“I’m home, Nii-san.”

“Welcome back, Karen.”

Karen, who had been away since morning, finally returned home.

It’s rare for Karen to leave so early in the morning. To be honest, I was surprised because she previously did nothing but shop for the home whenever she went somewhere on a day off.

“Did you have fun?”

“Eh? Fun? About what?”

“I thought you went off with your friends to hang out. But was I probably wrong?”

“Friends, huh…Yes. It was quite fun.”

It felt like she thought quite a bit before giving or coming to that answer. Then smiling softly, she continued.

“Nii-san, speaking of that, are you perhaps free during summer vacations?”

“Summer vacation, heh? Well, I don’t have any plans made as of now.”

“Is that so, then? How about we go on a trip together somewhere?”

“Travel? That feels nice. But where are we going?”

“I found a nice onsen just the other day. I thought I’d like to go there with you. So why don’t we go there? I’ll pay for everything.”

“Eh, that’s no good. I’ll pay for my stuff myself.”

“That’s no good. Since it was me who pronounced the plan, I should be the one to pay. Also, I am going to occupy Nii-san’s precious time after all.”

“However, if I go on a trip with my little sister’s money, I’ll really look like someone who is about to become good for nothing.”

When I said that, Karen had a jolt running down her legs as her cheeks turned red.

What happened? Is she alright?

“Karen?”

“I – I’m fine. You’ll become a useless good for nothing, huh? Does that mean you won’t be able to survive without me?”

“Is that so”

Actually, it would be difficult if I suddenly started living alone from this very moment. For firsts, say, I won’t be able to cook my food properly.

As I was thinking this, Karen approached me, looked me up in the eye, and embraced me with her fragile-looking body.

“I’m sorry. I can’t hold it in. Can we stay like this for a while?

She rubs her nose against my chest and gently sniffs. Do I smell bad, perhaps?

However, Karen says that it’s fine as it was.

I felt a little uncomfortable doing nothing, being on the receiving end, so I put my hand on Karen’s head and started patting her slowly.

When I do that, she raises a cute voice and sticks even closer to me.

I don’t think we can just stay like this forever.

A day will surely come when you will find someone you like, Karen. You would also want to get close to that person at that time. To be ready for when that day comes, I should also try becoming independent as soon as possible. However, Karen spoils me just too much.

I understand that this type of Nii-san is all useless, but I also end up accepting being spoiled by Karen.

If I don’t start living alone soon, I will definitely end up becoming a good for nothing.
