Chapter 44: Returning to the City
“Well, I’ve had breakfast, so maybe I’ll play with Kuu and Kue for a bit.”
Everyone finished their breakfast and went about their own activities. Dad was still a bit down, but he would probably be back to normal after a little more time.
I called over Kuu and Kue to pet them. They came close and let me pet them as much as I wanted.
“Hmm? What’s up?”
While I was petting the two pets, Lucina looked like she wanted to say something.
“No, it’s nothing.”
“Really?”
It seems it was nothing after all. I decided not to worry about it and just kept petting them.

“Alright, I guess I should be heading back soon.”
“Take care. You’re always welcome to come back anytime.”
“Are you sure? Do you have enough money? Maybe you should take some platinum coins just in case.”
“I’m fine, really. I can manage. You guys use that money.”
“My son, you’re such a good boy! Here, take this money!”
“What?… Pfft!”
He handed me a bag, and I couldn’t help but burst out laughing when I looked inside. It was filled with a huge amount of platinum coins.
“I don’t need it! Having so much would just be a hassle, so leave it here! And never take this out in public, okay?”
“Ah, alright.”
Dad agreed and went back home to put the platinum coins. I was really surprised. I never thought I’d be handed such a large amount of platinum coins… It reminded me of when I first moved out on my own.
“Phew, I’m off!”
“Big Brother! Wait!!”
“Huh? What is it?”
I was stopped by Lucina as I was about to head back to the city. She seemed eager to say something.
“I want to go to the city with you!”
“Uh?…”
I was stunned. Lucina had come out of the house not looking like her usual self at home, but with her hair tied in a side tail, wearing a robe, and a magic bag attached to her waist. She was dressed like she was ready for a journey.
“Well, I’m fine with it, but Dad…”
“N-N-No way! If a cute girl like Lucina goes to the city, guys will swarm around her like insects!!”
Just as I expected, Dad came rushing out of the house and stopped Lucina. He was desperately trying to persuade her.
“It’s okay! You taught me how to fight to some extent, and Big Brother is with me!”
“Still, it’s not safe! Going to the city isn’t always safe, and you could get hurt!”
“But Big Brother is with me!”
“That’s right! So, Glenn, why don’t you just stay home with us?”
It seemed like the focus was now shifting towards me. Why is this coming up just when I’m about to return to the city?
“Dad, Dad.”
“Hmm? What is it?”
I thought this conversation would continue, but then Mom came over and whispered something in Dad’s ear. I wonder what they are talking about?
“I see… can’t be helped. Lucina, make sure you listen to your brother, okay?”
“Eh? Is it really okay?”
“Yeah, a father has to fulfill his cute daughter’s request.”
Right after Mom whispered in his ear, Dad quickly agreed. However, I was a bit concerned because Dad was smiling in a way that usually means he’s up to something.
“Alright, we’re off then.”
“We’re going now!”
“Take care!”
We waved and left the village. Dad’s constant smiling was suspicious, though…

“They’ve left, haven’t they?”
“Yes, they have.”
The two parents watched their children head out of the village.
“Mom really said something great, though. ‘If you’re that worried, why not sneak into the city yourself?'”
“I felt like your conversation wouldn’t end unless I said something like that.”
The reason the Father agreed was because the Mother suggested that if he was so worried, he could sneak into the city himself.
“When it was Glenn’s turn, we were told it was no longer allowed. This way, even if we get caught, we can just say we came to see Lucina.”
That’s right. Glenn’s father, Northstar Herbert, had previously snuck into the city saying he was just going to have a look and ended up visiting Glenn every day, which led Glenn to ban him from doing so.
“It’s fine to go, but if you start visiting every day again, you’ll get scolded, you know?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll reduce the frequency this time.”
Seina Herbert, the mother, gave him a firm reminder. Then, as if remembering something, she pulled out a letter.
“By the way, here, this letter came for you.”
She took a white letter from her pocket. The letter was mostly white but had a green pentagram in the middle.
“What’s with that face? You look strange.”
“No, it’s nothing.”
Northstar’s expression turned sour as he looked at the letter.
“Let’s go inside. Kuu and Kue are waiting.”
“Yes, let’s do that.”
The two entered the house. Inside, Kuu and Kue greeted them as usual. Northstar picked up Kuu, and Seina picked up Kue, and they closed the door of the house.
