Chapter 24: Yuna’s Resolution (End of Yuna Part)
Yuna’s heart wouldn’t calm down, its pounding reverberating in her chest. The rush of exhilaration refused to subside, as if it had taken permanent residence in her body. Her entire being was suffused with heat, and her heartbeat raced even faster.
After meeting Haruya and returning home, Yuna threw herself onto her immaculate bed. The sensation was palpable, and she keenly felt it in every fiber of her being.
“I can’t believe it,” she murmured softly, her heart still throbbing, though her face betrayed no emotion.
She pressed her slightly flushed cheeks against the softness of her pillow.
She had boasted to Sara and Rin about believing in fate, but she never expected herself that she would reunite with Haruya so soon. As she recalled his face, she traced her lips with her fingers, the hint of a smile curving her lips in a faint arc.
“Judging from his uniform and his reaction…” She murmured in a calm, composed tone.
“Well, speaking of that… You should be careful not to stop by in your school uniform, you know,” Yuna’s words at that time were casual, but there was an unmistakable edge beneath them.
The requirement of not stopping by in their uniforms could only apply if Haruya and Yuna attended the same high school.
Her heart pounded loudly in her chest, a secret she kept to herself.
Now that she was alone in the room, the tension that she had earlier dissipated from into the air.
“I hope he didn’t notice… probably not, though,” Yuna fretted belatedly. She wondered if her true feelings had been written all over her face when she saw Haruya at the drugstore. Her excitement at the unexpected encounter may have been too obvious, and she couldn’t help but worry.
“Moreover… we’re in the same high school,” Yuna deduced, realizing that Haruya must be in the same grade as her, considering he was only one year younger.
(…Can this really happen in real life?)
Yuna recalled what Sara had told her about fate and destiny, and couldn’t help but feel like she was living in a “shoujo manga,” something she had thought would have never happened in reality. But now that she was experiencing it herself, she couldn’t help but feel flustered.
“Well, in my case, it’s not exactly ‘love’ like Sara, but more like my first guy friend,” Yuna pouted, turning her face away.
However, she soon realized that pretending in an empty space was futile. She sniffed and gave herself a light slap on the head, thinking, “What am I even doing?” It didn’t take long for her to realize that she was behaving out of character and being too obvious about her feelings.
“Uu…”
Despite her attempts to calm down, Yuna’s body grew warm again. She sat up from her bed and picked up a particular shoujo manga – the same manga that had led to her fateful encounter with Haruya. It was the last copy in stock, and Haruya had kindly let her have it.
“…I’m being cheeky, for God’s sake.”
Haruya probably had no idea about Yuna’s current feelings and was happily heading home. For Yuna, who is usually cool and composed, this was something that shook her heart, and she couldn’t help but feel mischievous about it.
(…I want to surprise him. I want him to taste my feelings and my fluttering heart.)
Just the thought of Haruya’s eyes widening with surprise made Yuna’s lips relax into a slight smile.
(…He probably doesn’t even know we go to the same high school. I’ll go meet him myself…)
Yuna’s expression tightened as she thought this, feeling a mix of embarrassment and determination. Her sharp blue eyes were filled with resolve, as if saying, “I will definitely find him.”
