Chapter 05: Her Loyalty Level’s Totally Maxed Out
“Hah!?”
“Oh, you’re awake. Feeling okay, Sasaki-san?”
The moment her eyes fluttered open, Sasaki-san shot upright from the park bench like she’d been launched by a spring.
Since she’d collapsed right in the middle of the street, we’d quickly carried her over to a bench in the nearby station plaza.
“Kujou-san…? Why are you… here…?”
Sasaki-san blinked in confusion, scanning her surroundings like she’d just woken up from some surreal dream.
Yeah. Something was definitely off.
“Wait, you seriously don’t remember? You screamed in the middle of the road and just straight-up fainted.”
“Me!? Screaming on the street!? There’s no way I—a proud student of Eio Girls’ High and captain of Rei-sama’s Royal Guard—would ever commit such a disgraceful act!”
“Saito, I brought a wet handkerchief—Oh! Sasaki-san’s awake. Are you feeling okay?”
“OgyyaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!! REI-SAMA’S ROCKIN’ A PURE, PRINCESSY, FULL-ON GRACEFUL LOOK AND IT’S KILLING MEEEEEEEEE!!”
thud
“…Round two.”
I let out a deep sigh, staring down at Sasaki-san, now passed out again.
Apparently, seeing Rei suddenly switch from her usual princely style to a hyper-girly one-piece had short-circuited her brain.
So that’s what she meant by Seiso Ochita…
Even though the term technically meant something very different,
I figured if I tried explaining the original meaning, I’d probably get reported to the authorities—
So I decided to let it slide.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
“I have brought great dishonor upon myself… Kana Sasaki offers her sincerest apologies…”
“I didn’t think it’d take three full resets just to have a normal conversation with you.”
At this point, I was genuinely starting to worry if Sasaki-san’s brain could survive any more fainting spells and memory wipes.
“I-I mean… I just never imagined Rei-sama would wear something like that…”
“Oh, right. I usually get too embarrassed, so even when the fan club girls begged me to try outfits like this, I always turned them down.”
“Exactly!! Kujou-sama, what kind of sorcery did you use on her!?”
“Eh? Uh… I just gave it to her as a present.”
“Well… if it’s something Saito wants, then… I don’t mind wearing something a little embarrassing like this. Especially since he said I looked cute.”
Rei replied with a soft, bashful smile—clearly flustered, but just as clearly happy.
“GEBWAHHHH!!”
“—Sasaki-san! Hang in there!”
She let out a dramatic, fake cough like she was spitting up blood, and started gasping for air like she’d just finished a marathon.
Yeah… we might be reaching critical overload here.
Not that I fully understand what exactly is causing her body and brain to break down like this.
“I-I’ll be fine… I just got hit by Rei-sama’s full-powered ultra-pure Seiso Ochita combo… And then the follow-up mega-feminine Love-Dive attack… I couldn’t breathe for a second…”
Seriously, stop yelling “Seiso Ochita” like that.
That word means something very different—
And you really shouldn’t be shouting it in public.
Especially not you—aren’t you supposed to be a proper young lady!?
“Rei-sama… your pure and elegant princess look was so powerful… it fried even my mentally prepared brain… I beg of you… please don’t wear that in front of anyone else…”
Sasaki-san pleaded through ragged breaths, barely holding herself together.
“O-Okay…”
Overwhelmed by her sheer intensity, Rei could only nod in surrender.
“T-Thank goodness… Now everyone’s lives… can be… spar—…”
“Sasaki-san? Sasaki-saaaan!!”
I rushed over to her side—
Only to find her passed out again, this time with a serene smile on her face…
Like she’d completed her final mission on Earth.
“I sincerely apologize for all the trouble I’ve caused…”
“It’s fine. You were just feeling a little unwell, that’s all, Sasaki-san.”
She apologized from behind me as I reassured her over my shoulder.
“I must also apologize for making you carry me… My legs were trembling too much to walk on their own…”
In the end, after we managed to bring her back to consciousness, she was completely out of commission.
So now, I was carrying her around on my back.
“Well, yeah. Screaming and fainting over and over again would knock out anyone.”
“Forgive me… I have an appointment I absolutely must not miss…”
Since Sasaki-san was still in no shape to walk, our original plan was to let her rest on a bench.
But because she apparently had somewhere she absolutely had to be soon, we had no choice but to carry her like this.
“Hey, Rei. How much farther to our destination?”
Even though Sasaki-san was petite, carrying a whole person on your back still wasn’t light work.
When you’re doing movements you’re not used to—even if you train regularly—your muscles will complain.
Back when I carried Rinna in a princess hold, my biceps were sore for two days straight.
“…Hmph.”
“…Huh? Rei? How many meters do we have left?”
“Hmph. Hmph!”
…What?
Rei was very clearly in pout mode—and ignoring me entirely.
“What’s with you, Rei?”
“Sasaki-san… gets a piggyback… it’s not fair… I’ve never had one…”
She sulked, face turned away, mumbling in little bursts like she was holding a grudge.
“She literally can’t walk right now. I didn’t have a choice.”
“I know that… but still… I want a piggyback too…”
She whined like an older sister jealous her baby sibling was getting all the attention.
“Yeah, but Rei—you’re wearing a dress. If I tried to piggyback you like this, your skirt would flip up and your underwear would be totally visible.”
That said, Rei wasn’t actually a little kid, so if I explained things properly, she should understand.
And honestly, she did seem to get it.
She wasn’t snapping back at me the way she usually did with Rinna, so this should be—
“Rei-sama. If it’s a princess carry, then you wouldn’t have to worry about the hem of your dress.”
Hah!?
Seriously, Sasaki-san!?
“Princess carry…”
It was like a shogi player suddenly spotting a game-winning move at the last second—
Rei’s eyes lit up like fireworks.
“Saito.”
“There’s no way I can carry you and Sasaki-san at the same time!!”
No matter how much I train, pulling off a piggyback and a princess carry at once would absolutely destroy my lower back.
Muscles don’t betray me…
But my spine? That’s another story.
“Then… if it’s another day, you’ll princess-carry me?”
Ah. Crap.
I said too much.
But with Rei looking up at me with those sparkly, hope-filled eyes…
How the hell was I supposed to say no?
“…Fine. If the right moment comes.”
“Yay~! I can’t wait!”
“I’m happy for you, Rei-sama… But if possible, please… do the princess carry thing somewhere out of sight from the rest of us in the guard corps…”
“Sasaki-san…? SASAKI-SAAAAAAN!!”
Even knowing full well she’d take the hit, Sasaki-san still tossed the perfect setup pass—
And seeing how happy it made Rei must’ve been enough for her,
Because she promptly passed out cold on my back.
Honestly, that kind of loyalty?
Yeah, her devotion stat is completely maxed out.
I offered a silent prayer for Sasaki-san, now slowly going cold behind me.

Sasaki-san… became a noble sacrifice.
Thanks as always for the follows, stars, and likes!
They’re what keep this story alive!
