The Invincible Undefeated Divine Sword Master - Chapter 5
Brother and Sister
In order to respect Estark’s tradition, a duel was going to be held.
I went back to my room, where I was complained with sister, the one who suggested the duel.
“Ellen, why do you trouble me so much?”
“Because I want to be with you, Brother Licht.”
She said and jumped into my chest.
A flowery scent lingered my nose.
I stroke her dark hair, then I put my hands on her shoulders to keep my distance.
“Come on, don’t be a prude, it’s no big deal. It’s just brother-sister contact.”
“Your hug is so comforting you know?”
“I’ve heard that incest was very common in the Estark family a long time ago.”
“A long time ago, I suppose. Now it must be forbidden by family tradition.”
“The Estark Book of Household Rules, Article 45, Amendment 7, by St. John the Baptist, 699, forbids marriage between parents of the second degree.”
“Well, I didn’t know there was such a rule in the family tradition.”
It’s cute to see her intentionally turning off the lights, but she was a bad girl, so I flicked her head lightly.
“It hurts. Brother Licht.”
“Punishment, a hug is bad enough. If I’m really going to punish you, I would punish you lewdly. Like in a sensual novel.”
“Then, please punish me lewdly and violently,” she said as she pushed me down to my bed and made me lie down with her. This time I was going to seriously flick her head.
“It hurts, Brother Licht. Please forgive me.”
My sister gets teary-eyed and I felt sorry for her, so I stopped punishing her, but I gave her a word of warning.
“I won’t say it’s been done, but I don’t like the idea of you manipulating the family traditions to get me to fight in a duel.”
Ellen’s expression became really nervous.
“What are you talking about?”
“You know what I mean. It is true that there is a rule in the Estark family tradition to stop the banishment from a duel, but it does not apply to bastards.”
“…”
“How can you lie so clearly in that situation? You got some nerve.”
“…to protect you brother Licht”
“I really appreciate your kindness, but I don’t want my sister to lie to me.”
Then I hugged Ellen. A family hug. A hug between brother and sister.
“… It’s not fair. I can’t believe you’d be nice to me at a time like this.”
“If I do this, you won’t do anything reckless anymore.”
“…Yes. –How did you know I was lying by the way?”
“Ellen always twitches her nose every time she lies.”
Ellen hurriedly holds her own nose. Her face turns bright red, but she is a clever girl, she soon realize that it’s not true.
“Oh my God, Brother Licht!” She puffed out her cheeks, so I told her the truth.
“The nose is a joke. The real reason is I’ve memorized every Estark family rule.”
“No way!”
My sister was astonished.
“I know that Brother Licht has a great memory, but are you saying that you can remember all of those massive ancient documents?”
“Yeah.”
“I can’t believe it.”
“If you want, I can recite it to you. The Estark Book of Household Rules, Article VIII, Amendment 7, written in Holy History 711. Those of the House of Estark will pay their debts. I repeat, the Estark will pay their debts.”
“…”
My sister was silenced. Ellen seemed to be astonished because not a single word I said was different from what is written in the book.
“…impressive, Brother Licht. You have the best memory in the three countries.”
“Thanks.”
“Then you will understand my intentions. I want you to fight Brother Marks and have him decide whether or not to banish you from the duel.”
“I can see that, indeed. I also know why Ellen would want to do that.”
“Because I want to be with you forever, Brother Licht.”
“I’m glad you feel that way.”
“But there’s a problem. You have to win the duel.”
“That’s going to be difficult. After all, I’m an incompetent bastard.”
“It’s a lie. Brother Licht is not incompetent. You can defeat Brother Marks with one hand.”
“You’re overestimating me.”
“Am I? I know that Brother Licht can pull off the divine Sword.”
“…”
“The only question is whether Brother Licht wants to win or not. I have a feeling that you will deliberately choose to lose and be expelled.”
“…”
My younger sister Ellen leaked a sad expression in her face.
It was true, I couldn’t say anything more to her.
I hugged my sister one more time and waited for the clock tower bell to ring.
The noon bell rang. The duel would begin at one o’clock in the afternoon, so I would have to get ready.
Ellen said nothing more, and helped me prepare for the duel.
