Chapter 29: S-Class Beauty (Rin) Down with a Cold
While being hit by the rain, Rin returned home and the next day, Saturday, she had caught a cold.
“Ah… I have a fever. This is bad,” she said, feeling a sense of fatigue in her heated body.
Without measuring her temperature, she was confident that her body temperature was higher than normal.
Since it was Saturday, the only relief was that she didn’t have to go to school.
(Perhaps I pushed myself too hard yesterday…)
As Rin’s mind wandered, she recalled yesterday’s events.
Despite having no particular reason to leave, she had fled from him, feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed.
Feeling sorry and pathetic for catching a cold and being hit by rain for about 20 minutes on the way home, Rin looked at the wall of her room and noticed “Haruya’s jersey.”
(Hehe… that person was cute and cool.)
Although she didn’t really like his experience with women.
Rin muttered to herself and lay down on her bed.
Taking one of the vintage cushions that were lined up around her pillow, Rin squeezed it tightly against her mouth.
Without even realizing it, her mouth relaxed. There was no need to hide her feelings since no one was currently in the house.
The Kohinata family consisted only of Rin, her parents.
Since both of her parents worked, they often left early in the morning and returned in the evening and night, respectively.
Today, Rin had woken up early in the morning and had fallen back asleep, so her parents probably didn’t want to wake her up.
“Ugh, my body is still hot…”
As Rin pouted alone and rested her small body on the bed, her smartphone made a small sound, indicating that she had received a message from someone.
Rin picked up her phone and checked the message.
(Yuna-rin): “Rin, it seems like you’ve caught a cold. Can I come visit you?”
(Sara-chin): “Rin-chan, did you really catch a cold!? I’ll come over right away!”
Rin’s cherry blossom-colored eyes were fixed on the group chat screen.
The group chat consisted of only the three “S-class beauties” from her class who were also her closest friends: Sara, Yuna, and her, Rin.
(…How did Yuna-rin know I caught a cold!?)
As Rin’s sluggish brain tried to make sense of it all, Yuna replied ahead of her with an explanation.
(Yuna-rin): “Earlier, Rin’s mom texted me and asked if I could take care of her since Rin might have caught a cold.”
Rin’s spine shuddered with a jolt as she checked the message.
She had only just realized she had caught a cold upon waking up earlier today.
Her mother, who had gone to work early in the morning, had noticed her daughter’s condition just by seeing her sleeping face.
Rin couldn’t help but shudder at her mother’s observational skills.
Although it was true that Rin had caught a cold, her condition was not serious enough to warrant a visit from her friends.
She only had a stuffy nose and a little fatigue. Rin felt bad and wanted to refuse their offer to visit, but…
(Yuna-rin): “By the way, I’ve already bought a lot of things for you, so it would be a shame if you refused.”
Yuna knew Rin very well.
Rin took a deep breath and messaged back with just, “I’m sorry. I caught a cold! I know it’s a bother, but please come visit me.”
The group chat screen then continued on.
(Sara-chin) “Um, I haven’t received any message from Rin-chan’s mother…”
(Yuna-rin) “In your case, Sara, you tend to overreact and are clumsy, so I think her mother left it to me.”
(Sara-chin) “I see… Isn’t that harsh!?”
(Yuna-rin) “But Sara, don’t you always call your helpers or servants? Rin might have trouble with your exaggerated reaction, you know.”
(Sara-chin) “… A-anyway, I’m also heading to Rin-chan’s place!”
Feeling a bit punished, Sara sent a sticker with a monster burning with indeterminate fighting spirit.
It was around 1:30 pm, in the early afternoon, and it seemed that two of the S-class beauties were going to visit Rin to offer their get-well wishes.
And then, Rin talked about the man she met yesterday, Haruya.
(…It’s not like he’s my “destiny,” but I met a man I need to find again.)
Thinking, she looked at the can of cocoa Haruya treated her and his jersey, with moist eyes.
