The Guy Who Messed Up Is Gradually Doing His Best - Chapter 55
The second day of the cultural festival.
“Sensei, I’m sorry I couldn’t provide service yesterday.”
“Hehe. Yeah, I was really looking forward to trying the mini parfait that Gouda-kun made, so it’s such a shame.”
Heading to the classroom while having a conversation with the teacher where it’s hard to tell if she’s joking or serious. That said, today is the second day of the cultural festival, so once attendance is taken, we’ll be free.
I plan to head to the gym right away because of what happened yesterday (causing chaos wherever I go).
So, after that yesterday (after being taken away), I spent some time in the student council room and then went around to see the exhibits of other classes, but every time I went somewhere, chaos ensued, and I ended up being taken back to the student council room multiple times.
Even though they must be busy and having a hard time, Ichinomiya-senpai and Mimamori-senpai smiled and told me not to worry, but I couldn’t help but feel concerned.
It’s just that the seniors, in their own way, seem to enjoy intertwining their arms, getting close, and holding hands like lovers, and their actions when leading someone away are different every time.
When I asked the reason, they said that it was their last cultural festival in high school, but they hardly had any free time.
So, it seems they thought that even while working as an executive, they should enjoy themselves when they could. I thought that made sense.
On the way to the classroom, the teacher suddenly stops.
——?
“Gouda-kun… you’re performing at the band festival today, right?”
“Yes. However, since I’m the only man in the group, our performance was scheduled last.”
“That’s right… Hehe. Actually, ever since I heard that Gouda-kun was starting a band, I’ve been wanting to hear you sing. So, I’ll definitely come to cheer you on today.”
“Thank you very much. This means I have to work even harder, doesn’t it?”
Even though I know it’s just polite words, hearing that someone is cheering for me makes me happy. Alright, I’ll do my best.

After taking attendance in the classroom, I head straight to the gym. This is based on my reflection from yesterday.
If I stay quiet in the gym, I won’t stand out much. If I don’t stand out, there won’t be any trouble, I thought.
Just as I was about to leave the classroom, Tsukune (Kirishima)-san called out to me.
“Taketo-kun, wait a moment, this.”
It was the costume that the girls in my class made for me today.
Tsukune (Kirishima)-san, you were hesitating until the last moment whether to stay in your uniform, right?
“I made it in time.”
“Yeah.”
This looks like a costume resembling the fashion of visual bands from a past life. It has a gorgeous outfit that also looks like a slim suit with a host-like atmosphere. It looks cool, but since I’ve never worn it before, I’m worried if it will suit me. However, it feels good when I hold it against my body. Everyone else is nodding in satisfaction, so I think it will be fine.
By the way, I plan to just tidy up my hair without doing any makeup.
“Thank you.”
Since the other members also decided to perform in a cross-dressing style, it seems they will be wearing outfits in different colors from mine.
——Aaah…
On my way to the gym, I notice that there are unusually many women passing by. I almost bump into one, so I hurriedly step aside.
It’s the second day, but it felt livelier than yesterday. Maybe it’s because there are more customers from outside?
——Hmm, huh? Just now for a moment… no way, right?
I thought I saw someone in the distance who looked like my sister, but it was probably just my imagination…
“Maybe I’ll choose this place.”
The reason I came to the gym early was for this purpose. I thought I might as well kill time enjoying the band performances from other classes.
“That’s right.”
“Seems good.”
“Yeah”
“I think it’s good.”
But to make it easier to move later (for a meal break), I sat at the end of the row, with Tsukune (Kirishima)-san and Sachiko (Makino)-san on my left, and Saori (Kimishima)-san and Nanako (Fukata)-san on my right.
“Oh, everyone came too?”
“Yeah.”
After that, while everyone was talking until the first group took the stage, Tsukune (Kirishima)-san said he had made a second song.
Huh?
I thought it was amazing, but I also had doubts. Since the cultural festival ends today, isn’t the band activity also ending today?
“Yeah, that’s true, but…”
Tsukune (Kirishima)-san is unusually hesitant. It seems like there’s something on her mind, so I’ll ask her about it later.
While we were talking about such things, all the prepared seats were filled, and the first group (first-year) band performers and the cultural festival committee members were standing on stage.
Since they are first-year students, I think I’ve seen them before, but they are wearing slightly flashy costumes and makeup, so I can’t tell who they are. The skirts are short, but is that okay? I’m the only guy, so maybe they don’t care about that.
While the first-year band A was preparing, the greeting from the cultural festival executive committee was over, and the performance announcing the start of the band festival began immediately.
“Let’s go!”
Dang!

As stated in the program, this is a cover of an anime song. If I remember correctly, it’s the theme song of an anime where girls ride vegetable-shaped robots and fight mold minions, called “Disappointing Assortment of Bean Sprouts.” It’s quite an exciting song.
I think it’s a good song choice. Just kidding. I only got hyped because it happened to be a song I know.
When the first song ended, the venue erupted with applause. As expected of a song from such a popular anime, the applause quickly stopped when the second song began.
The first-year band A, who was the opening act, finished their third and fourth songs and left the stage.
“Don’t worry. Our band is cooler.”
“Yeah. Not losing at all.”
I can hear the conversation between Sachiko (Makino)-san and Tsukune (Kirishima)-san next to me.
They are small and cute, so when they nod at each other and talk, it seems heartwarming.
