Chapter 11: “Rumors” About S-Class Beauty (End of Sara Part)
Haruya and Yuki had grown closer since the badminton incident. They had progressed from casual acquaintances to occasional friends.
Haruya had trouble remembering Yuki’s name at first, but he soon learned and now properly remembers it.
“Hey, Akasaki. Have you heard the latest rumor?”
“About what, Kazemiya?”
Haruya sounded bored even though he asked “about what?” He had a simple and honest reason for his lack of interest: most of the topics Yuki brought up didn’t interest him at all.
(I can tell by Kazemiya’s smile… It’s probably something that won’t matter much to me at all.)
Yuki sensed that Haruya was a bit distant, but he didn’t realize how much.
The other boys in the class found it amusing that Haruya, who was indifferent to the topics that everyone else was excited about, was not curious about the rumor.
Yuki leaned in and whispered,
“You know one of the S-class beauties, Himekawa-san? She has a crush on someone… and he might be from our school.”
“I’ve heard enough of those rumors…”
“It’s not just a ‘rumor,’ it’s ‘Aira.’ That’s what people are saying.”
“Hey, were you eavesdropping on someone else’s conversation?”
“You’re so cold… But I know you’re just tsundere, so you’re cute, Akasaki.”
“Who’s a tsundere?!”
Haruya scowled a bit, but Yuki laughed brightly. Haruya acted like he didn’t care, but he was actually a little curious about the topic. Yuki wasn’t completely wrong about him, and Haruya couldn’t deny it strongly.
(…As a shoujo manga fan, I can’t ignore her search for her ‘fated partner’.)
Haruya’s love for shoujo manga was his secret that he never shared with anyone. He didn’t admit it openly, but he quietly cheered for that girl in his heart.
“It’s really amazing, isn’t it… But anyway,”
“Why don’t you confess to her, Kazemiya? Maybe you’re her ‘fated person’.”
“What? Me? No way, that’s impossible.”
“Yeah, you’re right. That’s impossible.”
“Hey, that’s mean!”
Haruya teased Yuki as if he was getting back at him for calling him a tsundere or something.
Yuki shrugged it off and changed the topic with,
“Anyway… forget about me, Himekawa is apparently watching all the students in school.”
“Where did you get that from? You didn’t ask her yourself, did you?”
“Well, no… but Himekawa is just so easy to read, don’t you think?”
“I don’t know… I’m sorry, but I haven’t even learned the names of the girls in our class yet. I wouldn’t even notice such a thing.”
Haruya was being honest. He couldn’t even picture what Himekawa looked like, who had been the subject of their conversation for a while now. He only had a vague impression of a shoujo manga heroine.
“I don’t get it… but I guess that’s just how you are, Akasaki.”
“…”
Haruya had no comeback for that, as it was true. He looked annoyed, and Yuki said sorry before going on,
“But, you know, there are a lot of guys who confess and get rejected because they hoped they were ‘the one’ for her.”
“That’s so naive…”
Haruya thought that those guys were too naive, just like when they messed up in PE.
He had an expression that said, “I can’t deal with this.”
“So I thought… maybe you should give it a shot too, Akasaki?”
“How did you even come to that conclusion?”
“Haha, I’m kidding, although… I’m curious who Himekawa’s ‘fated partner’ is.”
“…”
Haruya didn’t say anything and wondered to himself,
(It’s probably… or rather, definitely, some good-looking guy like Aira.)
He sighed softly as he thought that.
♦︎♢♦︎
While Haruya and Yuki were chatting in the corner of the classroom…
“Sara-chin, are you okay? There are rumors going around that things aren’t going well.”
“I heard that more guys have been confessing to you lately, so I’m concerned too.”
“…ugh, am I that obvious?”
“Well, you know…”
“Yeah, I suppose so.”
At the same time, in the girls’ restroom on the first floor, the S-class beauties were surrounding Sara and listening to her woes. Yuna and Rin were comforting her.
“So, have you found your ‘destined one’ yet, Sara-chin?”
“No…I haven’t seen anyone who matches that criteria.”
“Maybe you should try looking at other schools?”
Yuna calmly suggested while stroking her chin. Sara didn’t like that idea and sighed with a slump of her shoulders.
“I thought he went to this school, the one who wore that jersey…”
“Don’t lose hope yet, Sara-chin! We haven’t looked at every student in this school, have we?”
“Y-yeah.”
“You’ll find him, I’m sure!”
Rin, the shortest among them, cheered up the anxious Sara, and Yuna smiled as she saw them.
“Well, he could still be in this school.”
“I wonder where Sara-chin’s fated one is. I wish I could have a fateful encounter like that too. How about you, Yuna-rin?”
“I do want to meet someone like that, but not as much as you, Rin.”
“Ha, you always say that. Maybe you’re the one who fantasizes about it the most, Yuna-rin?”
“There’s no way.”
Yuna said it with cool confidence, letting
her long black hair sway down her back.
Sara and Rin giggled, agreeing with each other that Yuna was probably just as interested in finding her own “fated one.”
