April ended, and May arrived. Since the 1st and 2nd fell on weekdays, if we got through those two days, Golden Week would begin.

As usual, I went to school around noon and headed straight to the cafeteria to eat lunch. After finishing lunch, I opened my phone in the classroom to look for a match for the breeding practice, but I couldn’t check any offers.

When the lunch break ended, our homeroom teacher, Haga, entered the classroom with a large group of women in black suits.

“There will be no breeding practice today. Instead, I will inform you of the upcoming schedule.”

Bringing in a bunch of women in black suits meant something was up. The boys around me seemed to sense it too, wearing more serious expressions than usual. 

“First, it has now been one month since you all enrolled. As explained during the entrance guidance, the one-month protection period has ended. You are now eligible to be purchased by female students, so I will now explain what happens if you are bought.”

Unease spread throughout the classroom. I had completely forgotten about that. Since I had an extra one-month protection period from the New Male Student Welcome Recreation event prize, it had felt like someone else’s problem.

“First, your value consists of a base of ten million plus the points you currently possess. If you are purchased, your points will be added to the base ten million, and your held points will be reset to zero. This is a measure by the school to prevent a single female student from easily owning multiple male students.”

So if the base was ten million and you had ten million points, your base would become twenty million, and your points would drop to zero.

“If you are fortunate enough to regain your freedom, you will receive another one-month protection period. Well, that is only if you are lucky.”

『You probably wouldn’t get your freedom back.』

That was what I thought as I listened. The other boys around me were probably thinking the same thing. 

“Also, even if you are purchased by a female student, you will still be treated as belonging to Class 1-D. If the purchaser allows it, you can continue attending classes here as usual. However, your title will be that of an S-Class student of the same grade as your purchaser. If the purchaser tells you to come to the S-Class, you must go.”

So even if we were first-years, if the buyer was a third-year, we would belong to 3-S. They had said during enrollment that if the buyer was a third-year, we would graduate together, so I really didn’t want to be bought by a third-year. 

“Next is about upcoming events. After Golden Week, we will have midterm exams. The test content will be the same as that of the female students in your grade, but you will be competing only against other male students. In this midterm, the male student who is not in S-Class and has the lowest score will have their points reduced by half. There will also be ranking rewards based on total score, assuming you can place high enough among all students, including the female students.”

Unease spread through the classroom all at once. Of course it did. If your points were cut in half, you could easily end up being bought. When I looked around, people were glancing at me, trying not to make eye contact.

Probably because I had been skipping classes.

“Additionally, during the five weekdays at the end of May, you will participate in job training. This will be held three times a year. Students will select their destinations from a list provided by the school, based on their midterm exam results.”

In April, after the welcome event, we had just been doing breeding practice nonstop, but May was packed with events. If choices were based on rankings, there might be some really bad job placements.

Luckily, I had secured the right to choose freely. I had received that as a reward from the New Male Student Welcome Recreation, just like the extended protection period.

“Also, starting this month, duels are now permitted. A duel allows both parties to agree on rules and rewards before competing. There are cases where one party can force the other to stake a reward, but this usually only applies between the same gender, so female students will not force male students into duels. However, if there is mutual consent, you can duel female students as well. There is a duel room on the fourth floor where these take place. Keep in mind that it is on a floor mainly used by female students.”

(So if both sides agree, you can gamble points against girls too.)

It might be interesting to try a small-stakes match.

“That concludes the explanation of upcoming plans.”

Haga looked at us with a smile. But bringing in all those women in black suits just for that seemed unlikely. After a brief pause, Haga spoke again.

“Now, I will announce the four male students who have become S-Class students as of today.”

As if this were the main event, Haga’s face looked almost beautiful as she watched the boys trembling in fear.

“Since this morning, female students have been able to view which male students are available for purchase. Those who were purchased today have become S-Class and are now the property of the purchasing female student. Detailed explanations about S-Class status will be given later by staff. While enrolled, you will still technically be students of this school, but after graduation, you will be treated as the complete property of your purchaser.”

The boys all looked down, avoiding eye contact with Haga. Since I still had my extended protection period, it felt like none of this concerned me, so I leaned back with my hands behind my head.

“W-What… no, I don’t want this!”

One boy stood up. I only knew Kitayama’s name, so I couldn’t tell who was who, but that must have been Takayama.

“Takayama, you avoided the breeding practice several times by paying points, correct? That likely lowered your points and led to your purchase. Who knows what would have happened if you had not skipped. Now, please follow the staff.”

Several women in black suits gathered around Takayama. He trembled as he looked down.

“I don’t want this!”

He kicked over a desk and swung his arms, trying to escape. When one of the women pointed something like a gun at him, Takayama collapsed and convulsed. At that moment, something was injected into his neck, and he stopped moving. The women carried him out of the classroom.

The atmosphere in the room was terrible. 

“Now, let’s move on to the second.”

As if nothing had happened, Haga resumed with a smile.

By the time the fourth student was taken away without resistance, only six boys remained in the classroom. Forty percent gone, just like that. How many of us would even make it to graduation? Haga kept smiling as she looked at the boys trembling in fear.

“Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention. During Golden Week, except Sundays, breeding practice can be conducted multiple times. If you are afraid of being purchased, I recommend you make good use of that time. That will be all for today.”

With that, she left the classroom. My phone vibrated, so I took it out of my pocket.
