A Kansai Native Encounters the Fourth Heroine.
“You’re dead, punk! You’ll learn what happens when you mess with our group—Shien!”
“Never heard of Shien or whatever ‘pien’ nonsense that is. Just get on with it—I’m getting bored.”
…A semi-gangster crew? Didn’t know those existed around here. And honestly, throwing out some random team name doesn’t scare me at all. These days, who’d actually go “pien” just because someone drops a group name? Well… I guess it might make someone look dangerous. Maybe.
“Uraaah! Space out and you’re dead!!”
Whoops—lost in thought, and one of them lunged at me. But man, that wind-up is huge. It’d hurt if it landed, sure. Still, with Tennouji’s physical ability and dynamic vision… it’s like watching a butterfly land. There—dodge, grab the arm, and using the motion of a single-shoulder throw, I hurl the first guy into the pond. A satisfying splash echoes as he hits the water.
“Hey!? You bastard!!”
Oh. This one’s stance is tighter. But… doesn’t look like he’s trained in boxing. He throws a jab with a sharp “shh” sound, but… I can read it clear as day. Slip aside, seize the wrist, spin him around—
“Whoa!? Wh-whoaaaa!!”
“Off you go.”
I release him. A weird “Ubuh!?” yelp escapes as two splashes ring out in succession. Ah—he collided with the first guy trying to climb out and knocked him right back in. They really love swimming, huh?
“You little—!! I’ll kill you!”
This one seems to know a thing or two about fighting. But Tennouji’s a veteran of a hundred battles himself—though that did land him in Mikage-san’s care more than once. Still, this guy’s no match either… Maybe I’ll let him taste a little pain. Alright then—I deliberately step inside as he swings, dodging while closing the distance. I clench my fist. We’re practically chest-to-chest now. At this range, all he can manage is a knee, probably.
I position my fist an inch from his stomach…
“Hmph!”
“Gaaah!?”
He flies backward. I tried that one-inch punch I read about once. Whoa—this is seriously useful! Perfect for emergencies. Experiment successful. The guy rises unsteadily, clutching his gut and retching… then pulls something from his pocket. A dull glint— a knife.
“Bastard… don’t underestimate Shien… don’t underestimate me… I’ll kill you…!”
“Hey, man. Pulling that out… changes everything. I won’t hold back anymore.”
“Guh… c-cold… Hey, wait! That’s bad!”
“Shut up! You looked down on me!!! I’m gonna kill you!!”
“Pulling a blade in a fight means there’s no going easy, you know?”
“Heh… scared now? Too late. I can’t forgive you…! Gotta kill at least one person to keep face, right!?”
“Face or whatever—I don’t care. What, you gonna go triple speed or something?”
I advance with the leisurely stride of someone out for a stroll. “H-hey!” one of the guys climbing from the pond calls, but I ignore him and stop right in front of the knife-wielder.
“Huh?”
“Come on, stab already—or not.”
“Wha—!? Ow ow ow ow!!”
“Gotcha. There, knife dropped. Now cool that hot head of yours. Off you go.”
“Whaaa—!?”
Splash. All three neutralized, shivering in the freezing water. By then, someone must have heard the commotion and called it in—several patrol cars pulled up at the park entrance.
“Hey! You there! What’s going on!?”
“Police! Stay calm and don’t move!”
“Shit!? Run!!”
“Dammit! The girl!?”
“Forget her!! Achoo!!”
The punks scattered. That sneeze… sounds awfully familiar somehow…
“Stop right there! What are you doing!? Tennouji-kun!?”
“Ah, figures it’s you, Mikage-san. Evening.”
“You were fighting again!? I thought you’d turned over a new leaf!”
“N-no, wait, there’s a reason for this…”
“P-please wait!”
Finally, the young lady I’d nearly forgotten about spoke up and stepped into the streetlight’s glow.
***
“I see… so that’s what happened. I’m sorry, Tennouji-kun.”
“Nah, it’s my usual bad karma catching up.”
Thanks to the girl explaining everything, it was ruled legitimate self-defense—no charges. Really saved me there.
“So, what now? We can give you a ride home in the patrol car…”
“No, thank you… someone should be coming for me…”
“Young laaaaaadyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!”
So loud!? What the—!? A white-haired gentleman taller than me literally flew toward us.
“Sebas! Over here!”
“Ah, looks like you’ll be fine then. Tennouji-kun?”
“My place is right nearby…”
“Got it. Good to know! I’ll go chase those escapees. Shien’s been a troublesome semi-gangster group lately—stay alert. We’ll step up patrols around here.”
“Appreciate it.”
Mikage-san drove off. So they really are a nasty bunch. Might’ve bitten off more than I can chew by throwing my name around.
“U-um… Tennouji-sama…”
“Tennouji-sama!?”
“Ah, pardon me… I remembered you introducing yourself to those ruffians earlier… I am Harumiya. Harumiya Sakura… Truly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving me.”
…No way. I suspected, but… it’s really her—the new heroine from Netorare Hazard Plus that I saw in the dream. Harumiya Sakura in the flesh… Talk about an early debut.
“Once again, I am Tennouji Daiki.”
“Hoh. Quite composed for one so young.”
Hey, old man—you just said “brat,” didn’t you? Totally looking down on me.
“Sebas?”
“My apologies. I am called Sebas, the young lady’s butler.”
Sebas as in Sebastian? Classic game world logic—a conglomerate heiress naturally comes with a butler.
“Pleasure.”
“KAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatsu!!!”
“!?”
Your voice is way too loud!! What if someone calls the cops again!?
“Pardon. I have yet to reach sixty, after all.”
“S-sorry about that.”
“Once more, Tennouji-sama… thank you truly for your aid. I do not know how to properly repay—”
“Nah, no need for thanks… You’re unhurt and didn’t get taken, right? Why were they after you anyway?”
“I… truly have no idea…”
Could be Miyanosaka pulling strings for an NTR route, but no proof. They did mention a reward.
“Those guys were talking about payment. Someone might be targeting you. Harumiya-san—uh, have Sebas-san keep a close watch, alright?”
“This Sebas… an unforgivable lapse! Losing sight of the young lady in her moment of crisis!”
…Is this butler gonna be okay? I half-expect him to whip out steel wires and dice enemies like a certain famous one… No, that’s overkill. Butlers just give off that vibe to me.
“Well, I’m heading home. Take care on the way back, Harumiya-san.”
“No worries. The car is waiting at the entrance. Please return without concern.”
He’s basically telling me to scram. Fine, I’m going.
“Tennouji-sama. I truly wish to thank you properly someday. Might I ask for some of your time in the future?”
“No, really—no thanks needed. More importantly, stay vigilant for a while. Being an heiress means plenty of enemies, right? Be careful.”
“Ah…!”
“You there! Do not touch the young lady’s head so casually!”
“S-sorry…”
“N-no… it’s… fine…”
Out of habit, I ended up patting her head like I do with Rinako. Her hair felt like silk—seriously, what is that? Do heiresses get custom hair or something? Reddish tint is rare too. Half or quarter foreign blood? Her eyes are a lighter shade as well. Not that I’m prying.
“…Achoo!”
Damn! Jogging clothes in this cold—I’m freezing! Body’s completely chilled… Gotta get home and take a hot shower or I’m done for.
“W-well, I’ll catch a cold if I stay, so I’m off. Bye!”
“Ah!? Tennouji-sama!? Please wait!”
I didn’t need repayment—I was just too cold to stick around. Ignoring her calls, I bolted straight home.
God… you’re moving way too fast. Already running into Harumiya Sakura…? Looks like things are about to get seriously complicated again. And on the very first days of the new semester, no less.
“Achoo!! Damn… I might’ve caught a cold…”
More pressing than that, I need to worry about my own health right now…
