Chapter 04: The Birth of the Whoa-Whoa Dude
“Uwaa… these notifications are insane.”
My phone wouldn’t stop blowing up with alerts, so I just turned the sound off and decided to sleep it off like a true escapist.
But no matter how much you try to run from reality… morning still comes.
When I finally checked who all the notifications were from, it was mostly old classmates from middle school.
Well, yeah…
The video was pretty clear.
Anyone who knows me could tell it was me with just one look
‘Hey, this Whoa-Whoa Dude… isn’t that Kujou from our class in middle school?’
‘The voice totally matches. I’m sure it’s him.’
‘I DM’d him directly but haven’t heard back.’
‘There’s already a meme video compilation of just his “Whoa Whoa Whoa” lines. Dude’s gone viral.’
‘Can’t believe someone from our class ended up this famous.’
‘Kujou-kun—wasn’t he the class rep all the time?’
‘Yup, classic class rep move if you ask me.’
‘Didn’t he always step in when fights broke out?’
‘I heard he went to a school outside the prefecture. His grades were great too.’
‘Hard to believe we’re only in our first year of high school. Middle school already feels so far away…’
‘Our old class chat’s buzzing again. Should we use this chance to plan a reunion?’
‘Yes! I’m in!’
Out of curiosity, I peeked into our old middle school group chat…
And this was the chaos waiting for me.
These people—acting like it’s all just some fun little sideshow.
Why are they using my life crisis as fuel for their party planning!?
Maybe it’s time I leave this group chat for good.
“Yeah… with the way things are going, the school definitely knows by now, huh…”
At least I no longer had to worry about being mistaken for a pervert or creep,
But the situation had escalated in a completely different direction, and all I could do was bury my head in my hands.
There was nothing I could do anymore.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
“Morning, Saito.”
“Rinna!? What the—why are you here at my place!?”
Still feeling totally drained from all the video chaos, I dragged myself out to leave for school, opened the door, and there she was—Rinna, in her uniform, waiting right outside.
She doesn’t even live near my station.
We never meet up to go to school together.
“I messaged you, but you weren’t replying, so I came to get you.”
“Oh, crap—sorry! My phone was going crazy with notifications, so I stopped checking it.”
“Yeah, I figured it was something like that. You holding up okay?”
“More or less… I mean, when you’re at the center of an internet mess like this, you really can’t do anything, you know?”
If I were some celebrity with a talent agency backing me, maybe they’d be handling PR and damage control or something.
But me? Just your average nobody.
Even while the whole internet was blowing up over me, all I could do was watch helplessly…and go back to sleep out of pure exhaustion.
“Yeah, makes sense. Still, having someone you know go viral online? Kind of hilarious.”
“It’s not hilarious. Not even a little.”
Ugh.
I actually thought she came all this way because she was genuinely worried.
What a good, thoughtful friend, right?
But nope.
Rinna’s just as evil as ever.
“So, Saito, how are you planning to get to school today?”
“How else? I’m just gonna take the same train as always.”
“Nope. Not happening.”
“I am taking it! Whoever uploaded that video was on that train yesterday. And the criminal always returns to the scene of the crime!”
I’m not letting the jerk who filmed and posted that video off the hook.
They didn’t lift a finger to help while I was breaking up that fight—just stood there recording, and then dumped it online for views.
They better share that ad revenue with me!
“Stop being so stubborn. You should not be riding the train right now. If you do, someone will probably snap more pics and videos and post them again. Nothing good ever comes from getting near people who’d throw away someone’s life just for a few minutes of internet fame.”
“I mean… you’re right, but still… it pisses me off.”
Damn it.
Why the hell did I have to end up in this mess?
All I did was help Rei. That’s it.
“Come on. There’s a car waiting for us over there. Let’s go.”
“A car?”
Still confused, I followed Rinna outside my apartment building—
And parked right out front was a sleek, black luxury sedan.
The paint job was so polished it looked like my reflection could bounce off it.
“It’s our family’s car, with a driver. I’ll be commuting with you for a while.”
“Wait—what!?”
“Keep your voice down. You’ll wake the neighbors.”
“I mean, still… isn’t that a bit much? Riding to school together in a car? People will start talking.”
“It’s just giving a friend a lift, that’s all. If you keep dragging this out, I’ll end up being late too. And if we both walk into class late together, what do you think everyone will assume?”
“…Right. I’m getting in.”
I tried to decline, but she steamrolled me with cold, hard logic.
No way I could win.
If only I had Rinna’s way with words…
I might’ve verbally destroyed that construction-pants guy on the train too.
And hey, if I knew I was going to go viral,
I would’ve acted a lot cooler in that video…
Thinking about pointless regrets,
I stepped into the sleek car after the chauffeur politely opened the door, sinking into the luxurious, cushiony back seat.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇
“Here. Read this before we get to school.”
“Huh? What’s this paper?”
As I was getting a little too comfortable enjoying the ride and the plush leather seat, Rinna, sitting next to me, handed over a set of printed documents.
“Uh… let’s see here. ‘Top comments about the Whoa-Whoa Dude.’ ‘The dude who shut down a punk with just “whoa whoa whoa”—absolute legend.’ …What the heck is this!?”
“I figured someone like you wouldn’t be ego-searching online, so I pulled some comments from forums and social media and put them into a list for you.”
“Wait—do you hate me or something? Did you really go this far just to mess with me mentally?”
She’s terrifying, this lady.
The document was neatly formatted like an actual business report.
How was she feeling when she made this thing!?
I was legit shaking.
“Just read the list. Sure, there are some people joking around, but not one person was saying anything bad about you.”
“…Really?”
I nervously peeked at the printout with one eye half open.
True enough—
There were people laughing at how I only said “whoa whoa whoa”, some were making memes and jokes out of it, and someone even made a parody video of me stepping into a UN meeting to stop a world war.
But not a single comment was actually insulting me.
“You didn’t just cherry-pick the good ones to protect my feelings or something, did you?”
“I don’t waste my time like that. Basic rule of data handling: collect and analyze objectively—no bias, no personal filters.”
She looked genuinely offended that I’d questioned the integrity of her work.
“Yeah, yeah, my bad. Still… so this is what people are actually saying, huh.”
It felt weird.
Being praised like this from all sides—it was kind of uncomfortable in its own way.
“Well, in this case, all the hate is aimed squarely at the guy who started the fight. They’ve already dug up his personal info, and that side of the internet is… basically on fire. I made a summary of that too, just in case.”
“…The guy’s a minor and they’re still going all out, huh. Man, the internet is scary.”
Rinna handed me another sheet of paper.
The moment I glanced at it, I winced.
So that construction-pants guy… even though he’s a minor, people were already posting his name and age?
Apparently, a bunch of users claiming to be his classmates showed up on forums and started spilling all kinds of dirt about him.
None of them were defending him either.
Guess the guy didn’t have many friends…
Yesterday, he got chewed out by the police, and now he’s getting roasted online for the whole world to see.
It’s gonna leave a scar for life.
…Honestly, I kind of feel bad for him now.
“See? No one’s saying anything bad about you, so just relax and let’s head to school, okay?”
“Yeah… You’re right. Thanks, Rinna. For putting all this together for me.”
“I-It’s not a big deal or anything… I had the house staff help me too.”
“Wait—house staff? Rinna, your family’s rich? I had no idea.”
“Keep that a secret at school, okay?”
“Got it.”
For some reason, Rinna turned away from me and started gazing out the window.
I couldn’t see her expression—
But her ears were just slightly red.

honestly its pretty fire way better than all those super devoid of emotion harem copy pastes going on rn, i have no problem with harem actually i like it but most of the characters are too 2-D and feel super man made
It’s stupid how flat most harem novel/manga and then stuff like isekai nonbiri nouka is more interesting when it is just flat out expositions.
Anyway, loving this whoah dude novel so far.
