- Chapter 51: A Date with the Beautiful Teacher
“Ah, I’m so nervous!”
“What are you talking about now? This is your third date already.”
“Well, yeah, but… Don’t you get nervous every time before a first date?”
“What are you, a lovestruck teenager? Are you going through puberty or something?”
How rude.
“Excuse me! I am a teenager going through puberty!”
“…Oh, that’s right,” she said, as if genuinely surprised.
Wait, did Kazari-san seriously forget? Wasn’t that kind of harsh? Look at me—I was so obviously a high schooler!
“Well, you’ve been so busy scheming, keeping up with everyone, and taking the lead lately that I kind of forgot… But now that you mention it, yes, you’re still in high school.”
Emotionally, maybe I did seem older. Sure, I’d been an adult before, but I’d only lived to the end of high school back then!
Which meant… I was just doing high school for the second time.
“Anyway, I am a full-blooded high schooler, so of course I’m nervous about going on a date with someone who’s declared that she hates my guts, already has a partner, yet still agreed to this.”
What was I even supposed to talk about with Akizuki-san?
What if she glared at me the whole time or dumped me in the ocean? I guess I’d just swim back if that happened.
“Well, whatever happens, happens… Just remember to contact me immediately if anyone tries to sabotage you again, okay?”
Sabotage? Hmm, I didn’t think anything like that would happen this time.
“Alright, I’m off then.”
“Take care… dear master~!”
“Gah?!”
I nearly choked.
She usually only called me “Kyo-sama”, so hearing “dear master” out of nowhere was… surprisingly impactful. I liked it. Maybe if it was said in a more… suitable context, it’d really get me going.
Kazari-san narrowed her eyes slightly.
“What’s so strange about me, as your maid, calling you ‘dear master’?” (T/N: She uses Danna-sama)
“You’ve never called me that before, so don’t pretend like it’s normal.”
“Well, hasn’t it taken your mind off your nerves?”
…Fine, I guess it had.
But my heart was still racing from the shock!
“Your way of calming me down is way too bold. It scared me!”
“‘Bold’, huh? That doesn’t sound cute at all. Why not say it made your heart flutter?”
“Don’t you think it’s weird for a guy to say that something made his heart flutter?”
“…You may be right.”
Ah, some things didn’t change no matter which world you were in. So, stop trying to make me say it!
“Come on, it’s time for you to leave. I have things to do as well, so off you go, shoo, shoo.”
She even waved her hand at me dismissively, like I was some bothersome husband in a long-married couple.
“Alright, I’m off. Take care.”
“Yes, yes, take care—have a good day!”
And so, with a slightly unsatisfied feeling, I headed outside.
—
If I remember correctly, Akizuki-san had said she’d meet me in front of the house…
She should be here any moment now—oh, wait.
There was a red sports car parked nearby. I felt like I’d seen that car before…
Wait, wasn’t that the same car where I’d once seen… someone kissing? Yeah, I was pretty sure I’d seen Akizuki-san stepping out of that car back then.
So this car belonged to Akizuki-san, right?
Or maybe it was originally hers, and she just lent it to Shiraishi-sensei that one time?
Yeah, that’s it. That’s gotta be it.
…There was no way this was turning into a date with three people, right?
—
“Ah, Kyoya-kun! Over here! I’ve been waiting for you!”
The familiar, glamorous woman standing by the car greeted me cheerfully.
She looked stunning, her sunglasses resting casually on her hair.
“…What are you doing here, Shiraishi-sensei?”
“Oh, no, no! Outside of school, don’t call me ‘Sensei’! That’s just for school and, well, the nighttime—don’t you think?”
“…I see. Understood, Shiraishi-san.”
“What exactly are you imagining, hmm? And just now, you totally gulped, didn’t you?”
She smirked mischievously, her smile entirely teasing.
Damn it!
“…I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
But how did she even notice?! She made me imagine something without even realizing it.
Just for a second, I pictured her in a dangerously short lab coat, adjusting her glasses while running her hand suggestively along her body…
“Your eyes are darting all over the place, Kyoya-kun. It’s so obvious.”
“C-Could this be… the infamous honey trap?!”
No! It was because she was wearing a short skirt today—it completely caught me off guard. I’d been deceived.
“I didn’t set up any kind of trap. You’re the one who walked right into it, weren’t you?”
“Impossible!”
“Fufu, Kyoya-kun, you wear your emotions on your face. Honestly, I find that kind of adorable. But seriously, are you planning to stand there forever? Hurry up and get in—it’s cold out here.”
I guess today, she was going to act more like an older sister than a teacher.
Now that she mentioned it, Shiraishi-sen—Shiraishi-san was only wearing a simple navy blue shirt. She was visibly shivering from the cold.
“I’ll explain why I’m here once we’re inside, so come on. Hurry up.”
Before I could protest, she practically dragged me into the car, like Misato-san from that one anime about humanoid robots.
Inside, the car smelled amazing.
There was a sweet scent, like vanilla, mixed with Shiraishi-san’s perfume. It created a unique, luxurious fragrance that was both calming and intoxicating.
And, of course, everything was thoughtfully prepared—there was even a bottle of water waiting for me.
“Wow, this is impressive.”
“Isn’t it?” she said, smiling proudly.
Her mature aura had me flustered, and before I knew it, the car started moving.
—
This was only the second time I’d ever ridden in someone else’s car.
Hosho-san was an excellent driver, but Shiraishi-san’s skills were equally impressive. Not that I was any expert at judging driving skills, though.
“So, why are you here, Shiraishi-sensei? And where is Akizuki-san?”
“Oh my, am I not good enough for you?”
She let out a soft, seductive laugh.
“No, no, that’s not it! I’m delighted to have the chance to talk with you, Shiraishi-san. It’s just that… well, I was supposed to go on a date with Akizuki-san today.”
After all, I had planned to use this date to express my feelings before tomorrow’s fiancée vote—or at least understand hers.
“Oh, you’re wondering about Rio, aren’t you? That’s understandable. You have the fiancée vote tomorrow, after all. Of course, you’d want to go on a date with Rio.”
“Well… yes, that’s true. To be honest.”
And yet, here you are, standing in her place.
“So, after getting all hyped up for the date, you find me picking you up instead of Rio. It’s definitely a strange situation.”
“Yes, it is. And while we’re at it, may I ask another fundamental question? Now seems as good a time as any.”
I might as well address what I’d been avoiding. This was the perfect chance to get some clarity.
“Sure, go ahead. I think I already know what you want to ask, but ask away—I’ll answer anything, even my three sizes!”
I see. Interesting. Well, then—
“In that case, now I have two questions for you.”
“Honest, aren’t you? But be careful not to let your excitement show too much, especially around Rio, okay?” she teased, adding a playful wink.
“For the record, I’m not letting anything show. But fine, I’ll be mindful.”
She chuckled lightly.
This must be what they call the composure of an adult. It was unsettling how easily she threw me off my rhythm.
“So, what do you want to ask me?”
“Alright, I’ll get straight to it—are you and Akizuki-san dating?”
I already knew the answer was yes, but I hadn’t actually heard it directly from either of them. All I’d seen was that kiss.
Shiraishi-sensei, still smiling, replied without hesitation.
“Yes, we’re in a relationship. I genuinely care about Rio.”
“I figured as much. I appreciate you telling me now, though—it makes me wonder why you didn’t tell me before.”
“Are you talking about the first time we spoke? …If you’d asked then, I would’ve said so. It’s not like I was hiding it, I just didn’t bring it up because nobody asked.”
Oh. I had assumed they were deliberately keeping it a secret.
“Well, I still have plenty more questions for you, but let’s start with my original one—why are you here today instead of her?”
“That’s simple. I’ve been with Rio since yesterday, but she’s been feeling slightly unwell.”
“What? Is she okay?”
And why are you even out here if she’s sick?
“She’s fine. Her fever has already gone down. Honestly, she was planning to come here today since she’d promised you, but—”
“She didn’t need to push herself that hard.”
“That’s just how she is—a girl with a strong sense of responsibility. She was determined to come, even for your sake. That’s exactly the kind of person she is.”
“So I told her I’d come in her place to make sure everything went smoothly. “
“She was reluctant to agree, though,“ Shiraishi-san said with a wry smile.
“In that case, why didn’t you just tell her to cancel?”
“She’s not the type to do that. She even intends to vote properly in tomorrow’s fiancée vote, with no grudges or personal bias.”
So Akizuki-san was someone who valued fairness.
I supposed that was fitting for a teacher. You couldn’t do this kind of work without upholding some sense of integrity.
“She’s so serious,” Shiraishi-san added, her voice a mix of exasperation and pride, accompanied by a gentle smile.
That smile alone was enough to show how much she truly loved Akizuki-san.
It wasn’t the seductive, calculating kind of smile she normally flashed—it was genuine.
But maybe… just maybe—
“And that’s why she asked me to properly evaluate Kyoya-kun! So, we’re heading somewhere special!”
“Somewhere special?”
“Yup, about two hours from here.”
“And where exactly is that?”
“Thaaaat… is a secret♡.”
She even threw in a little wink.
It was shamelessly cutesy—not that I disliked it. In fact, I kind of liked it.
“And as for why I came, well… I also just wanted to see you, Kyoya-kun.”
She murmured it casually, almost like an afterthought, while keeping her gaze forward.
This woman… She was constantly throwing me off my game.
“Anyway, it’s a long drive, so how about we chat for a bit?”
The car had just merged onto the highway.
“Alright, then my second question…”
“Oh, what is it? Something tough? Can your big sister here even answer it?”
It was not a difficult question. If she remembered, she should be able to answer it.
“Could you tell me your three sizes?”
“Gah—!”
I guess Shiraishi-san didn’t see that one coming—she choked in surprise.
You go girl.
