The Guy Who Messed Up Is Gradually Doing His Best - Chapter 11
I’m currently sitting in the front row (in front of the teacher’s desk) and attending class. Just so you know, I’m a first-year high school student, but I’m over 180 cm tall. Can the students behind me see the blackboard?
Reluctantly, there is a reason for this, but my seat was originally prepared at the very back.
After the first period ended and the second period began, I received a complaint from a girl who couldn’t concentrate on the class because she was bothered by my gaze… It was conveyed to me by the next subject’s teacher.
I guess I was a bit giddy being surrounded by girls for the first time in a while, and I do remember looking around the classroom nostalgically.
Even so, the teacher apologetically says, “Gouda-kun, would you like to move to the front seat?”
I reluctantly moved to the front seat, but please don’t laugh, teacher. I was never looking at everyone with lewd eyes.
It’s October now, so it’s autumn clothes. It’s not summer clothes, so I don’t have to be that cautious. I just really missed it.
——Ugh…
I can feel the sideways glances from the person next to me, and the intense stares from behind. Look forward, look at the blackboard.
——Ugh, I can’t concentrate either…
In the morning, while being guided by my homeroom teacher, Niiyama-sensei, and the student council members to greet the principal and other teachers, I somehow realized that I seemed to be the only male student who came to school today, and since there were no boys’ restrooms, I was told to use the staff restroom.
By the way, this school has 15 first-year male students, 17 second-year male students, and 16 third-year male students, totaling 48 male students, while there are a total of 486 female students.
Although I was asked by the teacher, I was also curious about what a school in this world would be like, so I decided to attend. However, being the only boy among 30 girls is more uncomfortable than I expected.
“Phew.”
Finally, the second period is over. The subject teacher chuckled and said, “You’ll get tired until you get used to it,” and told us to come to the staff room if we needed a break before leaving the classroom.
Actually, I’m hesitant to move. Every break time, there are a lot of girls peeking into this class from the hallway.
It’s not obvious, but when passing by this classroom, they keep glancing over here. They must be curious. But it’s too much; it’s noticeable.
——Haa.
Since there’s no one to talk to, I’m thinking of preparing for the next class and then maybe looking through the textbook.
“Um, Gouda-kun. I-I’m Kimishima Saori, the chairperson of this class. If you have any questions about the school, please don’t hesitate to ask. So, um, are you getting used to this class?”
Kimishima-san was looking quite nervous as she called out while showing the name tag hanging around her neck.
——Ah, I bit my tongue, I mean… a name tag?
It must have been embarrassing to bite. Kimishima-san’s beautiful face is turning red.
She was cute, but she seemed like the class representative and was kind enough to speak to me. I deliberately avoided mentioning it and directed my gaze to the name tag.
The name tag had the name and job title written in neat letters.
“You’re the chairperson, Kimishima-san, right? Nice to meet you. Hmm, honestly, I still don’t really understand.”
“Y-yeah, that’s right. Ah, this is…”
Kimishima-san’s tone was a bit hurried when she noticed my gaze. She seemed a little flustered, but she explained it properly.
Apparently, the name tag that Kimishima-san was wearing around her neck was something the teacher distributed the day before to prevent me from getting into trouble.
In the morning, I didn’t notice when I greeted everyone, but looking around now, everyone was wearing name tags around their necks. I’m sorry for thinking it was uncomfortable.
“…Thank you for teaching me, Kimishima-san. And thank you, everyone. But I’ll try to remember everyone’s names and faces as soon as possible.”
“Y-yeah. I think it’s really good. W-well then, I’ll…”
The chairperson ran away as if fleeing with a bright red face. That’s strange, I didn’t mean to say anything weird.
Since I was alone again, I opened the textbook.
“Gouda-kun. My name is Fukata Nanako, and I am the vice-chairperson.”
After that, the vice-chairperson, who speaks very politely, and the kids sitting next to me, Kirishima-san and Makino-san. We exchanged a word or two as a greeting, and before I knew it, it was noon.
For lunch, I had bread and tea that I bought at the convenience store on my way to school. The girls around me were fidgeting, but it was hard to eat with a boy who hadn’t been in our class until now. Sorry about that.
I tried to move, but the hallway was in such a terrible state that I was too scared to go out.
There weren’t any particular problems or interactions, but I finished today’s class without any issues. On the way back, I went to the staff room with Niiyama-sensei, shared my thoughts on the day, and then used teleportation to get home from the staff room. Of course, I got permission first, but the teacher was surprised. Hehe, I’m a teleporter, you know.
Sensibly, it felt like the mental energy consumed by teleportation didn’t change much whether the destination was far or near.
As for the class content, to be honest, I’m a bit relieved. I hadn’t studied much in my previous life, but somehow I managed to keep up thanks to the memories of my past life coming back to me.
It’s just that history and geography are completely off. This is Japan, but unlike the Japan of my past life, everything is connected by land (it’s one island).
There are only people who don’t even know historical figures. I can only study little by little when I have time.
