Chapter 31: S-Class Beauty (Rin) Begins to Realize
“Akasaki, you don’t seem to be feeling well. Are you okay?”
Yuki asked with concern as Haruya sipped water at his desk on a Monday morning.
On the day they were caught in a sudden rainstorm, Haruya got a cold just like Rin did.
Although his condition wasn’t great, it wasn’t the worst either. He had taken cold medicine and so his temperature was around normal now.
Besides, if he had a fever, he would have stayed home from school instead.
However, because his nose was still stuffy, Haruya couldn’t help but grimace when he breathed through it.
“I’m managing somehow.”
“You sound like you have a stuffy nose. Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m sure.”
“Okay, that’s good. Could it be because of that rain on Friday?”
“…”
Haruya turned his face away, realizing that Yuki had hit the nail on the head.
“Well, I thought it would stop soon, but that rain just didn’t stop.”
“Yeah.”
“Make sure to have a foldable umbrella on hand from now on, okay?”
“…I’ll consider it.”
If he had a folding umbrella, he could have been prepared for the sudden rain and avoided catching a cold.
However, Haruya had found a place to take shelter from the rain, so he couldn’t be faulted for that. So why did he still catch a cold despite that?
The reason was simple: he ran home in the rain just like Rin did because the rain didn’t stop for a while. Basically it was entirely his own fault that he caught a cold.
Yuki didn’t want to talk too much with Haruya, who wasn’t feeling well, so he simply wished him a speedy recovery and left his desk.

It’s the third period of the day. It’s time for physical education.
This semester, the first-year boys are playing badminton while the girls are playing basketball.
Since students can watch the opposite sex they are interested in or fond of through the net, physical education classes are lively and are full of charms and excitements for both boys and girls.
There are also many students who simply enjoy physical education, so there are likely very few students who actually feel depressed about it.
However, at this moment, Haruya’s mood can be described as “the worst.” Haruya is not feeling well, so he is watching the class instead of participating, but he doesn’t have a long-sleeved jersey.
As a result, he is forced to wear short sleeves, which has dampened his spirits.
“It’s rare to see Akasaki in short sleeves.”
“Well, yeah.”
“Aren’t you feeling cold?”
“It’s just your imagination.”
This season is comfortable and warm, so whether one wears long sleeves or short sleeves is a matter of personal preference.
However, Haruya wanted to wear long sleeves at this time because he was feeling sick. But since Yuki asked, he shook his head in denial.
(If only I hadn’t lent her my jersey, I wouldn’t be in this situation.)
Haruya ended up wearing short sleeves because he lent Rin his jersey. In fact, the jersey is as good as given away since there is no prospect of returning it, or even meeting him even meeting her again.
Despite feeling cold, Haruya quietly watched the class while Yuki lightly teased him.

While Haruya was watching the class, or rather, pretending to sleep out of boredom, the girls who were playing basketball as part of the lesson were fixated on Kazuyoshi Aira, who was playing badminton during the break.
Three of the girls, Sara, Yuna, and Rin, who were all classed as S-class beauties, showed no interest in the popular and handsome Kazuyoshi Aira.
“Aira is really popular, isn’t he?”
In a flat voice with no intonation, Yuna asked.
“Yes, he is. He’s always popular with girls.”
“Um… Sara, what do you think of Aira?”
“He’s not bad, but I find someone else more attractive,” Sara said, without saying who.
“I agree. That person is more preferable.”
Yuna nodded while blushing slightly. After a brief silence, Rin was pressured by Sara and Yuna’s silent questioning of “What about Rin?”
“Well, I, I feel the same way…”
“Rin-chan feels the same way too, right? Ah, I really want to find the guys we’re looking for soon!”
“…Yes.”
Though they haven’t yet discovered the identity of the “guys they’re looking for,” the three girls talk endlessly about it, not giving Kazuyoshi Aira a second thought.
However, Rin seems somewhat absent-minded.
“What’s wrong, Rin? You’ve been staring off into space. Are you still not feeling well? Maybe you haven’t really recovered from your cold?”
Thanks to Sara and Yuna’s care, Rin had fully recovered by Sunday and was full of energy. However, seeing Rin staring at one spot, Yuna couldn’t help but feel suspicious.
When Yuna follows Rin’s gaze, she sees a male student.
“A-Akasaki…hmm?”
For a moment, Yuna can’t recall who Rin is referring to.
“What’s wrong with him? Does Rin-chan find him interesting?”
“No, it’s probably just my imagination…It’s just that he’s not wearing his jersey.”
It’s not exactly the season for long sleeves, but what caught Rin’s attention was the sight of Haruya sitting hunched over. It reminded Rin of how that person looked on that rainy Friday, sitting sheltered from the rain.
“Isn’t that normal? It’s spring now, after all. It’s not winter.”
“That’s right, but Rin-chan, why is your face all red, are you not feeling well?”
Despite their reassurance, Rin’s heart rate had quickened slightly.
(…There’s no way. What’s wrong with me?)
