Chapter 07: Shopping with the S-Class Beauty
“So, you were looking for clothes earlier, right?”
“Uh… yeah…”
Haruya had planned to say goodbye to Sara after they finished their meal and paid the bill, but she stopped him.
Sara’s face was still flushed, and her amber eyes looked a bit sad.
Haruya felt guilty for turning down her offer after she had paid for him, so he gave a vague answer.
“Um, I want to buy some clothes too. Can we go shopping together?”
“Sure, that’s fine.”
Sara smiled brightly as she swayed her red and black checkered skirt. She seemed happy to stay with Haruya.
“Let’s go then.”
“Yeah… and, thank you so much for paying for me earlier.”
“No, no, it’s fine. I had to do it or I wouldn’t feel good.”
Sara lifted her right arm and showed off her not-so-muscular biceps. She was so friendly and sweet that Haruya couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey, don’t laugh at me, okay?”
“Sorry, it’s just… cute.”
Her muscles were too weak to brag about them like that, which made Haruya burst into laughter.
“…So, you’re just going to laugh at me?”
Haruya couldn’t stop laughing, and Sara’s face turned redder and she became quieter.
(Oh no… I think I hurt her feelings.)
Haruya realized his mistake and quickly tried to apologize, but Sara spoke before he could.
“S-should we go now?”
“Ah, yes.”
Haruya was confused by the sudden change in the mood, but he noticed that Sara’s ears were bright red and she was barely talking to him along the walk.
In the awkward silence, they went back to the clothing store they had visited before and Sara looked around the shop with shining eyes.
Haruya couldn’t help but think that she looked like a kid, but he also felt relieved.
(I’m glad she’s not mad at me.)
The walk to the clothing store had felt like an eternity, and the atmosphere was unbearable.
So Haruya was happy that Sara was acting like herself again.
He then said in a casual tone,
“I’ll go check out the men’s section.”
“Okay, I’ll go to the women’s section then.”
They parted ways to look for the items they wanted to buy for about half an hour.
(I’m lucky I got a good deal today…)
As he was thinking that…
“Hu, hununu—”
Haruya had paid for his items and was putting them in a shopping bag when he saw Sara walking like a robot.
She had a lot of clothes stuffed in an eco-bag that looked very heavy.
(…She paid for my lunch, so I can’t just ignore her now…)
Haruya felt sorry for her and decided to help her out.
“Um, do you need some help with those?”
Haruya asked, and Sara widened her amber eyes and hesitated.
“N-no, it’s okay. I can manage.”
But she clearly couldn’t manage. Her arms were trembling, and her movements showed her clumsiness.
“Come on, let me help you. It’s the least I can do for your treat earlier.”
“But I don’t want to bother you any more.”
She seemed to feel guilty.
When it comes to being helped or having someone reach out to you, it’s undoubtedly Sara’s kindness that prevails, but it doesn’t necessarily calm Haruya’s feelings.
“Well, how about this? I want to take care of you because I want to. Please let me carry your luggage not for your sake, but for my own.”
Haruya said that without thinking. It sounded cheesy and embarrassing, like something from a romance manga.
But Sara’s face turned red. She was touched by his honesty.
She looked at him with her amber eyes and said,
“Um, if that’s how you feel, then thank you.”
“Oh, alright…”
Haruya blushed as he took her bags and carried them with his own.
“Um, I’ll call a car, so you can wait outside with me.”
“Sure.”
By the way, the bags Sara bought were reasonably heavy for a woman to carry, but it didn’t bother Haruya at all.
Since he didn’t know which exit Sara’s ride would be coming from, he followed her lead and walked with her until they reached the west exit.
“Well, then… this is where we part. Thank you so much!”
Sara bowed politely and Haruya waved back, saying, “No, thank you!”
They smiled at each other, feeling a connection.
That was the end of their encounter.
Haruya thought he would never see her again, but he was wrong. He would find out later how wrong he was.
♦︎♢♦︎
Inside a black luxury car, Sara was humming happily, “lalala♪”.
Her servant, who was driving the car, noticed her cheerful mood and asked her.
“Miss Sara, you seem very happy today. Did you enjoy shopping?”
“It wasn’t just shopping, it was a ‘wonderful encounter’.”
“Really? A man, perhaps?”
“Yes! He’s an amazing person who helped me with my bags, walked with me, and even said sweet things to me.”
“Um… Miss Sara, I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I heard you had a bad encounter last week. Are you sure this is okay?”
The servant was worried because Sara had been harassed by a creepy guy last week. He was just being cautious.
“That person who saved me last week is the same person I’m talking about now!”
“What!? How is that possible!?”
The servant was shocked, with his mouth open wide. He couldn’t believe it.
