The Guy Who Messed Up Is Gradually Doing His Best - Chapter 106
“Phew.”
As expected, home is comforting. The next morning, Mil-san drove Kaori’s car back home, and I lay down on the sofa.
“Taketo-kun, you must be tired. I’m sorry.”
Kaori sits down next to me, looking apologetic.
In this world, it seems that men hardly ever visit their wife’s family home. Kaori seems to be bothered by that. It’s a bit rich coming from me, who immediately retreated to my own room, but the ruckus since we found out she was pregnant has been incredible. And today’s send-off too.
“It’s okay. I’m just relieved that I could greet you for the New Year.”
“Thank you as always, Taketo-kun.”
Kaori smiled and gently touched my head, and in an instant, I found myself resting on her lap.
As always, it’s an incredible feat. Yet, Kaori’s lap pillow feels so good and calming. While being patted on the head by Kaori, I spend a leisurely time.
“Madam Kaori, Taketo-sama.”
Using telekinesis, Mil-san floated two cardboard boxes and brought them over, placing them next to the table in front of us.
“I received a New Year’s greeting card.”
The two cardboard boxes have the postman’s mark on them, and New Year’s cards are peeking out from those boxes.
This cardboard box didn’t fit in the mailbox, so the delivery person must have left it there. I should be grateful for their thoughtfulness. But, what is this number of New Year’s cards? It’s nothing compared to last year… Oh, right, the address was identified after the incident, and now that I think about it, I’ve never received a single New Year’s card addressed to me before.
While being subtly shocked,
Suddenly, I remembered that I had received a lot of “Best regards” DMs on my accounts and hurriedly posted “Looking forward to your continued support this year.”
However, I was surprised to receive many DMs asking me to be their lover or fiancée.
Well, even today, January 2nd, they keep coming in like crazy. When they pile up this much, it’s really hard to check each one. Honestly, while I’m grateful, I want to do something about it.
While I was worried about that, Mil-san mentioned that she knew someone who could manage it and assured me that there would be no worries about the compensation.
After that, Mil-san has been checking it too, but could it be that Mil-san is actually going to continue doing it? Even though she is a guardian, she is doing housework, acting like a manager, and even checking DMs? That’s just too much. When I tried to refuse, it seemed Mil-san wasn’t going to manage it, and she had already informed the other party.
That’s fine, but just to be safe, I’ll remind her not to overdo it. Mil-san is quite the caretaker, after all…
Mil-san was sitting in front of a cardboard box and was sorting New Year’s cards addressed to me, Kaori, and Mil-san.
As I can see, there are a lot of them, so I also get up and help with the task.
“Kaori, you can sit down.”
“Madam Kaori, please leave it to Taketo-sama and me.”
Since Kaori is pregnant, I shouldn’t push her too hard. I should have her take it easy.
“Yeah. Taketo-kun, Mil-san, thank you.”
Kaori looks a bit teary-eyed and happy. In a world where men hardly ever consider women’s feelings, even when they are pregnant, such a small gesture can bring her to tears.
“Huh? Everyone’s here.”
I had already received the MAIN message from everyone in the class. And yet, I even got a New Year’s card.
Why? When I wondered, Kaori told me it was because it happens once a year. I see, then it’s very much appreciated. Thank you for going out of your way.
Among them were Saori, Nanako, Tsukune, Sachiko, and others.
Last year, I was happy to get engaged to Taketo-kun. Let’s do our best with the band this year too. Their faces are printed with these words. All four of them have similar content.
Engaged? Huh, I didn’t know that. I had been thinking about it eventually, but was Saori and I already in an engagement relationship…?
For now, it’s better to send everyone the MAIN message, right? While I’m thinking about such things,
“Taketo-kun, whose wish letter are you looking at?”
Huh? Did I just hear “New Year’s card”? Or was it just my mistake? While I was thinking that, Kaori was peering into the New Year’s cards sent by everyone.
“Oh, wasn’t it a wish letter from everyone?”
“Y-yeah.”
Given the content written, it was a bit awkward, but Kaori didn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, after looking at their New Year’s cards, she nodded with a pleasant expression.
“Hehe.”
Upon reflection, Kaori even encouraged me to participate in the matchmaking party, so unless I end up with a truly terrible woman, she probably won’t interfere.
Even Mil-san is like that. However, in Mil-san’s case, since she is also a guardian, she sometimes intentionally drives away a few women who approach her.
“Thank you. I’m also happy to be engaged with everyone. Let’s continue to get along and have fun this year too.”
I immediately received words of joy from four people. Their happy faces came to mind, and I felt happy too.
Hmm, oh…?
After sending them the MAIN message, I noticed something strange.
Upon closer inspection, every New Year’s card from classmates, seniors, teachers, and fans had a photo attached. Moreover, they contained phrases that seemed a bit much for New Year’s greetings, like wanting to be their girlfriend, wanting to get engaged, wanting to get married, or wanting to have children with me.
What does this mean? As I tilted my head in confusion,
“What happened to that letter of intent? If there’s no woman you’re interested in, you don’t have to reply. Some people send it just as a formality.”
“Letter of aspiration…?”
“That’s right. A long-awaited letter.”
“New Year’s cards?”
“Hmm, for Taketo-kun… just these two, okay? Everything addressed to me and Mil-san is a New Year’s card.”
The New Year’s cards addressed to me were from the principal and Masaka Corporation. The rest were all wishful-thinking cards.
It seems that there were both New Year’s cards and wish cards in the annual greeting cards. I didn’t know that. Oh, Saori and the others, this is… definitely a wish card…
—— “Thank you. I’m also happy to be engaged with everyone. Let’s continue to get along and have fun this year too.”
Not knowing that it was the annual wish letter sent from a woman to a man, I casually sent it back. How embarrassing. Very embarrassing. What am I doing?
Out of embarrassment, I ended up rolling around on the spot, but the four people who received the message were overjoyed.
The next time we met, simple rings symbolizing their engagements were fitted on the fourth fingers of their right hands.
