shoulder.
That right hand felt hot and strong.
“Now I can work without holding back… The northern forest thing isn’t over yet, right?”
“Yeah. We took down the big frog, but the ecosystem’s still messed up from it. And also…”
I glanced toward the direction of the mansion.
Genzou’s ambitions.
That was another problem we couldn’t just ignore.
“We’ve got a mountain of stuff to do.”
“Bring it on. I’ll break in this new arm real good.”
Ray grinned like a wild animal.
We laughed together in the empty lot.
The sunlight was blinding.
But dark clouds were still hanging over our future.
Even so, with the way we were right now—
With this bond and the power we’d regained, I was sure we could cut through anything.
I looked at Tsugumi’s hand, freshly healed, and at Ray’s arm.
The hope I’d created.
And now that hope was turning into swords, ready to protect me.
“Let’s go. For our future.”
Everyone nodded hard at my words.
