Chapter 149 Reconciliation
At the “Spirit Workshop,” personnel changes were underway.
Laurent announced the promotions in front of all the staff gathered at the atelier.
Most of the members who had been affiliated with the guild before moving to the new workshop received promotions and new positions.
Aina was appointed as the branch manager.
Wayne, Pat, and Lina were given the title of senior specialists.
Rody, Aiez, Lurie, and Melinda were given the title of sub-leaders.
Each of them was presented with a special badge and a certificate, which also noted an increase in their salary.
“Alright! Got myself a fancy title.”
“Yeah, having something like this definitely boosts motivation.”
Wayne and Pat nodded to each other proudly, looking at their new titles.
Up until this point, the announcements were mostly as expected and did not surprise anyone.
“Alright, then, lastly, Lizetta.”
“Yes.”
“I want you to serve as the chief developer for the equipment designed to take down the ‘Giant Fire Dragon, Grand Fafnir.'”
“Yes! I will do my utmost!”
The unexpected announcement caused a stir in the room.
“What?! Hey, are you serious?”
Wayne couldn’t help but react.
“No matter how skilled she was in the Quartet, you’re promoting someone who just joined to such an important role?”
“Wouldn’t it be better to use Aina’s ‘Exterior Enhancement Coating’ for the equipment against the ‘Giant Fire Dragon, Grand Fafnir’?”
Pat agreed with Wayne’s opinion.
“Oh, I see. I haven’t mentioned it yet. Lizetta has awakened a new unique skill, ‘Integrated Design.'”
“‘Integrated Design’?”
“What is that? Another skill I’ve never heard of…”
“‘Integrated Design’ is a skill that allows the creation of blueprints by integrating the unique skills of multiple people. It’s essentially a superior version of the normal ‘Product Design’ skill.”
“A superior version…”
Rody muttered uneasily.
Noticing Rody’s anxious expression, Laurent quickly reassured him.
“Rody, this doesn’t mean your job is gone. Lizetta will be focusing on designing equipment that combines multiple unique skills, mostly for external adventurer guilds. As for local guilds, you’ll continue handling the designs as you always have.”
Hearing this, Rody visibly relaxed.
“I see. Understood.”
“Anyway, thanks to her, she’ll be able to create equipment that integrates Wayne’s ‘Magic Stone Cutting’ and Aina’s ‘Exterior Enhancement Coating.'”
“So that’s why Lizetta has been working alone lately, to awaken her unique skill.”
“So, that’s what she was up to while sneaking around. Well, let’s see what she can do then.”
Pat and Wayne seemed somewhat convinced.
And so, under the new structure, the ‘Spirit Workshop’ began to move forward.
Lizetta immediately began examining the blueprints for equipment made using Aina’s and Wayne’s unique skills.
She quickly realized that their unique skills were far more powerful than she had imagined.
(“I never thought their skills would be this strong… And it’s not just the skills themselves; their application is incredibly refined…”)
Lizetta was once again amazed by Laurent’s ability to discover and utilize talent so effectively.
Having acquired the unique skill ‘Integrated Design,’ Lizetta swiftly deepened her understanding of the two skills.
Then, she started creating blueprints that combined their unique skills with her own.
Wayne squinted as he looked at the blueprint Lizetta had created.
(“Oh, I see. This is really well done.”)
Aina also immediately recognized the brilliance of Lizetta’s design at a glance.
The “Flame Shield,” the double-layered “Exterior Enhancement Coating” armor, and the silver poison sword.
All were designed to fully utilize each of their unique skills, considering Jill’s stats.
The three quickly began the manufacturing process.
Both the “Flame Shield” and the “Blue Reflector Armor” were completed in no time.
All that remained was the silver poison sword.
The silver poison sword had the most complex manufacturing process.
First, Lizetta created a mold for the silver sword, and Wayne used “Magic Stone Cutting” to reduce its weight.
Then, Aina applied a red “Exterior Enhancement Coating” to the blade to complete it.
The challenge with this sword was that grooves had to be carved into the blade to allow the poison to flow through it.
These grooves made the design much more complex.
Moreover, since much of the weight allowance had been allocated to the “Flame Shield” and the “Blue Reflector Armor,” the sword’s weight had to be minimized as much as possible.
While there shouldn’t have been any problems in the design, even the slightest deviation during manufacturing could result in failure.
Everything depended on how precisely Wayne could handle the weight reduction.
(“Alright, let’s see how this goes.”)
Lizetta waited for Wayne to finish the weight reduction process.
“Wayne, what is the meaning of this, with that sword!?”
As Aina was taking a break in the lounge, Lizetta’s angry voice echoed through.
“Huh? Lizetta? What’s got you so worked up?”
“What do you mean, ‘what’? It’s completely different from the blueprint!”
Lizetta slammed the blueprint down on the table.
“With this, the mechanism for distributing the poison throughout the blade is ruined, isn’t it?”
“Oh, that,” Wayne said nonchalantly.
“This way, it can be made lighter, so it’s fine like this. I’ll fix it up.”
Wayne began drawing new lines on the blueprint.
“What? What are you doing, changing it on your own? I’m the leader of this equipment development, so do as I say!”
“No, I’m telling you, this way is better.”
“But that would ruin the concept of this equipment!”
The two argued back and forth without reaching any resolution.
Whenever Lizetta insisted on following the blueprint, Wayne would counter that the blueprint was flawed.
Eventually, Lizetta demanded that Aina remove Wayne from the development team.
(“Hmm… This is a problem.”)
Aina decided to consult with Laurent.
“Wayne and Lizetta are arguing?”
“Yes, about whether to build according to the blueprint or make modifications.”
“I see… So that’s what’s going on.”
“It seems like both of them have valid points. What should we do?”
(Lizetta’s ‘Integrated Design’ is at B-class. To integrate three people’s unique skills, there still seems to be some hurdle she needs to overcome.)
“Alright, I understand. Let’s all go watch Wayne work. Maybe we’ll figure something out.”
Laurent decided to observe Wayne’s work, bringing Lizetta and Aina along.
They let Wayne do his work as he wanted, following the original blueprint.
Lizetta, despite her dissatisfaction, watched Wayne’s work closely.
Wayne, looking slightly awkward, continued to carve the silver sword.
As they watched, Lizetta noticed that Wayne’s work was significantly different from what she had imagined.
(“Ah, I think I understand now.”)
The amount of cutting Wayne did in a single pass was more substantial than she had expected.
If he was removing that much material, it certainly seemed difficult to shape the sword according to the current blueprint.
Eventually, Wayne finished his work.
“See? When you carve it this way, it ends up in this shape… Hey!”
Before Wayne could finish speaking, Lizetta had already rushed out of the room.
Later, Lizetta rewrote the blueprint and brought it back to Wayne.
As Wayne looked at the revised blueprint, he gasped.
Just from looking at the blueprint, he could clearly visualize the final form of the sword.
(“It’s the first time I’ve been able to imagine it this vividly. This is the true value of ‘Integrated Design’…”)
When they started working based on the new blueprint, everything came together perfectly.

(“It seems Lizetta has overcome her barrier. Now, we can create the silver poison sword.”)
While “The Spirit Workshop” was resolving the conflict between Lizetta and Wayne, “The Dragon’s Ember” was also crafting equipment for “White Wolf,” aiming for a turnaround.
How could “White Wolf,” composed of adventurers ranked B-class or lower, possibly stand against “The Spirit Alliance,” led by S-class adventurer Jill Irwin?
(“There’s no use hesitating. We’re out of options. No matter how slim the chances, the only thing to do is to enhance Jamil and the others’ equipment as much as possible!”)
Raoul, who had not faced an opponent stronger than himself for a long time, desperately wracked his brain until he finally came up with a plan.
(“This is it. There’s no other choice!”)
Raoul’s plan was as follows:
The enhancement of the “Dragon’s Head Gauntlets” had reached its limit.
Therefore, he decided to abandon “Magical Craftsmanship” and instead leverage his remaining skill, “Silver Crafting” (A), to create silver daggers, longswords, armor, and bows, maximizing their compatibility through “Product Design” (A).
Raoul submitted this plan to Edgar, the guild leader.
“Hmm… Rejected.”
“What?”
Raoul couldn’t help but respond in a baffled tone to Edgar’s words.
“I said, rejected. Go back and redo it.”
“Wait a minute! What exactly is wrong with this plan?”
“What’s wrong? Seriously, do I have to spell it out for you?”
Edgar turned to face Raoul, looking exasperated, as if to say, “Do I really have to explain this?”
“Here. This part about ‘maximizing compatibility.’ What’s this supposed to mean?”
Edgar tapped the paper with his pen as he spoke.
“If you do something like that, the costs will skyrocket, right? As the guild leader, there’s no way I can approve a product with such a low profit margin.”
“Budget? You’re talking about the budget? This isn’t the time to be worrying about that! We need to strengthen ‘White Wolf’ as much as possible right now!”
“Regardless, it’s rejected. Go and rewrite it immediately.”
“What the hell—?”
“Now, now…”
Just as Raoul was about to lunge at Edgar, Charles stepped in.
“The guild is in a tough spot right now, so we all need to work together, right?”
“Tch…”
After that, Charles began to guide Raoul in revising his plan.
However, rather than genuinely collaborating or combining their strengths, it turned into a simple watering-down of Raoul’s proposal.
While Raoul’s plan was being rendered powerless, Edgar was pouring the guild’s budget into his own project, the “Black Bow Mk II.”
(Alright. If this succeeds, all the credit will be mine. And if it fails, I’ll just blame Raoul.)
With his position as guild leader becoming increasingly unstable, Edgar couldn’t afford to let anyone else earn more credit than he did.
For that reason, he needed to create a pretext to expel Raoul, someone more capable than him, if it came down to it.
Under a boss like Edgar, even the most talented subordinates are doomed to be undermined.
