Chapter 07: First Battle
“―It’s massive!?”
As I rushed out eagerly, I found a black wolf-like yokai standing there.
It was an enormous creature, at least four meters tall, exuding an overwhelming presence and a menacing aura. It glared at me, seemingly wary of my sudden appearance.
“Who’s there—wait, a kid?!”
I glanced at the people lying on the ground.
There were three of them. Two were seriously injured and lying down, while a man holding a sword stood protectively in front of them, ready to confront the wolf.
“GRRRRR…”
The black wolf radiated a sinister energy from its body.
A ring-like object, made of connected magatamas, floated above its back, and red markings were etched on its black body, marking it as an entity from another dimension. It was clearly not in a sane state. Observing it closely, it seemed more wary of my sword than of me.
As I assessed the situation, the wolf slammed its front paw onto the ground and roared. The roar was so powerful it felt like it shook the entire space. In the next instant, something shifted.
“Danger!”
Instinct… no, more like primal survival instinct kicked in.
I instantly reinforced my body and dodged to the side, obeying the command to avoid death.
The wolf destroyed everything in its path as it charged back and forth. Trees and large rocks shattered like glass, making it easy to imagine the fate that awaited if I were hit.
“Why… is this child here?”
Kagura, who had followed me, murmured as she saw the wolf. Her obvious distress was concerning, but I didn’t have time to worry about that now.
The wolf was coming again.
It gathered power in its legs, aiming to kill me with its overwhelming strength.
“It’s heavy!”
The wolf charged faster than before.
With only a split second to react, I enhanced my physical abilities and fortified my defense, but the impact still sent me flying through the air.
A bad landing would probably mean death, and worse, the wolf would follow up with another attack.
As I looked, I saw the wolf gathering black flames on its back, ready to strike at me.
“Yomi, recite the prayer.”
At that moment, I heard my goddess’s voice.
Despite the distance, her voice was clear. I didn’t know any specific prayers to offer her, yet as I prayed, my mouth began to form the words unconsciously.
“I beseech you, Kagura of calamities… descend from Yomisaka, deliver punishment, consume curses and defilements—sing, yearn, and become empty, bringing forth…”
I paused. I didn’t know what power was needed in this situation, but I had to trust in her power.
“—the power of the glacier that steals life.”
As I dedicated the song to her, cold energy began to flow from my body.
It froze even the approaching black flames and extended towards the wolf.
“Grrrrr!”
The attack was unleashed again, even more powerful than before, melting the ice. Yet, I felt no fear. Confidence surged within me, telling me I could win.
Even though it was my first time using this power, I somehow knew how to wield it.
My sword acted as a catalyst, and as I channeled my spiritual energy, the power responded perfectly.
“Ice Shower!”
My spiritual energy transformed into ice and then into spears, just as I imagined.
As I swung my hand down, the spears rained down on the wolf, piercing and wounding it severely.
Despite the obvious fatal injury, I landed and felt a shift in my internal status.

There are a lot of additions here, but what is this?
The effect of adding attributes to spiritual power seems almost like a glitch, and even the strength of existence section looks odd. However, I can clearly feel that I’ve become stronger.
There are many questions, but worrying about them now won’t help. It looks like there is a time limit for this state.
“GRRROOOOAR!”
As I approached, the wolf emitted even more sinister energy and miasma than before.
It clearly recognized me as an enemy, baring its fangs with a sharp, murderous glare. At first, I would have been scared—but in my current state of omnipotence, I oddly felt no fear.
“Here I come—”
With no time to waste, I decided to finish it with a powerful move.
I imagined a gigantic fist.
As I channeled my spiritual energy, a huge arm appeared in the air.
“Get crushed!”
The attack from above dealt significant damage to the wolf, forcing it to the ground.
I then restrained the wolf with ice, rendering it immobile, and secured a nearly flawless victory.
“―Um, are you alright?”
“Y-Yeah—I’m fine, but who are you?”
“Um… before introducing myself, can I treat your companions?”
The man was stunned and asked about my identity, but I was more concerned about the people who were attacked by the wolf. One person was completely unconscious, and another had a missing arm, likely bitten off. They were in no condition to be left untreated.
“―By the divine will of Kamurogi and Kamurogi-no-Mikoto who reside in Takamagahara…”
I recited a general healing prayer commonly used in this world.
As I performed the healing technique, their wounds began to close rapidly, and even the missing arm started to regenerate.
“—What are you, really? You changed your appearance mid-air… Am I being tricked?”
“No, I’m human! Changed my appearance, what?”
“But you don’t look the same as when you first appeared.”
“…Huh?”
His words made me curious, so I checked my appearance. Sure enough, my clothes had changed.
I had been wearing the Shiranui family’s attire, but now I was in some kind of black outfit.
“Oh, you’re right.”
“You didn’t notice? Even your hair color has changed.”
“Really—no way.”
Looking up slightly, I saw my hair had turned the same translucent white as Kagura’s. My appearance really had changed. Shaken, I turned to face Kagura.
“…Is something wrong, Kagura?”
“Yomi, can you lift the curse on this child?”
“I can, but why?”
“This child isn’t usually this violent—please help.”
I didn’t fully understand her intentions, but Kagura wouldn’t say something like this without a reason. When I used spiritual sight on the wolf, I saw it was heavily cursed. I wasn’t sure what kind of curse it was, but it seemed as strong as the restraints on Kagura.
I had enough spiritual power to break it last time, but now I was running low and felt uncertain. Still, if it was a request from my goddess…
“Alright—I will fulfill your request as your priest.”
Refusing was not an option.
