The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
I could see a white ceiling.
It smelled like clean, starched sheets.
“…Ah.”
The second a hoarse little sound slipped out of me, something moved at the edge of my vision.
“Jin! You’re awake!?”
It was Tsugumi.
She was practically plastered to the side of the bed, leaning in super close to stare at my face.
Both her eyes were bright red and puffy—you could tell right away how much she’d been crying.
“Tsugumi… where am I…?”
“This isn’t your place. It’s the medical room in the mansion,” a voice said from the other side.
Cattleya.
She was sitting in a chair with her arms crossed, but even though she was trying to hide it, you could see the relief written all over her face.
“You were out cold for a full three days. I seriously thought you were gonna die like that.”
“Three whole days… huh. That long?”
“Yeah. Your body looked like a torn-up rag. Skin melted, muscles ripped apart, bones shattered… honestly, it’s a miracle you still looked even vaguely human.”
Cattleya gave a tired shrug like she couldn’t believe it.
I looked down at myself.
I was wrapped in bandages, but… there was no pain.
I tried moving my fingers.
They moved.
Looks like my healing magic kept working on autopilot even while I was unconscious.
“Jin… ugh… Jiiin…!”
Tsugumi buried her face in my chest and started sobbing.
I slowly lifted my hand and stroked the back of her head.
“Sorry for making you worry.”
“I was so scared… I thought I’d never see you again… ugh…”
“It’s okay. I’m not gonna die. I promised, remember?”
While I was calming Tsugumi down, something hit me and my heart slammed against my ribs.
Right.
Right before I blacked out.
That status screen.
I quickly raised my left hand.
Cattleya gave me a weird look, but I didn’t care.
I focused hard.
Show me.
A semi-transparent window floated up in the air.

“——!!”
My breath caught.
The garbled text was gone.
It was written there clear as day.
Limb regeneration.
The power I’d been chasing this whole time… it was finally here.
“What’s wrong, Jin? Why’re your eyes so wide?”
“Cattleya…”
My voice was shaking when I called her name.
“It came… it finally came.”
“What did?”
“Level 4. I can regenerate limbs now.”
The second those words left my mouth, Cattleya’s eyes flew open and Tsugumi jerked her head up.
“…For real?”
“Yeah. For real.”
I nodded hard.
“Tsugumi. I can fix your hand and your foot.”
Time seemed to freeze.
Tsugumi’s lips trembled. She tried to say something but no sound came out—just tears rolling down her cheeks one after another.
Those weren’t tears of sadness.
They were the kind of tears you can only cry when you’ve finally crawled out of the pit of despair—tears of hope.
“Let’s go home.”
I tried to sit up from the bed.
My body wobbled and Cattleya quickly caught me.
“Hey, idiot. You should still be resting.”
“No, I wanna do it right now. Even one second sooner for Tsugumi…”
She must’ve felt how desperate I was because Cattleya let out a long sigh, then offered me her shoulder.
“Fine. But don’t push yourself. Your mana and stamina should be completely drained.”
“Yeah, I know.”
We didn’t even have time to thank the people in the mansion. We just hopped straight into the carriage Cattleya had prepared and headed home.
The familiar rundown shack.
Even though we’d only been gone three days, it felt like we’d been away for years.
I sat Tsugumi down on the bed.
Cattleya leaned against the doorframe and quietly watched over us.
“Tsugumi, you ready mentally?”
“…Yeah.”
She nodded, looking really tense.
Her eyes were locked on the rounded stump of her missing left arm—the old scar.
“I’m starting with the left arm. It’s probably gonna hurt the most out of anything so far, and it’ll take the longest too.”
“It’s okay. If it’s pain you’re giving me, Jin, I can handle it.”
“…Alright.”
I took a deep breath.
All the experience points from the Mad Bear fight, the Twin-Headed Viper fight, and that death match inside the Gratony Frog’s stomach—they were all gathered right here in my fingertips.
I placed my hand on Tsugumi’s left shoulder.
I pictured it.
Bones forming, nerves connecting, blood vessels threading through, muscles weaving together, skin covering everything.
Something almost like human transmutation—a miracle straight from the gods.
“<Repair Evolve>—Level 4.”
A blinding light filled the whole room.
It was way brighter and fiercer than the light when I restored Tsugumi’s eyesight.
“Nnngh… ghh, uuuuuuuuugh!!”
Tsugumi clenched her teeth, desperately holding back a scream.
The sound of bones exploding with growth.
The wet squirming of flesh.
Crack-crack, gurgle-gurgle—strange noises echoed through the room.
My mana was getting sucked out in huge chunks.
It felt just like when I kept regenerating inside the giant frog’s belly—no, even worse.
Creating a whole body part from nothing took this much energy…
My consciousness started to fade.
But I gritted my teeth and held on.
I couldn’t collapse here.
Just a little more.
Just a little more and it’ll reach the fingertips…!
Inside the light, the shape was forming.
Upper arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, and then five fingers.
The light slowly pulled back.
I dropped heavily to my knees.
I was breathing hard, sweat pouring off me.
“Haa… haa… haa…”
Tsugumi was panting too, shoulders heaving.
She stared blankly at her left side.
There…
A pale, slender, beautiful arm had grown.
“…Arm…”
Tsugumi hesitantly reached out with her right hand and touched the new left one.
It was warm.
She could feel it.
“Can you move it?”
When I asked, Tsugumi slowly made a fist, then opened her hand.
Grip, release. Grip, release.
At first the movements were stiff and awkward, but they got smoother bit by bit.
“It moves… it’s moving, Jin…!”
Tsugumi looked up at me.
Tears were streaming down both cheeks.
“It’s here… my arm is really here…!”
“I’m so glad… seriously so glad…”
Even I started tearing up.
We’d finally gotten one piece back.
Tsugumi leaned forward from the bed and threw both arms wide toward me.
“Jin!”
She jumped into me.
Not with one arm—with both.
She wrapped both arms around my back and hugged me as hard as she could.
The strength of that hug showed exactly how happy she was.
The power from her right hand and the power from her left hand.
Both of them pressed warm against my back.
“Thank you… thank you…! I’ve wanted to hug you like this for sooo long…!”
Tsugumi’s crying voice soaked right into my chest.
I hugged her back tight.
A complete embrace.
It felt like the last missing puzzle piece finally clicked into place.
“…Incredible.”
Cattleya whispered quietly.
She was wiping the corners of her eyes too.
“Completely regenerating a part of the body—something even the legendary saintesses were said to be incapable of. You might’ve just changed history, you know.”
“History doesn’t matter to me. I just wanted to make Tsugumi whole again.”
I answered with a small laugh.
But right after, a brutal wave of dizziness hit me.
“Whoa…”
“Jin!?”
I almost collapsed onto the floor.
Tsugumi hurriedly caught me.
With both arms now, she could hold me steady.
“Sorry… guess I burned way too much mana…”
“The leg can wait till next time! Rest for today!”
Tsugumi said it frantically.
Yeah, she was right—right now I didn’t have even a drop of mana left to regrow a leg.
Just one arm took this much.
Regenerating a leg would probably need a few days of mana recovery first.
“…Yeah, I’ll do that.”
With Tsugumi supporting me, I lay back down on the bed.
She kept holding my hand with her brand-new left one.
Like she was making sure it was real, she kept lacing our fingers together over and over.
It was a happy moment.
I wished time could just freeze right there.
But reality’s never that kind.
BAM BAM!
Suddenly the door was pounded on—hard.
The air in the room froze.
Cattleya’s hand instantly went to her sword hilt and her sharp eyes locked on the door.
“Who is it?”
A cold, emotionless voice answered from the other side.
“A messenger from the Sumeragi family. Is Lord Jin present?”
It felt like someone grabbed my heart and squeezed.
Right.
I hadn’t forgotten.
I still had a contract I had to fulfill.
Genzou Sumeragi.
Treating that old, powerful man.
“…Yeah, I’m here.”
I forced myself to sit up.
Tsugumi grabbed my shirt, looking scared.
Her new left hand was trembling.
“It’s okay.”
I laid my hand over hers.
“I’m just gonna go talk for a bit.”
I exchanged a quick look with Cattleya.
She gave a small nod and opened the door.
Several black-armored knights stood there.
The moment they saw me, they bowed deeply.
“Lord Genzou summons you. We ask that you accompany us to the mansion immediately.”
“…You already know I leveled up?”
“We received a report from our spies. That limb regeneration has become possible.”
The information traveled fast.
Or rather… they had me under surveillance.
…Makes sense, I guess.
Genzou Sumeragi is cowardly and super cautious.
Having spies wouldn’t be weird for him at all.
“Got it. I’ll go.”
“Jin…!”
Tsugumi called my name.
I turned back and forced the biggest smile I could manage.
“I’ll be right back. We’ll fix your leg after I get home, okay?”
“…Promise?”
“Yeah, promise.”
I stood up.
My mana was bone-dry, but my resolve was completely full.
If I heal Genzou, the old guy might regain his youth and start ruling this city with fear again.
But if I refuse, we’ll probably get killed.
To protect Tsugumi, I’ve got no choice but to take the devil’s hand.
…Or maybe.
Maybe with my own hands, I can control that devil instead.
“Cattleya, I’m counting on you to protect Tsugumi.”
“Understood. I’ll guard her with my life.”
I stepped outside.
The sound of the door closing behind me rang like the final bell of judgment.
