Chapter 19.1 Quest and Insider
When Laurent woke up, exactly 24 hours had passed since he returned to the city.
It always felt like this when he returned from the dungeon.
He had slept soundly for a whole day.
Laurent got up from bed, stretching his stiff muscles from oversleeping.
He had to hurry and finish his tasks.
There was no time to dive back into the dungeon again.
Laurent decided to stop by the workshop first after leaving his home.
He was worried if Ranju and the others were managing well in his absence.
When Laurent visited the workshop, the day’s production activities had already begun.
The workers were diligently working on their tasks in their respective positions.
It had been three days since Laurent last visited the workshop, but everything seemed unchanged.
Laurent checked the workshop’s inventory, equipment, and documents, but he couldn’t find anything suspicious.
The inventory of raw materials and products was neatly organized, making it easy to see how much was left, and all equipment was stored in appropriate places for easy access when needed.
Every process was efficient, from procurement to production to shipping, all carried out systematically.
(As expected of Ranju. The management is impeccable.)
By the time Laurent finished all the checks, Ranju arrived.
“Welcome back, Laurent-san.”
“I’m back. Looks like the workshop is doing well.”
With only brief greetings, the two entered the meeting room and began their discussion.
“Was there any change while I was away?”
“No, everything is proceeding smoothly as planned.”
“And what about the progress on the Charl?”
“It’s going well. It should be completed by tomorrow.”
“I see.”
“Finally, the original weapon will be completed.”
“Yeah.”
“And there’s a letter from Claria at the Quest Reception.”
“Ah, it’s here. Show me.”
Laurent opened the envelope from Claria and took out the documents inside.
Inside were details about quests tailored for archers, support mages, and healers.
“All right. Just as ordered. If they clear this, it will further contribute to their growth.”
The next day arrived, and it was time for the second dungeon exploration.
When Laurent arrived at the entrance of the dungeon, the members of the team had already gathered.
“Laurent-san, the team is fully assembled,” Monica reported upon seeing Laurent.
“I see. Alright, everyone listen up. I’m going to explain about today’s dungeon exploration. This time, we’re aiming to clear the quest,” Laurent announced.
Upon hearing this, Monica, Shaqma, and Euphene all became visibly tense.
Unlike previous team actions, the true value of each individual’s profession would be tested on a personal level.
“Furthermore, Monica, Shaqma, and Euphene, I’ll set individual tasks and goals for each of you. Let’s start with Monica.”
“Yes!”
“Last time, it was only about reducing the enemy forces before close combat and intercepting aerial threats. But this time, I’m adding more requirements.”
“More requirements…?” Monica queried.
“When encountering enemies, you must defeat the strongest monster every time. Also, you must defeat at least 10 monsters each time.”
Monica felt a tightening sensation in her chest.
(The pressure just increased by a notch.)
The other members of the team also swallowed nervously at Laurent’s demanding instructions.
Defeating at least 10 monsters in one encounter, and in order of strength, would be a challenge that no archer in this town could easily accomplish.
“Next, Shaqma. Your goal is to use three or more support spells in a single battle.”
“Three or more…?”
“Of course, you mustn’t prolong the battle or exhaust the team.”
(Using three or more spells requires a considerable increase in decision-making speed compared to before.)
Shaqma’s expression turned serious.
“Lastly, Euphene. Your goal is to eliminate the use of healing items by the team during combat.”
“…Eliminate?”
Currently, Euphene was only using single-target healing magic to heal injured members.
Single-target healing magic couldn’t cover all injured members during combat.
Those who couldn’t be healed in time by Euphene’s magic were supplementing by drinking potions during breaks in combat.
(If I have to cover the entire team without using potions… single-target healing magic won’t be enough. I’ll need to use ‘Area Healing Magic’. Even though the accuracy of Area Healing Magic hasn’t stabilized yet…)
“Of course, I understand that these goals are very high and demanding. They won’t be easy to achieve. However, I believe that you can all reach them.”
Laurent succinctly stated goals and tasks for the other members besides the three.
While not as stringent as the three, he still demanded a higher standard of quality than last time.
For members of the melee combat team with relatively high defense, they were equipped with shields.
This was because the main attack methods of this team were archer’s shooting and support magic.
As Laurent finished conveying tasks and goals to all members of the team, Ranju and Charl, accompanied by an item-holding soldier, arrived.
“Oh, it seems they’ve arrived. Monica, Shaqma, Euphene. I have a special gift for you.”
“A gift?”
The item-holding soldier brought by Ranju took out a silver bow, silver armor, and a silver staff from the bag.
“Monica, this is the ‘Silver Iron-Breaker Bow’. It’s a weapon made specifically for you.”
“A weapon made specifically for me…”
It was a silver bow and arrow made using silverwork techniques.
While its design closely resembled the ‘Iron-Breaker Bow’, being made of silver, it was meticulously crafted beyond comparison.
“Go ahead, try it on.”
After receiving the ‘Silver Iron-Breaker Bow’, Monica aimed it and tested its feel.
(Heavier than the ‘Iron-Breaker Bow’, but it fits well.)
