Chapter 05: Encounter with the S Class Beauty
Time passed and Haruya found himself approaching the weekend.
(I think I’ll go buy some clothes today. I was satisfied with the manga I bought last week.)
He fixed his appearance in front of the mirror and contemplated adding some new clothes to his collection.
After enduring a tedious weekday at school, the weekend was heaven for Haruya.
(As I thought, living alone is the best. If I dressed up like this at home, my ‘sister’ would probably find it creepy and reject me…)
He mused to himself.
Haruya had actually started living alone since becoming a high school freshman this year.
The Akasaki family consisted of himself, his younger sister, mother, and father.
While his parents were kind and tolerant of his hobbies, his sister started showing rebellion towards him since she hit puberty.
(She used to be so cute and cuddly back then.)
He reminisced as he left his apartment, satisfied with his appearance.
♦︎♢♦︎
“As expected, it’s crowded on the weekends.”
Haruya grumbled as he pushed through the crowds on his way to the usual department store. With a wry smile on his face, he headed towards the “back route.”
However, just as he was about to turn onto a side street, his feet suddenly stopped.
(It’d be a pain if I got into trouble again…)
He thought, recalling what had happened exactly a week ago.
He remembered the incident from a week ago when he had seen a girl being hit on while he was taking the back route to the department store.
He tried to convince himself that this sort of thing wouldn’t happen to him again, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease.
(Ugh… but if I go the regular way, there will still be a lot of people.)
He sighed as he made his way through the bustling crowd.
As the buildings around him gradually drew closer, the department store loomed large in his field of vision.
Compared to the main road, there were fewer people around here, which provided a little bit of relief to him.
It took him several minutes to reach his destination, but he finally arrived at the department store with heavy steps.
Once he arrived at the department store, Haruya picked up the pace. Perhaps because he was used to it, he seamlessly followed the flow of people up to the second floor.
Haruya was heading towards a trendy clothing store that catered to both men and women. As he browsed the men’s section, he thought,
(I want some flashy clothes. Yeah, something flashy.)
Just as he was silently repeating his desired item—
“Wa, wawa—”
—A girl with a pile of clothes in her arms tripped and fell on the floor in front of him.
She looked very girly and cute in a white shirt and a red and black plaid skirt. She wore a small black backpack that added some elegance to her outfit.
Haruya felt obliged to check on her since she had landed hyst right behind him.
He didn’t have any ulterior motive.
“Are you okay?”
He asked softly as he bent down. She lifted her head and turned to him. Haruya was about to offer his hand to help her up when he stopped.
He knew her face.
(Hold on, isn’t this the same girl…)
He was speechless when he saw her innocent face. It was the same girl who had been harassed a week ago.
Even though she had different clothes, her babyish face was unmistakable.
“Eh, y-you…?”
“Are you okay? Ah, yeah, I’m from that time!”
It seemed that Haruya wasn’t the only one who was surprised.
Sara’s face turned crimson as she stuttered in disbelief. Haruya was also baffled by the frozen Sara, but he quickly gathered the clothes that had fallen on the floor.
(… What a coincidence.)
Haruya thought to himself as he handed the clothes back to Sara.
(I should just act like nothing happened…)
He didn’t want to be mistaken for a stalker, as the situation was too convenient. Doubting the strange coincidence, Haruya tried to walk away.
But Sara grabbed his shirt and wouldn’t let him go.
“Please wait…I don’t want to be a rude person who doesn’t thank someone after being helped twice.”
She said in a soft voice with her amber eyes wet. He was going to say, “It was nothing,” but she beat him to it. With her earnest eyes looking at him, she said:
“Don’t make me a rude person… Is that too much to ask?”
Her voice, full of shyness, gently reached Haruya’s ears, while her teary eyes exerted an irresistible force. Haruya had planned to decline, but he ended up giving in to Sara’s insistence.
He sighed and nodded slowly.
His answer made her face even brighter, leaving Haruya at a loss for words.
“T-thank you very much!”
(However, this is so awkward…why is her face so red? Well, it’s certainly hot today…)
Haruya tried to rationalize, but it seemed like it would take some time for Sara’s flushed body to cool down.
