The Otherworld Was Way Too Brutal – After I Healed the Mutilated Girl, She Turned Into a Completely Obsessed Yandere Guard Dog - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
The world was… this freaking vivid, huh.
When I woke up in the morning, the darkness that used to cover the left side of my vision was just… gone.
Sunlight slipped in through the gap in the curtains.
Even the little specks of dust floating around were sparkling like crazy.
I blinked over and over.
Left eye. Right eye.
The two images overlapped inside my head, and suddenly the whole world popped out in 3D.
“…Jin.”
Right next to me.
I looked at Jin’s face—he was breathing nice and steady in his sleep.
Before, I could only see half of it.
It was all flat, like some distant painting.
But now it’s different.
I could actually feel his presence, like… he’s really right there, solid and real.
He must’ve been exhausted.
He was out cold, sleeping like a rock.
There was still a tiny scratch on his cheek from yesterday’s fight.
He fought that terrifying bear… all for me.
He bled for me, broke bones for me, took all that pain for me.
“…I love you so much.”
I reached out with my remaining right hand and gently touched his cheek.
It was warm.
From the bottom of my heart, I thought—I wanna protect this warmth.
Suddenly, I felt something in the corner of the room.
“…You awake?”
It was Cattleya.
She was already in her armor, doing her usual morning sword maintenance.
That silver armor looked even colder and more beautiful now that I could see it with both eyes.
I looked at Cattleya.
It was literally just yesterday.
I still hadn’t sorted out all my feelings about her.
But I did know one thing.
If she hadn’t been there, I never would’ve gotten my sight back.
And Jin would’ve died if she hadn’t shown up.
“…Morning.”
“Yeah, morning.”
Cattleya sheathed her sword and walked over.
She leaned down a bit to look at my face.
“How’s the eye doing?”
“…I can see really well.”
“Good. That’s a relief.”
She said it short and simple, but the corner of her mouth lifted just a tiny bit.
That smile… ugh, it was annoyingly pretty.
A perfect, strong, beautiful woman with all her limbs.
She had everything I didn’t.
The jealousy hadn’t completely disappeared.
But right now, there was something way more important I needed to say.
“…Thanks.”
It probably came out super quiet, like a mosquito buzzing.
Still, Cattleya caught it.
“No need for thanks. I just did my job.”
“…But still, thanks. For protecting Jin.”
“Hmph. Keeping that idiot alive is part of my job too.”
Cattleya said it kinda gruff, then went back to her spot.
She’s not a bad person.
I know that.
And knowing that… makes it hurt even more.
If she was some awful bitch, I could just hate her with everything I’ve got.
“Mmm…”
Next to me, Jin stirred a little.
He slowly opened his eyes.
“…Ah, morning, Tsugumi.”
“Morning, Jin.”
Jin looked at me with sleepy eyes, then suddenly snapped wide awake.
He shot up and leaned in close to check my face.
“Your eye! How is it? Does it hurt? Can you see okay?”
“Hehe, you’re super close, Jin.”
My worrywart hero.
His desperate face was so funny and so sweet that I couldn’t help smiling.
“I’m fine. I can see really clearly. I can see your face perfectly.”
“…Thank god… seriously, thank god…”
Jin let out a huge relieved breath and gently patted my head.
That big hand felt better than anything.
Breakfast time.
Like always, Jin got bread and soup ready.
I held the spoon in my right hand.
Before, I couldn’t judge distance at all and spilled soup all the time.
Sometimes I was too scared to eat by myself and let Jin feed me.
But today was different.
I could tell how far the bowl was.
I knew exactly when the spoon would scoop up soup.
I carefully brought it to my mouth.
Not a single drop spilled. I drank it clean.
“Wow, Tsugumi. You’re doing great—no spills at all.”
Jin sounded surprised and really happy.
“Yeah… I can tell the distance now. I can drink without spilling.”
“Right, yeah. With both eyes you get proper depth perception.”
Jin was grinning like it happened to him.
That made me so happy I kept bringing the spoon up again and again.
I could eat by myself.
Something so normal felt like a miracle right now.
Even Cattleya, while quietly eating, glanced over and gave a small nod.
“Alright, time to head out.”
After we finished, Jin and Cattleya stood up.
They were going leveling again today.
“We’re off, Tsugumi. Be a good girl and wait for us, okay?”
“Gear’s all set. Let’s move, Jin.”
The two of them stood side by side.
A boy in ragged clothes and a beautiful knight in shining silver armor.
They looked mismatched, but you could totally see the real trust between them—people who’d survived hell together.
I looked up at them from the bed.
Now that my left eye could see, their figures stood out even sharper.
I really didn’t wanna think they looked good together.
“…Have a safe trip.”
I forced the biggest smile I could and waved.
The door closed.
Silence came back to the room.
I looked down at my own body.
My left arm should be there—but it’s gone.
My right leg should be there—but it’s gone.
I got my sight back.
But it’s still not enough.
Jin said it.
If we level up more, maybe I can get my limbs back too.
(…Hurry…)
I gripped the sheet tight with my right hand.
I want my arms and legs soon.
I wanna stand on my own two feet like Cattleya.
I wanna swing a sword with my own hands.
Then I can protect Jin.
I won’t be the pathetic girl who only gets protected anymore.
I can stand right next to him, watch each other’s backs.
And when that happens—I’m taking Jin back from Cattleya.
The person closest to Jin is gonna be me. Only me.
“…I’ll be waiting, Jin.”
I whispered it in the empty room.
I swear my newly recovered left eye glinted kind of darkly for a second.
My world got bigger.
And right in the center of that world—there’s always Jin.
No matter what, that’s never gonna change.
I slid off the bed.
Even if I had to crawl, I was gonna get some water.
I won’t mess up anymore.
With both eyes, I should be able to judge the distance to the water jug.
Even if it’s just a little… I wanna be useful to Jin.
I’m gonna do whatever I can.
