Spring Had Ended.
Since the day Il killed Bodoin, he had not shown his face at the guards’ station. Moreover, after seeing off Bodoin’s wife and daughter, he spent the next three days lying in bed, doing nothing but sleeping.
Of course, it wasn’t due to any sentimental feelings. In fact, after seeing off Bodoin’s family, he used the concern of those around him as an excuse to do nothing but lazily rest.
No matter what was said, this boy was essentially useless.
As for Shia, he had no intention of getting involved with her either. It was sheer folly to go out of his way to visit Rimrim and get dragged into more trouble. He had long since decided to leave everything to that lewd woman.
On a weekday afternoon, in the two-room guardhouse, Il lay in bed, staring at the ceiling while half-listening to the conversation between Nisha and her mother next door.
He wondered… Would he one day have to fight against Nisha and even his mother?
He tried to suppress the thought, telling himself he was prepared for it, but still hoped that day would come as late as possible.
As he indulged in these somewhat sentimental musings, a sudden knocking from the door interrupted him.
“Yoohoo!”
Il could hear Nisha speaking to someone outside the door. A moment later, hurried footsteps approached, and the door to Il’s room was flung open with a bang.
And then—
“Huh? What the… ugh!?”
Just as Il tried to sit up casually, Nisha suddenly launched a flying kick directly into his stomach. It was an expertly executed kick, landing squarely on him.
“O-O-O-Onii-chan! What have you done?!”
“Ugh… What do you mean, what have I done? What’s going on?”
Groaning in pain, Il clutched his stomach and asked in confusion.
“You—You tricked a girl into becoming your slave! I knew you were scum, but I didn’t think you’d go that far!”
“Calm down, Nisha! What in the world is…?”
Tears welled up in Nisha’s eyes as she pressed in on him. Il, with his eyes wide in surprise, staggered backward, looking toward the door. There, standing quietly with a slight smile on her face, was a pale-skinned girl wearing a cute white blouse and a navy high-waisted skirt.
“You… You, Shia! What—what are you doing here!?”
Ignoring Il’s protest, Shia gave a faint, embarrassed smile.
“My master hasn’t come to fetch me, so… I came here myself.”
“You came here?! What the hell!”
“What are you going to do now, Il?!”
Shoving Nisha aside, Il rushed toward Shia, pointing his finger at her face as he raised his voice.
“W-What… What are you trying to do?!”
“What do you think?”
Shia briefly looked puzzled, but then nodded to herself as if coming to a realization. She leaned in close to Il’s ear and whispered softly.
“Master, please think carefully. As long as I wear this slave collar, I cannot harm you. So, even if you end up killing everyone and being left alone, I will always be by your side.”
Il’s eyes widened in shock. He couldn’t help but look at her as though she were a monster.
However, Shia remained unfazed, accepting his gaze with a broad, joyful smile.
“Therefore… Please take good care of me for a long time, Master.”
Behind Shia, beyond the door.
Before he knew it, spring had passed, and in the warm air of early summer, the bright green leaves swayed gently in the wind, indifferent to the world around them.
